In that case, let me make a suggestion: what about a Force 1 Ceramic Knife focus to start with, and then save up for a Vibro Blade Sword focus at a higher rating? That way the smaller focus will still be some use to you, and since the bypassing ITNW effect is all-or-nothing, a F1 focus will still be useful. I just hate having a f1 focus that you have to throw out.

Fair enough. Also loved that bit about the katana style, it made me laugh.

Got Way of the Adept, and used it to update my character. I only took Geasa on combat abilities, because that makes the most sense for how i see this character.

Also I don't have access to WAR! to find out what the softweave armor mod does (i assume it reduces encumbrance?).

Edit: also updated first post.

Yes. You put on armor, and it makes your STR reduce your encumbrance on whichever of B or I is higher.

The vibro blade is the optimum choice for damage, but I'm not sure it would be best for a stealthy character, since the audible hum of the weapon prevents stealth attacks.  You may want to stick with the katana (or a monofilament sword if you want to be less of a weeaboo).

I think I like the idea of having a vibroblade, however I don't like the thought of a two hour battery life. Also i can get a license for a katana. It is a tough choice.

It only eats batteries while vibrating, though. Two hours is more than enough. Also, it's still STR/2+2 while inactive, so it's not like it's useless if the battery somehow runs out (which, really, should never happen. Two hours active is a huge amount of time). Normally you can just turn it on then whack people, but if have someone cold, hitting them with a "mere" 6P attack when they can't defend themselves will do the job perfectly well.

If you're concerned about concealability/legatlity, might I suggest putting it in a Gentleman's Cane (Attitude)?

Granted, VB swords are not maximally subtle. Katanas aren't exactly subtle either. If you do want to go for subtle, I would suggest going all the way subtle and using Ceramic Knives.

Don't get me wrong, i will probably be keeping it, it just won't be used in every situation, also the Gentleman's Cane is a fantastic idea.

Of course in game you can pick up a ceramic Katana with the powered easy breakdown mod so that you have a switchblade katana (I picture the folding sword from the Star Trek remake). With three mod slots left, you can afford to get Pers. Grip and Chameleon Coating on it. (of course that would cost around 21k before making it a weapon foci, but we can dream right).  ;D

As far as not subtle, I'm partial to the Nodachi. If you're going to carry a big sword around, you might as well go all the way and carry a giant sword around.

I had considered it, but i can't picture dual wielding Nodachi going very well. Also my katanas now have chameleon coating. The ceramic, powered breakdown can come later

I somehow completely missed that you were using two of them.  ::)

Technically you could dual wield the Nodachi, but I don't think I could even look at a GM straight faced trying to explain that it's only a -2 to hit and -2 DV for each hand.

I only have the one up there, but the other one will be there with the next update. Also the off-hand training (blades) is a wonderful maneuver. Thank you, Umaro

Actually, you are explicitly forbidden from using Two Weapon Style with dual wield nodachis, since they are Reach 2 and you can only do that with Reach 0 or Reach 1 weapons.

Another minor nifty trick - put a bayonet on your gun, so you can stab people with it (and so you can apply melee defense Blades if someone tries to melee you while you have your gun out instead of your blades).

Put a chainsaw on it.
