Sam was expecting something along those lines.

He Decided to let them believe they are superior for a while longer.
"Say, are you the yakuza?"
Sam played an imbecile, oblivious to the danger to himself.

No, I'm shaolin monk from the greek monastery and he is Bunny Five Titties the pornstar of century. I'll take your jacket though.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Don't come any closer !! His voice was harsh, rasping and he coughed as if he had a violent lungs infection.

Infected. Still fighting. Peaches whispered from her combat crouch, while she carefully inspected her motion detector. No movement around. He's alone.

Omar commands D1 and D2 to move to defensive possitions around, taking time to read sensors readings closely.

I see. No hope, thought.

He turned to wounded man...while he slowly takes out a pack of cigarets...

No wories, just pack of cigars, you are a warrior, you deserve to enjoy your remaining time. What about your squad? Location? Status? Number? Any survivors?

He places the pack near the crackle in the wall, so man can take them once they leave...

Anyone you want to adress your last words, while you are still a human?

"Lastly, I'd like you to tell me what it is that suddenly makes it grows in you that desire to exit the karyūkai*? How come one of the most beautiful flowers in this garden - and the seemingly most well-adapted one - finds out that her real place is not in this ground, but elsewhere, without thinking ill of the gardener. Where's the origin of you desire to go out, Mayuri-kun?" Fractal had no shame of using a caring verbal contruction directed for young people to Mayuri; after all, he was an elf, and he could well seem older that anyone in the room.

ah bloody hell I wish I can do this:

Sure.

BANG!!!

Better now?

But both dogs are guarding perimeter and i dont have a gun...

For gods sake, even Fractal would have hard time to convience this guy that this is the end.

Omar takes another step back, placing the D1 between him and crackle in the wall. He looks at Peaches with untold question in his eyes, kind of undecided, but he nods and says silently

Even the brightest light won`t change this situation. Can you grant him that wish?
And a  bit louder:

OK. Just stay right where you are.

His DNI is working a bit faster than his muscles, so before the D1 finishes his motion, command is issued.

[
Target assigned. If Target points a gun on ally, hit him with long burst]

Ok. we will move to let you stay in peace. I`ll leave drone here for your defense. Again...shall we look for your mates, can you give us some lead where to find them? How many MIA/ KIA. Whats the strange of the hostile fore?

Mouse, can you find his node? He may have some tactical data stored in it...

Mouse looks at the poor man and then to Unca Omar. In a soft heart wrenching voice...Is there not anything we can do to help? Do you think we could get him to the hospital in time to help? Mouse really didn't know what else to say. He didn't know if the hospital could help the man or not. Mouse has never dealt with ghouls or those bitten by them. Even with the tourch light pulled away Mouse with his low-light can see the man quite clearly. The real sad thing is that the poor man already knows his fate. He must be wondering whether or not to pull the trigger right now and end it all. Unless, there's the slim hope of us being able to help him.

Sigh...Unca Omar wants me to check his com link. Ok. Let's see if it's on and broad casting.
Mouse will check for active and passive nodes first, then if he doesn't find anything will lean against Unca Omar, go to Hot sim and scan for hidden nodes:
Electronic Warfare(4)+Scan(3)+TM(2)-sustaining(4)=5d6.hits(5)=2
Then revert back to AR and stop leaning against Unca Omar.. @Omar: sorry Unca Omar. I couldn't find anything. He's gotta have one (esp if he is KE,) I just don't seem to be able to find it.

He looks up at Unca Omar, hoping that he might know of some way to help this poor fellow. At this point Mouse feels helpless; he wants to help but doesn't know how.

It seems your arguments hits her square. She didn't show anything on that painted face of her, but still she yielded and continued to talk.

Mayuri roll 11d6.hits(5)=0

I met a man. He cares for me and I care for him. I am not supposed to wish that and I cannot be with him while I am geisha. He is Yakuza, but he is not in position to demand anything from my bosses. If we run away, they will track him down and kill him. If I'm allowed to cease being geisha there would be no dishonor in marriage.

Fractal understood one more thing from this one that hasn't been said. If the information of her affair reach Madam Kikuya, Mayuri is as good as dead, probably by being forced to suicide. The other option, if Kikuya is more important then Mayuri's lover boss, is that it is him they put to death for dishonoring Yakuza or Kikuya's House. Omar would probably think this as a perfect solution for'ceasing being geisha', but in that case she probably wouldn't share with you the location of the data you're after.

