Catchy I know!

The running urge is on me and I seek fresh victi... err... yeah, victims. I'm actually quite a lenient GM, but I do get sadistic from time to time. Trust me. It'll be all good.

The game concept is... undecided

I've got two basic ideas. One is you're in Dallas, and I pretend I know shit about Texas that I didn't pick up reading webcomics and other such sources of stereotype, and you run around having fun and doing SR things. It is extremely likely that at some point in this game that, God willing it runs long enough, you will be invited to take a gigantic shit in Aztechnology's breakfast burrito. Because that's my idea of a great time.

The other is you're in GB, where you will do much the same as above, except this time I don't have to pretend to know things, but my Britishness might result in me redrawing the odd bit of canon to suit my beliefs - to the point that the rough end goal here is to redraw the political and financial map of Northern Europe to one I find more sensible. Hint: Tir Na Eggnog will get fucked like a barracks whore on pay day.

Since I love both concepts and will probably do both repeatedly in my lifetime, I will take player votes as to which gets run.

Other things you should know before submitting characters

My preferred running style is somewhere in between Black Trenchcoat and Pink Mohawk. You're careful, but violence is part of the business, and fortune favours the bold (bold not stupid). Although I do tend to sometimes throw in runs that veer to one extreme or the other.

There will be some houserules, mainly aimed at keeping dicepools reasonable (I haven't thought this one that far through, but definitley no more than 20 to begin with) and banning shit I don't like (SnS and Emotitoys, MRSI). There are a few things I am too lazy to ban, but ask for players to show restraint on, mainly use of spirits/sprites/drones/sustaining foci.

Most books are on the table. But not everything in them is. War and Attitude are perfect examples. And Runner's Companion. Oh my gods how did I forget that. I'm not out and out banning the metatypes and shiznit from that, but will give them the stinkeye if they look munchkiny and shat.

I have my weaknesses as a GM. One is my rules knowledge ain't perfect - pretty good but not perfect - particularly where it comes to hacking where my eyes just more or less literally glaze over. I'll do my best, but might make mistakes, and when it comes to hacking, might have to be led down the garden path as it were. The other is I occasionally flake. I've no intention of letting this game go in a couple of months, but there might be periods of prolonged inactivity, and I ask you to bear with those - not neccesarily patiently though, player action helps me feel engaged and keep going.

Finally, players will be selected on whim rather than first come first serve. My selectorial bias will include things like: Quality of language used, Well-rounded characters, characters whose backgrounds give me ideas and likely reliability of posting. Also, there's pretty much a space for Rusalka if he/she/it/bbzt!superiorbeingdoesnnotuseweakfleshingterms wants it, as I just like anyone with the decency and courtesy to encourage me into running up a character to compete with them for a place in a game. One they specifically joined up to play in. That's class.

I believe that about covers it. I'm thinking of doing a wiki to keep game info if someone can point me at a good space. Any clarification wished, and god knows that wasn't clear, just ask.

edit:

Two big things. Overall party size will be about 5-6.

Feel free to either express an interest and a preference for game idea for now, or post a character; I won't be requiring to look at character sheets/be making hard calls until I've settled on concept.

Well, i just had to drop a chat-based game due to my work schedule, so if you've any interest in a gunslinger based on an Elf who spent his youth playing Fallout... I'll write him up!

I'm interested. I think the Texas game sounds better but I would play in either. My (somewhat loose) idea for a character is a gun-nut Texan magician who has a thing for really, really big guns and is definitely not compensating for anything.

Did I said Im interrested? No? So Im saying that now.
Able to play Hacker, Investigator, Astral combatant with pet,, even face (well there are some plans for him so I suppose no). Yes. And a mage. First built mage, so Im not too proud of him, well, he can surprise me (I was watching too much Dethklok those times, so he slightly resembles Skwisgaar Skwigelf...young one :P )
See references below

And...it seems like you have been here for a while, so please...if you start...stay with us :)

There can be only one!  ;)

Tex Johnson
Male Elf
Mundane Gunslinger

Tex is tall and none too bulky, at 6'2" and 180 lbs, with a long leather duster and a pair of synth-leather boots.

