Yep its me again Margret. Er....forums.

So my physical adept didn't quite go as I imagined, looking over our team I figured we could use some straight up magic. So, having loved them in third edition I decided to make a Shaman.

So the rough idea is my character is actually pretty professional but he covers it up with the image of a feckless party animal. He comes from off the streets, and I was hoping to make his spells sort of flow in that direction. There is one thing I will need help with. I was thinking of having Enabler for example, but then I thought maybe I should save that for when I start to get XP.

Here's the rough start.

Knowledge Skills: English N, Greek 1, Literature 3, Or'Zet 3, Safehouse Locations 3, Spell Design 4, Street Rumors 4

Drop Banishing, it stinks. Use 10 of those BP to pick up another point of Body.
Also, specialize after with Karma for point efficiency, and maximize your armor.

What Arkangle said.

Elfs are great shamans but I guess you know that ;)
My own character is in fact an Elf Cat Shaman and he rocks  ;D

+1 Body would be nice. 1 more condition track and better armor options. Generally speaking your attributes are kind of average. I would lower some and raise others for better dicepools where it counts (and it is cheaper when you are starting to spend karma). Example -1 Logic and +1 Intuition for +1 Initiative and the same amount of starting knowledge skills. Agility -1 and +1 Reaction because you really don’t need agility that much compared to better initiative.

Lower Con to 1. Raise Counterspelling to 4. Drop Dodge (You are better of casting spells than tumbling around). Lower Etiquette to 1. Lower Perception to 1. Lower Pistols to 1 (Or better drop it or if you really want to be able to shoot instead of just stunbolting people then use automatics or heavy weapons for grenades). Lower Summoning to 4 and raise Spellcasting to 6. Get Binding 4 (if you are short on points Binding 4 is more important than a high Summoning so you can lower Summoning to 1).

Armor makes you glow so it isn’t that great a spell. Get an elemental type spell to deal with drones and vehicles.

You could do better with your armor. Form Fitting Body Armor and SecureTech stuff for the rest.
Glasses with extra vision enhancements are nice.
Foci are nice. A Sustaining Foci R3 for your Imcrease Reflexes. And a Power Foci R4 (with Restricted Gear) will give you a huge boost from the start and is one of the best investments you can get as a magician.

rasmusnicolaj covered most of it. The two things I'll add:

1) You might want to replace Armor with Trid Phantasm, depending on your focus, rather than an elemental spell. Not being able to hurt drones isn't fun, but it sounds like you aren't primarily combat-focused and you can always sic a spirit on drones. Trid Phantasm is a really good spell and fits with the type of spells you have.

2) Are you absolutely 100% set on Shaman? Orks are much better at Intuition traditions, and you also have Dionysius (who I assume is Horned Man), which (for one thing) isn't part of any Shamanic tradition and (for another thing) is a penalty on most social skills which kind of cancels out the value of high charisma. I would really, really think about switching over to Goddess Wicca, which probably does include Dionysius along with the kitchen sink and is an Intuition tradition. Also, Horned Man is a bonus to Plant or Guidance and shamans get neither, whereas Goddess Wicca gets you Plant. If you do, you can swap Charisma and Intuition and save 15 points.

Dropping armor now, I keep forgetting it makes you glow! Trid Phantasam is perfect, so I am going to tack on that one.

Dionysius is basically "The Seductress," but re-tooled. , "More the hedonist, less slutty McSlutpants." +2 to Illusions, +2 to con, has to resist vice. I'll take a look over the other traditions, game is tonight. Shamanism isn't 100% what I'm looking for but I can't quite parse it into Shadowrunish.
