Here soon I'll be running my first game of 4th ed SR, though back in the mid to late 90s I played quite a bit of second edition, and some third later on. Me and some old (and a few new) friends are all in town for the hollidays, and wanted to get together to game, so I decided to run SR, though being we're only going to play one night, I wanted to go with something a little different.

The main ideas for the game are a mix of the second alien movie, the zombie survival game from black ops, but all in the SR universe. I want to do a basic zombie/ghoul hunt, but I'm going to throw a few zombie critters (some para, some not) into the mix. Not sure about the exact setting, but I want a closed compound for the runners to be in, with some of the electronic bits working (to give the decker something to do) and some not (to make them get creative).

Mostly just looking for any advice people feel like giving me. I'm very new to 4th, but I have the main book, augmentation, arsenal, street magic, unwired, and the companion.

On the off chance anyone has predone stats for zombie monkeys and what not, that would be a huge help...

Don't know if you still need this, but ...

Grab the Medusa drone stats for your (one) Alien.  Understand that Aliens are utterly vulnerable to bullets; shoot them in that Very Big Head, and it goes down.  A Medusa, on the other hand, is not-quite-but-almost immune; let it play romp-em stomp-em, then run away.

Grab & modify paranormal stats for your nasties -- agropelter for your monkeys, loup-garou or banshees (or any of the infected, really) for zombies, or ghouls for zombies.

Seal your area.  A remote island that is going to be FAE'd in 2 / 4 / 6 / 24 hours.  Something like that ...

Have fun.  Try to kill them all, but slowly, slowly ...

Play the game. Don't try to win it.

Lets hope one of them springs for Restricted Gear and a flamethrower.

Everyone had fun, so in the end I suppose things went well. But...I got distracted with some real life issues, and got my maps for the compound very last second, so I wasn't able to come up with anything before the game...was just coming up with room desciptions out of my ass. Creature stats ended up the same way, which I think is where I really messed up.

Long story short, my players all said they enjoyed it, and the one friend that used to play SR with me back in highschool said he had a blast, so I'll call it a win...me personally, I didn't have fun at all, but I learned a lot about the system and will be throwing something similar together for the future.

I think I gave the wrong impression with referencing Aliens though. Wasn't planning on putting a Giger Alien in, just wanted that feel of exploration, followed be finding a large number of really bad things. Reading the above comments though, I do like the idea. If/when I run this scenario in the future I'll come up with a reason for insect spirits to be involved.

What I ended up running with, was the "runners" were a corp strike force that were sent to investigate a compound in Russia that went off line. The corp they work for does a lot with satelite production, especially military grade satelites. What this facility was doing, is taking monkeys, adding cyber/bioware, and training them to be shot up into space to repair satelites. Somehow the monkeys, and some of the facility researchers became ghouls. Like I said, very seat of my pants, and I'm not very impressed with what I came up with, but I think there's ideas that I'll play around with.