Born in IJS controlled San Fran Cisco, Tex was one of the few and far between birth-elves, with the UGE being passed down from both parents and putting the whole family in the uncomfortable position of metas under Saito. They were faced with a no brainer choice: stay and wait for some Ultimaxx's to blow their door open, or get the hell out of dodge. So, they packed up, and went East, cutting right through the UCAS and settling down in a little crap-shoot town an hour out of Austin. At least that was the plan according to Tex's father. Saito's guards disagreed, and those rifles of theirs were on the wrong side of the fight, from Tex's perspective. His mother made it, but his father didn't much like watching his family be beaten by rifle butts, and the commotion his six shots caused was just enough for the pair of them to get gone. Tex grew up, and put it behind him: his mother never did. She made it eight years, long enough to see a 22 year old Tex become an estranged delinquent, and then unleashed her grief in the form of a truck filled with fertilizer and Ammonia...

So we're left with a young Elf who fell in with a go gang, riding his bike around and jacking cars to pay for his smokes and his precious pair. These were the shooters of the gods, a pair of custom tooled Rugers, coiled viperskin wrapping the handles, settled low on his hips for the sort of draw that most folks can't even pray for. They were his pride, his joy, and his future.

So there's a brief skeleton of a background, and a smidgeon of a description.

I knew buying you as a C1/L2 Gamemaster Contact would be worth the investment  ;D

Now, to be serious for a moment: While I can't say I'm too fond of either concept, I guess it's true that Runners Can't Be Choosers. If they could, they'd've been CEOs instead. Of the two, however, I'd have to say that I'd prefer the GB one. A Texas campaign with Azzies as a major foe just sounds like it'd get really Pink, really soon. Especially because three players have already mentioned their interests in playing gun-nuts. The GB one, on the other hand, definitely risks being affected by your own personal opinions to a fatal degree, but then again, that should be the case mostly everything in the world - Any GM worth <insert possessive pronoun> salt needs to be able to abstract anyhow, especially in Shadowrun (I mean, otherwise, that'd imply you actually supported them corporate swine, and we can't have that, now can we?).

Given that the aforementioned campaign to which I applied looks like it died an intranatal death - and what a charming mental image that was - I suppose I might as well be applying with the Chaos Mage I made previously. It's not like it was tailored specifically to the other campaign, so it won't be hard to retool it. She might even have an easier time fitting in - Hastur knows that a Gujarati lass would have an easier time losing herself in a crowd in Leicester than in West Virginia.

I'll like to throw my ten gallon hat into the ring.  While I prefer the Texas game, I'll be fine with either.  My initial idea is a good ol' boy mechanic / hacker adept.  I'll try to get more of a writeup soon.

So far that appears to be 1-1, unless I am to take the large number of louder-than-life gunmen as votes for Texas...

2-1 now that Tsuzua has posted, sneaking in just before I did...

Alias: Devil Jake
Name: Samuel Johnson
Race: Ork

Ex Lone Star SWAT Member

Like a vid coming to life Jake stands a hair shy of 2 meters and leanly muscled. From head to toe he’s dressed for the old west, white button up shirt, jeans, a gunfighter belt complete with six shooters, boots with real spurs. Over all he wears an old beat up dark brown duster complete with mantel and a 10 gallon cowboy hat.

I can also make a smuggler, doing so right now but  Jake has a completed character sheet.

I vote Texas, I suppose, though I'd be just as happy playing my western-style gunslinger in GB.

You all know that we here in Texas aren't all cowboys that shoot anything that moves, right?

Tsuzua and Umaro in one game? Damned, I want in! Problem is that I'd prefer the GB game and the only character I've currently got is hacker/rigger like Tsu's entry :(
Guess I'll sit this one out... maybe the pirates can use one!

Sure, you lasso some things instead.

I'm interested as well, although I'd prefer to run in Old Blighty, but could bring myself round to a Texas game. I've got a 101 ideas for a character, so perhaps I'll just wait to see what "holes" in the team need filling... although my love of pixies knows no bounds, so, fair warning on that end.
Evil looms. Cowboy up. Kill it. Get paid.

I'm interested in either. Willing to play my hacker Dataminer(http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=487.msg118334#msg118334 )who's in the Black Book up top, I can take the holo hood and holo gloves off, but it's there for looks.

Or I can play a thief/ninja.....love playing those. Remake a SR4 character i had that's a compulsive liar, always makes for a good time.
