I don't know about all of you, but I am extremely excited about this upcoming game. I have always been a fan of the Deus Ex games and this one looks to be one of the best. What is everyone's take on this game series? It is very similar to shadowrun and even drops subtle hints and nods in shadowrun's direction. The game is set a little earlier in history (2027), but the tech is a little dated by shadowrun standards which is cool since shadowrun is in 2070. Anyways here is the trailer for you to watch:

There are more out there, some in HD too. If you haven't played the first few games in the series, (Deus Ex: The Conspiracy and Deus Ex: Invisible War), then I suggest you do. Still great games in my opinion. Also considering there isn't too much cyberpunk stuff out there, I think we should count our blessings. Deus Ex, Shadowrun, Ghost in the Shell, and Akira are about it.

I'm pretty excited about it too, though I'm not usually a fan of FPS video games. The setting looks very interesting, and they've designed the world and characters in a way that makes cyberpunk seem cool again (rather than retro 80s). The Renaissance aesthetic adds a lot to the visuals and the roleplaying aspects of the game (deep conversations, infiltration, sabotage & stealth instead of firepower) have potential. It could be a knockout.

I'm pretty psyched about it.  There aren't many games that I even consider preordering, but this one's certainly on my DO WANT list.  I just wish it wasn't gonna be such a long, long, time before it hit shelves...or, at least, I know it's going to feel like forever.  ;)

I had the same reaction.  Problem is, I wouldn't know which platform to pre-order it for...

Nice! The Gamescom Trailer is pretty good. I am glad to see some gameplay footage of this game.

At this point it is all about the life expectancy of a console and the general direction that it is being taken in.  I have all three so I have to think about it some myself, (though DE: HR is only coming out on 2 consoles). Right now I am basing my judgment on support for each console and what direction that support is taking the it. The latest E3 expo should have given you some really good insight. I have my ideas as to what I want in a system and some are just not keeping up with them.

When it is all said and done though, PC is the best choice. However if you are like me and can only afford a upgraded system every 5 years or so, then PC is really out of the question. I really hated it years ago when I got Neverwinter Nights and I had to drop $600.00 USD in my PC just to play the game. Fortunately PCs and laptops are getting cheaper in price (despite being disposable junk) everyday. I really try to make my PC last as long as I can because this issue with the landfills full of tech is disgusting. (I am still using my Nokia with a green screen btw...)

Okay I am getting off the soapbox now. Look at that, I managed to talk about all the systems without directly taking one's side!

If you bought a new PC video card in the last 3 years then PC will have better graphics than any console.

Its been about 5 years for me...but you are right. I just hate the rate at which tech gets outdated and trashed.

The original Deus Ex still has a great reputation for innovative gameplay as well as incorporating 'true' RPG elements into a FPS - not to mention having a great storyline and replayability.
The second had a number of issues, the most egregious being the 'universal ammo' - all weapons used the same ammo, just varying amounts per shot, meaning when you were out of ammo you were out for all the weapons.  Much of it seemed to because they were trying to switch to console as the primary platform, making a less-than-satisfying PC experience, IMO.
The new one is my 'must have' list, right behind Fallout: New Vegas.

Yep, exactly, but system requirements may be an issue when the game finally comes out.  Granted, if it will run on my 17" HD laptop, it should look better than the 50" 720p Xbox360.  I just don't want to pre-order something without knowing the system requirements...   hence, my dilemma.

Man I hope my Dell Optiplex 760 with 4 GB of RAM and a non-dell PSU and Radeon HD 4650 can run that.  I guess I should go check that before I do my pre-order.

Got my pre-order in a while back. It'll be a bit jarring to play, since the past couple months have all been deeply mired in the classics of the three isometric Fallout games.
