>>>>>[Card, forget the girls. Get to your doc, and have him do a full workup on you. Then get to a mage you trust, and have your aura scanned, and scanned deep. Do it now. Don't argue, don't even think. Just get yourself checked out. I've got a courier coming to you to pick up those files. And if anything comes up strange on your medical or astral scans, get yourself some help. And I'm not talking about your Grandfather's men. From all I hear, Triads have some heavy mojo, but what you're after isn't firepower. Get to a specialist. I'd recommend the DIMR. Take a copy of those files with you.

Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to set up a dead letter drop. Way it works is you set a message (or ten or a hundred) to be delivered in 24 hours unless you give the 'no go' command. So if you stop breathing, that insurance policy makes its way into the right hands.]<<<<<

>>>>>[I've seen like, four doctors, all of them basically from my Grandfather's personal black book. Three of them were mages. Other then my aura being the usual wonk from seeing something That Should Not Be, (aka my pants are filled with drek terror), I'm fine. I even stopped by the local DIMR just in case. According to what they could figure out, The main reason i wasn't melted horribly by the Creatures like the Sammy was the fact that I practice trying to be zen all the time. Ya know, no active, let alone passive "want to slaughter something' emotions and all that. Or at least, it helped me be resistant. That creature nearly took my arm because..well, it nearly bit it off. I can still see light scaring in the astral. Creepy stuff. I really think it almost ate my arm's SOUL,  and I really don't want to think about that.

Funny thing is I can see at least three people I KNOW are Lotus watching the house right now. Likely just some extra insurance both ways: Make sure Azzie doesn't try to yoink me, and to make sure I don't suddenly drop dead, but I'll look into that dead drop idea. Shouldn't be too hard to set up a minor program to ask for my hand print and retina every 23 hours or so, to send a cancel message to the drop.

By the way: The ones I fought? Didn't like fire, or electricity. Made my talents come in real handy while the mage cooked up a few fire balls. He's currently sitting in DIMR getting himself a quadruple scan if I remember right. I'm tempted to go back just in case, but in the end, if something like that doesn't want to be dectected THAT badly, I don't think there's a mage on Earth that will be able to, outside of a dragon, and we all know THAT saying.

Also: is it just me, or is my link being wonky? I know it's only 1 Pm here in Seattle, but I'm seeing some of your clocks be ahead. Might be residual from me almost needing a new one earlier.

Vice: As I said. The moment we got back we had our links taken from us, anything else electric turned off, and they EMPed us something HARD. We're talking I woke up 2 minutes later hard. That stuff may be nasty for computers, but it isn't exactly nice to the awakened it seems. I'll definitely pass what I have along, but we're not yet sure who to trust with it. I haven't even shown Grandfather this stuff yet.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Imma be honest, it may just react like most everything else when zapped, which may mean it has something physical actually holding it together. I have a...personal idea as to what I could be, but I don't want to start spreading that kinda word until I'm damned sure. Lets just leave at calling it Shagnasty or Creature for now. ESPECIALLY if it's what I think it is.

Really, really didn't like the fire though. Not sure if it does extra damage, or if it just really, really hates it. I was too worried about getting the hell out of munching range. Ice may come up with the same thought I had when he sees the data, but this is the first time I've wanted to be so, so, so badly wrong. Last hint: A native nightmare, and we REALLY don't want it to be real.]<<<<<

>>>>>[This network is not secure. But things I've seen, and heard of back in my army days, lead me to believe that you were right on the money, Card. If I'm right, it wasn't so much the electricity or the fire that did the trick, but the magic. The area you were sent to investigate, what was the background count like? Had there been any major magical events recently?

All I can say here is that I've seen something similar before, inside an alchera. It was... not friendly, to put it mildly. If you really want to get the clean scan on what you were dealing with, pretty much your only option is to go hunting for the Laughing Man, and see if you can't convince him to share. Good luck with that, though. From what I heard back in the Tir, he's not exactly known for being the most forthcoming guy. If tracking him down doesn't suit you, then your best bet would be to see if you can convince Wordsmyth, Orange Queen, Script Diver, Hecate, or one of the others of that group from the Shadowland days to speak with you. Again, good luck with that. Just remember the saying about making deals with dragons.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Well, I was thinking native Americans, but either way, it's not good. The background count was...well..I'm gonna be honest when I say I didn't really feel much at the time, but looking back...well, it explains the mage needing to be put on a stretcher after we were picked up. He was bleeding pretty bad. I'm not saying toxic, but more like....really low mana. Then again, we had looked through the reports and well, other then the usual handfulll of metahumans, the cities hit never really had many registered Awakened. A hand full here and there over the past hand full of years.

That door bell is likely either your guy, or my watchers escorting your guy. I guess I'll see in a minute or two.

