Subject line is the barest bones of the story. Character is an augmented adept (with a side of surge cheese) that is modeled on a batman like skill set.
Backstory:
The Spectre has haunted the shadow world since the late 2040's, protecting the innocent under the guise of an effective, if eccentric, B&E specialist. In 2063 a run The Spectre was on went very wrong and his team was responsible for orphaning a Barrens youth named Roan Mascas.
The Spectre took Roan home where he revealed his identity, billionaire playboy Maxwell Eidolon! He decided then and there to teach the boy the ways of justice and how to fight for it from the shadows. The boy was fast to learn able to replicate the intended effects of moves even if his body wasn't physically able to replicate the movement. It became rapidly apparent the boy was awakened. A natural adept. He ran with The Spectre for several years.
One night however, The Spectre's arch enemy Dead Hammer discovered his identity and attacked him at Eidolon Manor. In the struggle Roan was knocked unconscious and Spectre and Dead Hammer killed each other. When the call came in to Lone Star, Commissioner Banks made sure he was the first on the scene. He had been a long time friend of Eidolon and gave him the info and connections to do the most good as The Spectre. He cleaned up the connection between the two and it was filed as a random robbery attempt against a wealthy man.
The funeral was large and publicized as was Eidolon leaving his estate and a large sum of money to the ork youth. Through the whole process Roan was in a daze. When he returned to the Manor he found it destroyed from the final battle. He wandered through the house for hours before heading down into the secret cache where The Spectre's gear was held. As he stood staring at the suit his mind fractured. He was convinced that everyone was wrong. The Spectre was alive. He just had to prove it.
In the years since, Roan has gone on an endless fruitless quest, wearing The Spectre's outfit, trying to find that evidence. Eidolon Manor, never repaired and it's servants long since departed, crumbles around him. The walls strewn with printouts of news stories and unrelated data, each on a part of unraveling the mystery in his mind. He either sits in a catatonic state for hours or wanders the halls, haunting his own house. He never takes off The Spectre's mask, and in fact his adept powers have become tied to it.
He has also SURGEd, making him even smarter but projecting his psychosis and negative energy into his aura and the ambient mana around the mansion. This dark energy has brought dark and toxic spirits to the broken Manor, where they love to whisper to the broken hero, making him all the madder.
The commissioner still sets him up with Johnsons though he has since become corrupt and started fixing for many runners since Lone Star was booted from Seattle. He's thinking of cutting the kid loose soon since he's becoming a liability.