Peaches switches off the light.
The tunnel we're after is a little further that way. There is a large intersection, that's where I expect trouble. I'd rather not have him behind my back, but I'm dealing with enough of them to know that not all of them are evil, some are just hungry and very much rational. This one is on the verge of dying, but is still at least few days to transformation.

After the light's off, his voice calmed a little. While not much has changed for Omar's drones (there was enough of light from the spotlight afterglow) Mouse felt suddenly attacked by the darkness, seems like his contacts' lowlight features failed to adapt. Omar's own shitty cybereyes didn't help at all in darkness. Rasping voice surrounded them both, words whispered straight into their (cyber)ears...

There was no squad... I was going home after work ... went to a grocery for shopping ... had to buy some meat and eggs. The weekly pay has just arrived and Diana deserved something more then the soy... She hadn't yet told me, but I saw the test cases in the trashbin ... I'm a cop anyway ... she's been glowing with pride and asked me to come early ...

So I went to the shop and when I was paying a fight started at the entrance. A man in rags was trying escape and a guard was trying to stop him. I moved to seize him, and then he bitten me ... you hear that? he bitten like in some freaking movie ... I stunned him, and someone had bandaged the arm. But I didn't wait for knights to arrest the guy, I left him to the guard, Diana was waiting for me....

The arm was hurting like hell, it shouldn't be so, that wasn't much of a bite or was it? ... I stopped few blocks further to look at the wound and it was pouring some yellow liquid out that wasn't blood.... I passed out .... When I woke up it was dawning ... somebody kicked me out of the street behind the large trashcan or maybe it was me staggering mindlessly ... I had 50 unanswered calls from Diana, she must have been loosing her mind ...

The hand  wasn't painful anymore but the skin got thicker and I started to grow claws on it...

Am I turning ghoul? ....
you don't know if the question was directed at you ... The light was starting to hurt my eyes so I climbed down into the canals. The link was calling again ... Diana ... I smashed it, what would I tell her? how to tell her? HOW TO TELL THIS TO HER ?!?

There is no hope? ... There is no squad ... no me ....

Mouse countacts finally catched up with reality and his lowlight vision snapped back, the officer sitting where he has been.

Fractal let's his face remain stable through some minutes, and apart from the terrible noise of the white noise generator only he can hear, silence takes place for some moments. What can be pierced on the depths of the his metallic eyes are anyone's guess. His solemn and inninterrupt silence is the sign of respect for the tragic sentiments just shared.

But what an amazing thing is communication. On Mayuri said voice and stead tone, she shared more information than her simple and direct words carried, at least to the proper receiver. A sad story was designing itself in the sound of the shamisen, and the impassable face of the geisha suddenly became, to  Fractal's perception, a monument of human despair and control. The Kikuya Chaya was a very fitting background for that.

Fractal would store this image with him. It was sad, but it was also filled with strong emotions. It was inspiring, and he was grateful to understand that.

But as respect would call, nothing of this could be read on the elf expression.

"So ka." His answer as a simple one, but as Mayuri's words had not contained all the message Fractal received, Fractal trusted the geisha's social ability to interpret what else was on his message: it was not just an "I understand", but an "I REALLY understand; and I'm sympathetic to your pain."

He blinks, looks down, and then returns to meet her eyes. "I see. Listen, Mayuri. It was really important for you to say that; even though your statements have turned all my previous plans useless, now I know what we are dealing with, and the difficulty in working this all right. I thank you for this." He finish his tea, and then, with a regained confidence, continue: "But difficulty is not impossibility, and you have not just given me a better understanding of the situation; you gave me a worthy challenge and a stronger motivation to work this all right. Mayuri, I don't know yet how I will accomplish this, but I guarantee you that we will accomplish it. This is no longer just a job; that's a run - and I will put my whole on it."

The way Fractal thread his words are quite strange... He has no need to put any sub-layer of meaning in them - what he says is true -, but they are not being spoken without a very definite and clear reason. Fractal wants Mayuri to trust them. This will ease her burden, and it will also make their jobs easier. Fractal acts as a dancer - he talks with intent and calculation, but in a graceful way that is only possible in someone who only plans his next steps unconsciously. His social-fu and empathic quality are not skills or assets; they are part of what he is.

