Sam took the duct tape from Omar and carefully taped the whole snake body just leaving it's nose open so it could breath, then he added a layer of plastic explosives and taped then on the snake as well, and in the end he put in the radio detonator and finished taping the plastic explosive stick and the detonator.
the amount was small, big enough to kill the beast, but smaller then would collapse the tunnel.

while you were talking, Omar cracked the encryption on the Miao's commlink. AFterward there was a Firewall with Analyze. Pretty basic stuff. Had it been linked with matrix, it would have scrambled security hackers and IC. But without the commlink forming the security gateway it was too easy, to bruteforce hack onto the admin priviledges and turn that irritating buzz "commlink has been compromised". Cleared traces, stopped loggin of actions, and started to browse the files.

The 'link was prepped for the expedition, it doesn't contain any valuable Wuxing data. It does however contain pictures of interesting locations (aligator pool, magic chamber, well to the lower tunnels, moss and fungi and a chasm. It also contain the their shared map of the tunnels as investigated by the previous team. It looks like that from the crossing you're previously currently on, the east tunnel is connecting in an S-shaped form with a tunnel going south on the very first crossing. The tunnel you're currently in form a B-shaped figure and connect with the one that went south on that previous crossing.

There is also note from the moss, that according to the Sun To, that plant is subspecies of the fungi found in Aztlan caves. When touched the fungi oozes whitish fluid. it's awakened properties are probably similar to the Deepweed. None of the team members however actually tried that though and decided to take samples on their way back..       

One more info - the water that seems to be gathering all around the tunnels disappear into the wall in a turbulent stream at the place where you found the survivor. Since it doesn't seem to appear anywhere else it must be taken out by some undergound stream flowing below.

According to the pictures in the 'links camera. The chasm is the area, where tunnel seems to be broken away for several meters.
Blackness and darkness greets the onwatcher from the depths. The walls are broken, cracked, and unstable on the sides.

The chasm is some 400 meters from your current position

Mouse will let the pilot program take over for Dobbey momentarily while he jumps into "Wiz" (fly-spy") he will use Wiz to check out the chasm (so deep it goes, how far it is to the other side--if we can't see it.) Avoiding any water.

@Omar: Unca Omar, we might be able to adjust the power, focus, and frequency of my satellite uplink module to create another repeater. We've got the tools to jurry rig something i'm sure. Otherwise we will loose communication with the surface. The uplink module is the only device we go left strong enough to generate such a signal. The snake bitten fellow's com link isn't strong enough to use as a repeater. Even if we can get this to work, we can't keep this up as we don't have the equipment to keep making repeaters. The signal we have now has degraded drastically. What are we gonna do?
Omar could sense the worry in the boy's IM. It might be traumatic enough to have taken him down here to begin with. But as long as there was communication with the surface, there was a life line of sorts. You think that maybe he has never been without his connection to the matrix and its loss may be more frightening to him than these tunnels.

But Mouse continues to pilot Wiz to check out the chasm, trying to be a trooper.

As Omar breaks the encryption of the survivor's 'link and share it's information, Fractal finalizes his report so far:

- Coninued throught the lower level; we've found Miao Jhong-Shun; he had been attacked by some kind of awakened serpent (we haven't yet determined it's exactly species), but we managed to fell the creature and to save his life. He is in shock, though, and can't provide any useful information right now;

After the snake was taged and baged, Lips empty his substain focus from the current reflex increasing spell. With some quick arcan concentrations, a mana barrier was build and tunneld through the substain focus, encircling the snake.

"So, I put a small barrier around our friend here. Like Tseng did with the alligator before. Due to this ... unfortunate background disturbance, it probably won't stop the snake for long, but if it breaks free, I will know and then  your small charge around its neck should do the rest."

Seeing the map and since nobody else seems to carry the unconscious Mr. Jhong-Shun, Lips descided to carry him at least to that chasm on the map. That should be a little bit more saver than his current location. Since Omar was doing his matrix what-so-ever stuff with Shuns commlink and Mouse working on what seems to be a satelitte dish, their pace isn't that fast after all.

Lips also can't quite understand all the trouble to keep a commlink connection to the construction side up. It#s not that Mr. Bob will or can send another, third, rescue team to rescue both, them and the first team. But Lips keeps politely quite about this mater, though he would like if someone else whould carry Mr. Shun.

If they reached the chasm, Lips drops the body and take some time to catch up again, while the rest can think about a way to cross that hole.

Sam knew the critic was well places and the snake still was dangerous even thou in a mana barriere, but he did not want to give Omar the satisfaction to be right again, not today, not afer his big blunder.

You’ve grown accustomed to the musty air and the darkness of the tunnels.
Suddenly, a refreshingly cold wind brushes your face. The air nearly smells fresh. Cool air is rising in intervals from beneath.

Looking ahead, you see an abyss before you. It's a five meter long area characterized by a distinct lack of floor. To the right side a temporary 'bridge' is made. The 'bridge' consist of two parallel lines of nails hammered into the wall in short intervals, with rope attached to them.
This isn't the safest method of crossing, but hey, the alternative is to climb on your own.

Looking down you see the bottom of the abbyss that lies 12m under the edge. Two subway tracks can be faintly seen.

to cross the abbyss, a Strength + Climbing (5) extended test is necessary for that.
you may try to climb down, a Strength + Climbing (12) extended test is necessary for that or a Strength + Climbing(2) test to rappel down.
for both use -1 flat but cracked surface +2 for assisted climbing, total +1 modifier.
for the crossing using the 'bridge' you get an additional +1 to the climbing roll.
glitch on any roll, as previously result in falling off.

whatever changes to the drones equipment you wish to make I assume, you made them, just list them to me
in regard to the question on the drones being jumped in by sprites - yes, I allow a drone to be jumped in by sprite or by technomancer or by hacker, or by program (pilot) - but only one at the time (though all of them might be subscribed simultaneusly if subscription capacity of node allow)

if you decide to use satellite dish as retrans station - make rolls, and I assume you've done so.

I assume you carried somehow the survivor to the chasm. Lips on his own will have difficult time doing so alone, but with a help of Fractal he will do so
