posts like these make me wonder if I should start a topic concerning continuing human involvement in war. for clarification I am referring to soldiers on the ground making decisions as opposed to drones feed data to pencil pushers positioned far away from the conflict.

You're always going to need someone on the ground to hold if not take ground. A drone is nowhere near as adaptable as a person is.

What if they are controlled by a human far behind the lines who can take in all the data and form a picture about the conditions on the ground?  For the record, I'm referring to anthroform drones.

I still doubt their effectiveness. Unless it was somehow a full immersion experience the chance to miss something would still be high. Not all stimuli are vision or sound based. It would be extremely difficult to transfer all that data. You also run the risk of jamming.

Yeah, but it's still a risk that I think is too big to take. For zerg rushes? Sure send in the drones. For important stuff you need people on the ground.

Something I just came across today: Stem Cell Gun Heals Burn Victims in a Weekend. There are some disturbing pictures in the video, but overall this is just fraggin' amazing! (oh, and the stem cells are cultured directly from the victim when they get to the ER)
