Based on the post rate going on, I don't think I will be able to jump in on this. I don't like delaying people haha.

Posting in a moment, sorry, got caught up on stuff lat night. :-/

Meant to ask, what's considered a group? How many entered?

Oh, sorry. The driver of the car, the two goons who kidnapped Fong, and Fong himself. Though, Grind doesn't know who any of these people are!

bangbang: things have been going way faster than I expected. There was a lot of action right at the start, which is why I suspect we're all posting so much. If you could post twice a week that would be fine. Though, at this point you might have to wait a little bit to join. Doesn't make a difference to me--I could do another, but four characters is plenty at the moment.

vinnmun: are you just waiting at the door right now? Also, you don't necessarily know there are 4 people in there--you didn't do the language test!

He saw 3 people and knew cheng had to be inside, so he's assuming 4 in there all together.

I assume he'd know what an angry chinese man sounds like through a door.

Also I was going to see if i can blow the door up a bit to go through in hopes of being a distraction for my next arrow. :-) I was going to aim around where the door knob/lock was.

Oops! I didn't realize you were waiting for me. You could have just shot at the door.

I made your archery test for you to speed things along:
13d6.hits(5)=4

That's enough to knock the door open. It doesn't blow off the hinges or anything, but the latch is busted. For convenience we'll say this happens at the end of the current combat turn. Grind and Kitten, both please make an additional initiative roll to see who surprises whom. Grind get +6 since he is intending to ambush.

Also Mirikon, I forgot to mention you should have had a -3 modifier for "attacker in melee" to your pistol tests, since you were avoiding a melee attack in the same pass. I'd feel bad about taking away your lucky rolls, so I'll just subtract one hit from each one.

She'll pretty much let them go at this point. There's no reason to actually kill them, and the desired effect of preventing the kidnapping was achieved. Killing them would draw heat from their bosses, while letting them go now would just make them more careful about how and when they try again in the future (probably finding out where he lives and going after him there when he's alone). I'm not going to make a big target of myself over a stranger, just going to try to prevent the kidnapping attempt I witness. Ahh, the sucky part about having morals...

Her shock white hair. It's how she picked her alias. If it should've been worth more, then I messed up, but I was trying to err on the side of too little if necessary. Wasn't exactly sure how much that would've been worth. (Was the lowest level of the quality)

On a side note, the encryption on her primary comm would be the 'strong' encryption option. Likely got someone she worked with in the past (or a coworker of her parents) to set that up.

Yeah, it says 5 per distinctive trait, so that's right. It's more the gratuitous public magic use than the hair that caused her to make the trid--I just wanted to know how to describe her.

Yeah, for the most part, she does the shadow work more as a side thing. Otherwise she's more of a corporate freelancer that won't do anything against 'Raku. Considering the rarity of mages of her power level in the world, that should be a rather lucrative endeavour.

Also, please let me know when I can start making the rolls to heal the stun damage and later the physical damage. I should only need a day or two to recover completely since the first aid put me down to 1P and 4S damage. If you'll allow it, I have the dice pool for each that I could buy hits to fully heal the stun in 2 hours and the physical in 1 day (not sure if it counts a 'day' as an eight hour 'working period' like it does in other systems).

BigGuns: Since the injuries aren't very serious, I'll assume a night's rest heals all of it this time.

On the hostage situation: I'm thinking -4 to ranged attacks for good cover (>50% covered), plus -6 for a called shot to avoid hitting Fong. There isn't anything in the core rules about human shields AFAIK, and it says called shot modifiers are up to the GM. I came upon the -6 doing some number crunching (I assumed an expert marksmen should get at least one hit 95% of the time).

I've kind of painted myself into a corner here with Cheng's threat. Obviously I don't want to have one NPC kill a more important NPC. On the other hand, there does need to be a real chance of Cheng carrying out his threat. I thought about requiring a composure/willpower test to shoot at Cheng (at least for Kitten--Grind has no reason to care about Fong), but I don't like to restrict PC actions like that. So I'm thinking I will leave it to the dice, and have Cheng make a willpower test to determine if he kills Fong (if you shoot at him). What do you think?
