Mirikon: you can't use lockpicking on plasteel restraints, as they have no locks! You can use the rules for attacking barriers: they have structure/armor 15. -2 to melee test since you are in a restricted position, and you can't cut the restraints on your own hands (the restraints are rigid). I'll ignore the rule that the rating doubles against bladed weapons, since you're only trying to cut through them. However, they'll still be rolling 30 dice to resist damage, so it won't be easy.

Oh, so they're zipties? I thought they were handcuffs. In that case, my handrazors won't do anywhere near enough damage to get through them, so I guess I'm stuck.

Check out the gear section under "security devices:: plasteel restraints are different from zipties, and they seem to be unbreakable except with a special tool or a torch. Nasty stuff. Did you think the gangers would leave you in the car with something that could be broken or picked? They are not that dumb  ;D

A couple things:

commabandit, Menzo doesn't have a license for the pistol, so I'm giving you a chance to leave it home, or at least make some effort to present yourself so as to lessen your chance of getting searched. No gutter trash in the ritzy neighborhoods!

Also, for characters who have day jobs (night jobs both, actually): If you want a fixed schedule, make one up. Otherwise I will roll dice each game day to determine whether you get called in to work that night.

Finally, back in the recruitment thread I said I'd allow sprites to jump into vehicles/drones. I've discovered that this isn't allowed--Runner's Companion states under the rules for AI that entities without a motor cortex can't jump in. So just FYI, sprites can't jump in.

I've edited the post so he didn't take the pistol. Do I need to pot again after Linda's addendum or was that just a warning?

I'll just move you along. I would have posted her warning in the first post, but I didn't want to presume you were going over there. I don't want to get too micro-managey over things like commlinks, permits, etc. but it is always a good idea to know what kind of area you'll be in and be prepared to deal with security.

I'm going to wait to make another post until Frostmane has acted, just so you know.

Mirikon: Fong is not in the car with you, he was taken away when Cheng and the other guy got out.

Also if there's any confusion for everyone: Kowloon (City) is a district of Hong Kong, Kowloon Walled City is a hellhole of a place within Kowloon (It was a real place--look it up on Wikipedia!). When I say Kowloon I am only referring to general Kowloon, unless I specify otherwise. Kowloon is a place where your car will probably get stolen. Kowloon Walled City is a place where you'll get shot, an evil spirit will drain your essence, your organs will be harvested and your corpse perhaps inhabited by said spirit (and your car will also be stolen).

So our hands our bound in front of us and not behind? If that's the case than I put on my pants at least.

I probably should have specified. Since opening the trunk, taking your gear, turning on your commlinks etc. would have been about impossible with your hands tied behind your backs, I'll say they're bound in front. But, you were never missing your pants. Kitten is naked because she was only wearing her chameleon suit, which they stripped off.

Also, keep in mind that Randal doesn't have an autosoft power. He can command the car's dog brain, but can't actually drive.

7 hits on control thoughts... damn Menzo, looks like your thoughts are gonna be controlled!

Of course, since this is control thought and not compel truth, I'm thinking the results should be somewhat less predictable. You can make someone think that they need to tell you the truth, but that doesn't necessarily mean what they tell you will be true...

I'm gonna sit to the side for now and let you guys roleplay and toss dice as necessary. Just try not to do anything stupid and get yourselves into a situation like the other two. Especially Menzo, who it seems is pretty close to ending up in a Renraku holding cell for the rest of the game  ;D

Initiative in the car chase with Grind and Kitten:

Grind: 12, 3 passes
Driver and Gunman: 10, 1 pass

Is Kitten gonna lay low for now? Your move, vinnmun. The car's coming up on your right side (don't forget, they drive on the left in Hong Kong!)

Kitten can't drive, and isn't going to waste ammo firing wildly. So yes, laying low.

A dice pool of 2 against 7 hits? Yeah, I'm screwed.Good thing Menzo isn't actually hiding anything...

So if I roll those two dice and obviously fail, those are discarded for the rolls afterwards to break out of it, right?
