What stats are the most important and in what order should they be raised? Same with skills for each type of achetype. Such as Technomancer, Mage, Combat mage, Street sam, ect.

Such a discussion would take a while and would be basically be "X's Guide to Playing SR" and have over 9000! words in it.

I suggest looking at Umaro's archetypes for good solid builds of the majority of SR archetypes.  If you have specific questions about any of them, ask them and I'm sure someone will help you.

Some general advice is to just look for synergy.  If you're going to want to be good at shooting fools in the face, you're going to want agility.  Since you're agility is high anyways, pick up agility skills like infiltration.  This is especially important for mages and technomancers since they're going to want their drain stat high and are typically tight on points.

Likewise, it's not really worth being meh at something.  If you know you're not going to be good at talking, then charisma should as low as it can be unless it would cause GM aggro.  Spending a lot to get 2 extra dice to a test you're going to suck isn't worth it.

I just wanted to see what people thought. I have played the game for long time now, and I would never put a 1 in a stat for any reason. I how ever see lots of people doing just that. Trying to min max there characters and what not. I also wanted to know what people put the most importance on as they played to get an idea of what the other GMs are doing out there. I figured this question would be the best way to do so. After all you put want you can in what you most need to survive. I for example I love the adept and am starting to grow very fond of the technomancer. Do to all the things that can be done with them and the nearly never ending advancement. I try to spread out the stats and get a few skills that are needed for the type of character I am playing.  I then go about getting skills and raising stats based on my back ground and on the run ins that my characters negative and positive qualities would have caused. It is by no means a perfect way to make a character. Nor is putting a one in a stat a sin in my eyes. It just something I would never do. during game play I also raise my stats and my skills based on what I did during the run, and try to see it from the point of view that my character is a focused person and what he most likely would take away from the experience. I hope this clears this up and if not I am sorry for upsetting you.

p.s. my spelling and grammar are not the best and I am sorry if this is hard to read.

Putting a 1 in a stat isn't a 'sin' in my eyes persay, but it makes me hella nervous because that can seriously set you up for a butt reamin' from GM aggro.

hehehe  go on... make a really shooty street sam with the best ever agility reaction and inituition.... and 1 in Will.

And the watch as the opposing magic user mob minds you or something similar and then kapow!  Your shooty guy takes down the entire team.

Ahhhhh.... .blisss.....

Actually, its really hard to have a dump stat in Shadowrun.  At some point in time every stat comes into play....

And if he had a 5 willpower he's still mind controlled.  1.33 extra hits likely isn't going to save him from this fate if the mage got 2 net hits or more when he had 1 willpower.  But, I do advise not to dump Willpower so you can get more stun boxes.  Really the big cost of having a dump stat is GM aggro.  If having a Willpower 1 significantly increases the chance of mages casting mob mind, then you shouldn't dump it.

Intuition has no booster 'ware either.

But at least some of the linked skills do.  Perception can get boosts.  Initiative can be boosted.  But I think otherwise, yep, screwed.

So if you want to create a character who lacks of empathy (but not neccessarily charisma) and general common sense... use  Intuition as a dump stat.  But expect to never pick up on sarcasism and lies, and never work out patterns, links, obvious clues etc.  May show up late to meets because he didn't realise it was  night already... or that it was Sunday.

Might be ok if you assume everyone lies and a more clever character tells you what to do...

Could be fun, but easily too much of a comedy character in some games.

Nope all Charisma there because of the FUBAR way resisting social skills works.

Well thats true, not Initiative, but almost every Initiative linkeed skill can be radicaly improved by ware and mods.

well, since you can have sensor software for a few bucks adding large ammounts of dices, this doesnt really matter...
