Okay, so I noticed that, while it may not be pretty, it is possible to make an emergency bolt-hole that's a net cost of 0 LP and, therefore, 0¥ / month.

Essentially, you've got a shack somewhere (like a patch of woods) that belongs to someone (i.e. the people that it's Affiliated with) who has/have let you set up an emergency cache on their territory because of past favors or simply because they like you that much. The place is isolated a drekhole, yeah, but it's free and it's better than dying if you have to bolt with a Megacorp hard on your heels because a run went sour.

You can make 5 LP worth of improvements (I'd start with losing "Under a Rock") and still have a total Permanent Lifestyle cost of a "measly" 50,000¥... not bad for someone who is playing in the big-leagues and doesn't want monthly payments leaving a data-trail to their hiding spot. Beyond that the value starts falling off (6 LP is 80,000¥, for example), but what you can afford to blow on a likely-single-use contingency really depends on who you are and where you are in your career.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it is possible to do the 0 net LP bolthole. It is even possible to do it with a little more creature comforts in mind, as well. My character Kitten has one such bolt hole, a sewer maintenance locker that was written off the books and converted into a living space (yes, with actual showers and other such things). Makes it a far sight more comfortable to live in than some bolt holes.

Mind sharing that with the rest of the class?

*SNIPPED FOR SPACE*

This Isn't Big Bob's Autos (-1) - The matrix number for this bolthole is one off a common number, meaning you get a lot of wrong numbers.

*SNIPPED REDUX*

No Privacy (Astral) (-3) - There is absolutely no astral cover here.

*SNIPPED THE THIRD*

Nosy Neighbors (-2) - What few people are in this area are intensely curious if someone new shows up.

*SNIPPED: EPISODE 4: A NEW HOPE*

Okay, small problem there. If you check the rules for Incompatible Qualities (Safehouses, p15) you'll see that the Qualities I quoted are incompatible with a bolt-hole or safe-house.

EDIT: Also Worse Neighbors. Any Neighbor Quality other than "No Neighbors", basically.

How's this, then?

Maintenance Shed Bunker
Comforts: Middle (3)
Entertainment: Middle (3)
Necessities: Low (2)
Neighborhood: Squatter (1)
Security: High (4)

Qualities
Ultramodern (1) - The rating of all devices in the residence are raised by 1.
Fully Stocked Bar (1) - Lifestyle covers a daily ration of your addiction du jour.
Stocked Up (1) - Food and water section of Necessities raised by 2.
Under a Rock (-3) - When you emerge, you may be coming into a post-apocalyptic hellscape with only your Predator for all you know.
Fresh Meat (-3) - A nest of feral ghouls lives in these tunnels as well.
Worse Neighbors (-1) - A 9x9 cell holds their meetings in a abandoned warehouse nearby.
Donut Shop (-4) - A police precinct is located literally above your head. And these are the kind of cops that don't take bribes.
Rough Neighborhood    (-1) - Crime in this area is one level higher than normal.
Hotel California (-1) - Once you're in, you cannot leave, under any circumstances, for a preset period of time.
Escape Tunnel (3) - A hidden tunnel leads to the surface, instead of having to trek through the sewers.
Hell's Waiting Room (-2) - This place seems to drain any sense of joy from you, other than the thoughts of revenge.
Loud Neighborhood (-1) - Seems like people believe 11 is 'quiet' in this area. You'll want to turn off your cyberears when going to sleep.
Ambusher's Delight (-3) - The shed's spartan layout make it an ideal spot for ambushers.

Total: 0 LP (0 nuyen per month)
A sewer maintenance shed that was 'accidentally' written off the books, and then converted into an emergency living space, complete with shower, toilet, and other necessities. Despite how it sounds, one can actually live fairly comfortably here, with some entertainment to distract you. The food isn't as good as her other places, and she has to wear second hand clothes while she's here. The bad news? The bunker is located directly underneath a police precinct on the edge of Kowloon Walled City. But hey, the security is top notch, and who would really look for you underneath a police station?

Don't you mean +4, with so much protection. Especially if you lock yourself in, its definitely no disadvantage.
it also contradicts:

Rough Neighborhood    (-1) - Crime in this area is one level higher than normal.

Who said those cops are all that good at what they do? Just because they're there doesn't mean they do any good.

There is a police precinct actually in (or next to) Central Park IRL, IIRC. Does that mean walking through Central Park alone at night is a good idea? No. There are police precincts in Tehran. Does that make the streets there safe to walk? Nope. Especially not if you're one of the ones the cops are hunting.

And of course, depending on where you are, the cops could be the ones responsible for the extra crime. Damn Lone Star.