Before rising from his position and making Lips a signal indicating it's time for them to leave, Fractal asks: "It would be better if you could inform us who is the lucky guy with whom we may find you in your near future, Mayuri-kun. May I ask this as well?" As before, Fractal trust her skills to know it's not just a passing curiosity that makes he ask that.

Fractal discuss menial things with Lips for a while, during the time in which they walk towards the alley where he remember Dobbey was to be waiting for them .On arriving there, he changes the subject and became professional again.

"Well, Lips, here's the short of it. I was thinking on creating a false story about Mayuri's being already married, or about she staring into a porn trideo, but have you noticed it? The thing is quite more hard than that. Even though we dealt with a very well-wanted geisha, the Yakuza who runs the house are not easy to please; Mayuri meant that any superficial scratch in the house honor, being it real or just presumed, makes her value to them plunder... and dead geishas don't tell tales."

He leans against a wall, taking a confortable position to close his eyes and concentrate on the commlink reception. Once out of the teahouse, Fractal let the others know that he and Lips are once again reachable through the Matrix, and reinitiate the previously broken TacNet.

Are Omar and Mouse out of reach, since they are in the underground?

"This will be harder than I thought... Well, what are your thoughts and impressions, quiet guy?"

As he waits for Lips answer, Fratcal already starts editing a small message to the team containing the summed up facts they just uncovered.

With his contacts still in low-light mode, the sudden absence of Peaches' light made seeing more difficult. But not impossible. This low-light vision is pretty...

It was all Mouse could do to prevent from letting out a loud squeek, as one hand flew up to cover his mouth (letting out a muffled shreik) as the other hand hand abruptly moved his pistol and rest of his body to the side hoping to avoid the onslaught of the darkness, toppling into Unca Omar in the process. Not seeing anything, he removed his hand from his mouth breathing heavily after making much ado about apparently nothing. Lowering his pistol, Mouse records the words that are mysteriously being spoken into his ear, broadcasting them to Unca Omar. He will also add a face to the recording as he gives the man a look (somewhere between anger and a pout) as if to say that wasn't funny.

"This will be harder than I thought... Well, what are your thoughts and impressions, quiet guy?"

As he waits for Lips answer, Fratcal already starts editing a small message to the team containing the summed up facts they just uncovered.

"I didn't expect this japanese honor-thing that strict, I have to admit. One wrong move and who knows how the Mayuri or the bosses high up the Yakuza foodchain react. Our first step, of course, is to get some information about her two contacts. We might can this 'loosing their face & honor' thing  to our advantage though. If we can trick her bosses to let her go, admitting that the got tricked by getting her back to be a geisha, especially from another Yakuza member, they will probably also lose their face.
Hence, we need some trick or forgery which only needs to hold for one or two day."

Lips takes a look back at the tea house.

"We are not allowed to dishonor her or the tea house... so we go one step up. Just a work in progress idea, but consider the following. Her boss, not the old geisha matron who I include to the tea house, we could plant some evidence that he is not worth managing the place, to be replaced so to say. During the replacement things can get lost or miraculously appear, for example the order to mentioned matrod from the old boss, to send Mayuri as a gift to Shigeo, as his new personal geisha. IHm.... "

That is some real shit you got into man. I dont know how to make this much easier for ya. You know...I had a few ideas. You`d like to hear them?

Not waiting for aproval, Omar continues, lack of tact es always
First, there is a possibility you turn into savage beast with just enought brain to move around and attack whoever smells like flesh. Possibly even your beloved Diana.
Then, there is the possibility that you turn into ghoul, well you maintain your sanity. Ive heard that such cases happen...rarely. In that case you need to reconsider if you want your beloved to see you in this state.
I had a feeling that with the baby on its way whe may need all support and money you can provide to her. Well...
I guess that if you just disappear, nobody from KE takes care of your widow, no compensation for the family at all.
So you need to get killed on duty...or at least it must look like you have been on duty while you got geeked.
Your wife gets your life insurrance with all honours for wife of the hero, and that should help her raise your child in safety of some corpzone...
I think we can help you...but only in case you maintain your sanity. Whaddaya think?
