"You forgot crafty, dear." Fractal's says, with a gallant voice. Despite all odds, the adrenaline surge he is going through is being quite enjoyable, like a drug rush. He is so accelerated he probably is not minding the dangers of an overdose.

"Just don't go without me, honey. There's more to come."

So far the intruder has left. His back doors would be a problem until they can be addressed. He'll use up another service of his fault sprite to patrol our network for intruders giving him the resonance signature of the one particular. He'll reboot the others firewalls and slave all nodes to his. It might offer a measly bit of extra cover but it will have to do for now.

That's when Mr Fractal requests some help regarding a mag lock.

Logic 5 + electronics 4 = 9d6.hits(5)=2

Mouse tries to get the exact make and model of the lock from Mr. Fractals feed. Drat. It must be on the bottom as either inside or out.
@fractal: I might be of more assistance if you can get me the manufacturers info from the bottom....whoa...are those real?

Focus Mouse...
@fractal: plug your data jack into the data port on the lock. <<ARO of port location>>
Good. Now give me a moment and...

Hack to open the lock:
Hacking 4 + 2 specialized + 10 exploit prog + 2 TM means 18 dice
18:18d6.hits(5)=5
17:17d6.hits(5)=4

Omar must admire Lips`s selfcontrol. No only he was able to put take a risk and make a sacrifice in the right moment, he was also able to cope with consequences. Even when badly beaten and hurt, Lips was able to contribute to the success of the mission. Despite it was a bit like crazy fanatism, the mage has the spirit and Omar respects the man highly for that. He was also willing to risk some lives for the success. Well better others, than his own.
Situation defused for the moment, he focuses on Fractal, who is in some really ankward position right now. He studied the lock for a moment, trying to recall what he knows of this things.

Logic(6)+Security design(4) (10d6.hits(5)=5)

He seems to recall the lock, even some of its design flaws and he is ready to help Fractal through AR as much as possible:

Logic(6)+Hardware(3) (9d6.hits(5)=3)

IDN if this can be used for something (teamwork etc) but do as you see fit.

Green light. three more seconds to fasten the maglock cover plate on one screw so it wouldn't dingle from the wall and you're in along with your lover.

The room is all glaring white. White tiles on the floor, white paneling on the walls and ceiling. Strong fluorescent light reflects off all surfaces. The server rests in a single black rack in the back of the room, blinking small red and green lights at you. A chrome and glass table with matching chair is pushed against the right wall. A slight humming noise reverberates in the air. Two paintings of modern style in chrome, blue and white colors hang on either side of the server rack.

You immediatelly lost contact with rest of the team. The doors and walls are wifi inihibiting.

Fractal tries to send a message thanking the kid, but then discover the nature of the walls. Well, now it's time for him to deal with the consequences of being here.

Quote from: Art knowledge roll
Fractal has Art History, Art Scene and Art Theory, all of them at an 8 dice pool (Either rating 2 + Logic 4 + Cerebral Booster 2, or Intuition 4 + Rating 4).
So it's 8 dice = 2 hits, no glitch

Working fast, the elf sits on the chair and plug his 'link on the server.

I assume you go VR

Before you jack in your 'link and drop onto the chair you have a fleeting though that this must have been works of the Zev Krashnikar, quite popular lately modern artist. Each worth about 2000¥ if fenced.

as you open your virtual eyes, you find yourself in exactly same looking, galring white environment. Except, your icon has been digitized, and instead of a server you see a desk with yakuza gaurd sitting behind him. Behind the desk is an endless corridor, stretching as far as the eye can see, lined with filing cabinets. A vast data archive.

Quote from: ooc
to find the file you need to authorise somehow (pass the guard), and perform a data search operation, the transfer the file onto your 'link.
matrix perception test please, plus info on what you want to know
Sorry for a small delay ;)

4 (Computer) + 4 (Analyze) + 2 (Hot-Sim VR) = 10 Dice pool = 4 hits, no glitch

Fractal watch the informational construct of data gathering before his eyes, taking special attention for the dates of alteration on the files and security measures. He knows that the server transfer was a recent occurrence, and so probably the data he was looking at should be in a cluster of more recent information (as well as more protected).

Quote from: Hacking attempt
I believe that by authorising you mean I should hack the node, in way to get an authentication. So here we go, hacking on the fly attempt; As time is of the essence, Fractal will go directly for an admin account, so the threshold is +6.
4 (Hacking) + 2 (Exploit specialization) + 6 (Exploit) + 4 (Edge)= 16 dice =  only 3 hits, no glitch
2º Attempt (Without edge expenditure) = 12 dice = 6 hits, no glitch
3º Attempt = 12 dice = 6 hits, no glitch
So it's 3 hits at the first complext action, 9 at the second and 15 at the third.
Also, one Edge use spend, two yet remaining.

You take a closer look at the node and begin hacking

Quote from: ooc
It is System:5, Firewall:5, Response:5 class system
the yakuza guard is an IC of course: and you recognize the desk as an analyze program, the node is not encrypted.

target for exploit is Firewall(5) + admin treshold (6) -> 11
which means three turns of hacking necessary

node, get Firewall(5) + Analyze(5) -> target (your stealth 6) -> 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=2

you got identified on the second action, roll initiative.