A weird thought....we were talking about fears on the trip over, and the Samurai said his biggest fear was his gear over heating to the point of melting. Mrf. I'll deal with hindsight later.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Card, if it is alright with you, I'll ask Miri to give me a copy. I have a few contacts who will need to know about this. They're in a better position to start dealing with this.

I had the same thought Miri did about what these things might be. I muyst admit, I do not know enough about Native American lore to follow what you're hinting at. Either way, I can get this info into the hands of people better able to deal with it.

And Miri...I'll do it, but not for credit. She's a lovely girl, and I think she and are...compatible...but if I am to give her what she asks, I'll need something else. Like the ancient Tiki her father keeps in his personal collection. She gets me that...we have a deal. Let me know what she decides. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well, the lack of any major awakened activity in the area is troubling. If mana is that low, there's usually a reason, and it is usually nothing good. I'm reviewing the files now, and from what I can see, your Grandfather and his brethren would be well advised to keep out of that area for now. If there have never been many Awakened people in that area, and the Triads have been moving into that area, then it could be that these things are reacting to the use of mana itself. The more spellcasters come to the area, the more this Creature reacts. Again, this is just a theory, but it fits what I've heard so far. If they are going to go in, I'd suggest testing it first with mundanes, with no active spells or foci in their midst. It would confirm whether or not the use of magic draws it, but they'd likely lose the team they sent in.

Xerena, a copy is on its way. Also, the girl's father agreed to give you the Tiki, but the sick fragger wants a simrig recording of the 'business' with his daughter. Yes, I know its twisted. But you wouldn't believe some of the sick requests I get in my work. Part of the price tag is discretion, which means these society types can indulge in all kinds of kinks they wouldn't want the world to know about. Last week, this Japanese lady insisted on calling me 'nii-san' the whole time. And then there was the woman who wanted me to dress up as a wolf... Yes, it scares me too, sometimes.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ You know...this deal is appealing to me less and less. I don't like simrigs. The very idea...ugh. But very well. Although this will probably be the last time I use this technique to get my hands on something. And if even one of you so much as cracks a smile, I will end you. I mean it!

Mmm...*laughs* A wolf suit? Oh, how I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that one! You should speak to Ysoni. He can tell you all sorts of stories about him and that hulk of a shifter he runs with. And by 'runs with', I mean exactly what you're thinking, you sick, sick man. *laughs*

Nii-san! I'll be sure to use that from time to time.

Thanks for the copy though. I've forwarded it to those who need it. And Card honey...feel free to call on me if you need anything. I know exactly what it feels like to see more than you really want to. Miri and I will help in any way we can. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ And I am further reminded why I keep this place in my favorites. Thanks for the general mental and moral support guys. Grandfather isn't planning on going back there with any of his men any time soon, unless he suddenly gets full control of like, the CC. But then, he'll likely just dump a full sat of Thors into the area...and then into Aztland. Given that it may be blood magic related (I can only guess, and it makes me shiver), I'm gonna drop the files over to DIMR 'anonymously' and see what happens. I'm REALLY hoping it's just a horrible Blood Magic creature instead of a...well...Shagnasty is about the only way I'm comfortable referring to these things if it IS what I think it is. Though, I know the Indian Councils will likely flip on it too....so it's tempting to drop them a letter with a package. Unfortunately I don't think the B&E was cybered enough for recording, or I would have done my damnest to grab that for you guys.

But for now it's business as usual. Back to amateur bouncing and speeding along with packages. Never thought my usual would sound so, so safe and sweet. Also: My actual knowledge of the area is fairly thin, just what we needed to know. For all I know something similar to the Deep Laguna is under that area. I won't know with out a LOT of extra research.

Oh! On a SERIOUSLY lighter note, I also heard a rumor that, thanks to an 'anonymous series of letters' from a large group of fans, Horizon may be looking into reviving the old Toku genre, and may be looking for adepts for obvious parts. I'll definitely be keeping a close watch on that. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Hey! I'm not sick. I just happen to do business with a lot of sick people, that's all. Anyways, I'm sending you the girl's info so you can arrange a meet.

Thankfully, the kind of people who want to do the REALLY sick stuff, the snuff and mutilations and other such drek, are also the kinds that (generally) know it is better to get a nobody off the street than me for those games. The ones who don't get it either can't afford me, or they find out what fun it is to have a spirit possess them.

Card, glad to be of service. My contacts were thankful to hear of this. You'll be receiving a 'care package' for your troubles. Not cred, but some real chocolate, fresh fruit, and ten bottles of some of the best liquor in the Tir. Should help to get you through the first part of dealing with one of those "things you can't unsee" moments. Also, they asked me to let you know that research into topics like this is likely to draw attention from parties who have a vested interest in keeping things quiet. Walk softly, and cover your tracks.

Xerena, thanks, but one 'wolf story' is enough for me right now. Though if I learned the shapechange spell, I'd probably be able to pick up a lot more business... *sigh* There really are some twisted people out there.]<<<<<
