String theory. All it is was that at the quantum moment where it would be decided whether or not there would be magic shadowrun was in the universe with magic pure and simple.

Sir Terry Pratchett has mentioned it several times in his books (and on cons): 'it's because of quantum'.

Who do you think I was quoting?

I love it when Death has a Near-Vimes experience.  ;D

It's a near-Rincewind experience actually, if I recall correctly.  ;D  Sorry, but you're talking to a big fan who went to the bi-annual Con since it was still in Hinckley (already looking forward to the next one later this year).

It happened when Sam Vimes was being chased by Werewolves.  Or about to go over the waterfall.  Can't remember which, but in that book.  "The Fifth Elephant"?

And Rincewind did see Death a few times, but he's a "Wizzard" so he sees things as they actually are without being Knurd.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if the pending possible discovery of the Higgs Boson will be the catalyst of the Awakening. IF it can be proven to exist.

Particle Found. BOOM! Awakening. Wouldn't that be interesting.

Yes, Death has a few Near-Vimes experiences, but he has a hell of a lot more Near-Rincewind experiences.  In fact, he has so many, Rincewind is the only individual whose life-glass (in all of its twists and turns) is actually kept on Death's desk ...

Not anymore; it was never mentioned in any of the novels featuring "Susan". Guess The Lady finally decided to retire him as a major playing piece.

Unseen Academicals shows that might be the case.  That said, he still almost stopped a fight between the two most powerful wizards on the Disc the same way he did the first time...

They decided to eat instead, and he put his sock back on and dropped the half-brick.

But . . . that would make Sheldon Cooper COMPLETELY insufferable . . .