As your icon approach to the desk. The yakuza guard stand up. Kon'nichiwa Sawaruma Sama. There is a fingerprint detection system on the desk, which you're expected to use. The exploit program translated that into a glove and begun analyzing previous traces. The matching wasn't perfect, but it should do. ... it didn't. Matching failed. Intrusion detected.

You can see the node began shutdown, while guard pull down a submachine gun.

Quote from: ooc
Active alert against your access_id all  firewall based rolls are +4
IC initiative -> Pilot(3) + Response(5) -> 8d6.hits(5)=4 -> 12, 3 IP
forced shutdown -> System+Response(10, 1 Combat Turn) Test -> 10d6.hits(5)=3 3/10 hits necessary

you may continue hacking admin account, you're now at 9 out of Firewall(5) + Admin priviledges(6) + Restricted alert(4) -> 15 hits, which means, you'll gain entry on your rolls, but the IC will have a free shot on you.
you may switch to AR, scratching the VR bonus, from your roll, and reducing you number of actions per combat turn, note that the systems shutdown is combat turns intervals, which is 3 IP for IC and you in VR.
or you may log off

I am not sure how the combat paralysis works on matrix, how did we resolve it previously?
Combat paralysis apply.

assuming you go with exploit, and that you'll have initiative low enough that you won't be able to react anyway

The sound of alert took you by surprise, and before you could react Yakuza agent let loose a deadly spray of bullets.

Fractal knew that whenever fighting started, he let the moment slip. But he also knew the mission success was depending on him now, and he saw one of them putting a huge sacrifice for it's accomplishment. He couldn't be the one to let everyone down, even if it meant he should suffer some punishment.

Also, there was some fun time waiting for him at the physical room, and also a date with Tabitha when this is all over.

Definitively, worth a shot.

Quote from: Matrix Defense roll
6 (Response) + 5 (Firewall) (I don't know if a defense test is considered a Matrix Test, so I will let the hot-sim bonus out of the equation) = 11 dice = 3 hits, no glitch
So the attacker has still 1 net hit. The attack connected.
Damage Resistance Roll = 6 (System) = 1 hit, and a glitch - Negated by use of an edge point
4 Physical damage dealt

The hacker saw as dangerous line of code in the form of bullets came rapidly in his direction. His speed was not enough, and he was busy coding his entry on the node to properly defend himself. He felt the blow as it made his presence malfunction slightly, and on his body blood flowed out of his mouth and nose.

But he kept on hacking and ultimately gained admin privileges to the node. Fractal would always rather convince his enemies it's not in their best interests to attack him than fight back, and that's something that's too easily done against IC when you got yourself an admin account.

Quote from: Runner Current Status: Fractal
Fractal
{Health: 4 / 10P and 0 / 10S damage, -1 Wound penalty, 0 Stun penalty}
{Edge: 3/ 4} {Initiative(Meat/Matrix): 7/11; IP's: 1/3}
{Auctioneer Business Clothes: Ballistic Armor: 5; Impact Armor: 3}

Quote from: Game Mechanics overview
With the damage being taken and the last roll of exploit, gaining admin access to the node, I believe this CT is done for. So here comes the next CT initiative roll. Combat Paralysis only affect the first test, so the next ones are made with the full attribute.
6 (Response) + 4 (Intuition) + 1 (Hot-Sim) - 1 (Wound modifier) = 10 dice = 4 hits, no glitch.
Next initiative score =  10 + 4 = 14

Fractal knew the code produced by a Black Hammer program could generate dangerous simsense response which could fry his brains rapidly enough. Specially since he once again entered a digital battle without any program which could serve as protection to him. He could risk trying to find the file and being too dead to download it, so the only option was disabling the black ice.

Quote from: Hacking attempt to shut down the IC program
Hacking to deactivate the IC program
4 (Hacking) + 2 (Exploit esp.) + 6 (Exploit) + 2 (Hot-sim VR) -1 (Wound modifer) = 13 dice = 3 hits, no glitch...
Against a dice pool of 14d, that's too little, so I'm spending my last Edge use to reroll misses.
10 misses = 10 dice = 0 hits, no glitch
Seens like all my Edge points were spent for nothing in this mission. Whatever.

Fractal sense a very bad feeling on the back of his head...

damage from black hammer are resisted with Willpower + Biofeedback filer not System + Armor. scratching two dices, you still get 1 hit
also we are still within 1CT, which mean that you Initiative for the remainder of this turn is 11/2 = 6 + [5,1,4,6,1,5,6,2,2,2] = (4) -> 9
now additionaly reduced by 1 due to wound modifier

as the bullets connected their code sprayed over Fractal's icon one more disturbing fact was that his connection linking his access_id and persona was now visible, and covered with inky fixing substance. To his horror Fractal understood, that without some radical steps, he'll be unable to disconnect now.

6 (Response) + 5 (Firewall) - 1 (Wound modifier) = 10 dice = 2 hits, no glitch

6 physical damage inflicted.

Physical Damage Monitor is completely filled, so I guess it's gameover.
