Hello to all  :D

Im new to shadowrun but so far i like it and im about to GM a One shot sesion for my player to try it however normally i prefer to always do the first play with a pre made adventure so we can play the game in the more estandar version possible and if we like it then we pass to a campaing (not the same char though).

I have seen a lot of premade adventures but i dont know which would be best for new players and GM, we tend to go with action packed sesions.

My players are: a troll adept who good at hitting things with a machete, and elf mage swordman, an Street samurai with a whip, a technomancer who cant do combat at all and a face (stereotype of the core)

what one shot adventure would any of you recomend to start with?

thank you all

99 Bottles (of Yakuza)

I have found it to just tickle me.

Food Fight is good for learning the rules, but it isn't really an adventure, but rather a single scene scenario.

Other than that any of the missions work well since they are made to help lead the GM through and the team makeup doesn't have to be ideal to complete it since they are written to run at the conventions also where you never know what mix you'll get at the table.

Although, it is a Plot Seed, if you want to tweak something. Maybe the woman offers them a job, or there's someone else in the store that sees them in action and is impressed enough to hire them, etc, etc.

Just a quick +1 for the Shadowrun Missions pdfs. Just bought some of season 4 from Drive Thru RPG and I am really pleased with my purchases - really easy to follow (I'm a bit of a newby GM too), lots of ideas for tweaking scenes to make them longer/harder, all bad guy stats provided, colour pictures of NPCs and only $4! Seriously, I think the Missions I've purchased might be some of the best value Shadowrun products I've ever bought...

How much money did we agree on Bull?  ;)

Or the whole thing could have been arranged by someone who wanted to see them in action (for a more traditional "sinister" Mr. Johnson twist), and hired some throwaway wannabe-Shadowrunners to attack the Stuffer Shack in the first place.

I didn't mean that there aren't tons of things you can do that could have started with Food Fight. I was just saying it isn't a premade adventure ready to use out of the box. I ran it as an intro for getting new players used to combat and we moved on. It wet their whistle well so to speak, and they learned the basics.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but wanting more of what the OP asked for in the first place.

I'm a longtime fan of the SR world going back to the Sega Genesis game. I've got the 'food fight' scenario in the fast play rules. I'm looking at eventually running the Boardroom Backstabs adventures, but with only #1 out so far, I don't want to jump the gun. I also think the PC's should be more experienced before doing that big profile of a mission.

I'd like to keep them more Seattle focused early on. Any reccomendations besides the Missions books? I'm already planning on looking into these and don't have an opinion yet. We have a fairly balanced 5 person party. Thanks for any help.

Free Taiwan is a Seattle based mission (and it's free)

99 Bottles can work (it's in Thailand, but getting to/from Thailand is covered in the adventure in a clean manner.)

The 1st edition Sprawl Guide and the Seattle Guides of all editions, particularly the 3rd edition one. There's no big sprawling adventures here, but the Sprawl guide in particular has tons of descriptive encounters and templates for small runs, in addition to a bunch of other useful stuff such as characters/npc templates. You'll find lots of ready made small encounters that you can run as is, in addition to lots of ideas for adventures in all these books. You'll have to convert stats obviously, but worth it in my opinion for the ideas and the ideas the books stimulate.

Sounds good for fluff material or ideas. I'm just afraid I don't have the time to craft my own adventures at this point. Or go through trying to convert a whole module from one edition to another. Hence why I'm asking for advice on pre-made adventures like the OP titled the thread. (Sorry, don't mean to sound snippy. I'm tired. I'll zip it now. :-X ) I've looked at the Missions series (season 4) and Free Taiwan. Those may be all the options I've got from what I see so far. That'll probably be enough to cover for awhile unless anyone has other recommendations for pre-made adventures.

Thanks for taking the time to help a new GM!  ;)

Honestly, Missions Season 4 is great and you can easily spin each one out to more than a session - they even have suggestions for how to do that. They're a great choice and super cheap for very high quality.

A one-shot?  Try On The Run from the Runner's Toolkit.  Heck - get the toolkit anyhow.  It's loaded with all kinds of SR goodness.

The toolkit is a good investment, but the On the Run adventure may not be the best bet. If your players are playing characters that are completely professional and don't ask questions as to the 'why' behind a job, there's a good chance they'll never see half of it.
