Sweet what a lovely little drone indeedy. Not a lot of use for a combat rigger at all but fantastic for watching things and unless i`ve missed something perfect and cheap enough to store 5 or 6 in a Urban Explorer Helmet to launch for area overwatch or to max out a Tacnet?

They sound good enough that people might watch for them and shoot them down. Not sure how easy that would be though.

With a little work, your Rigger can have a Mini-Deathstar of Doom!

Oh wow, very nice indeed. One of the links on the figures for shadowrun thread lead to a mini very very like that. Only prob is how would it fly in Shadowrun, ducted fan? Also I`m puzzled as to just what fits into the Flying Eye sensor wise as they have an Improved Sensor Array but are very tiny indeed and the fluff would lead us to think they have optical sensors but a limited signal range?

We have Vertical Thrust TANKS in Shadowrun (That smugglers love!).  Miniaturize the technology and you have a really loud hoverdrone.

As the fluff text mentions, that the drone behaves erratically like a fly, I would expect that there are actually some sort of insect-like wings attached to it. Other then that, I outfitted mine with Gecko tips for wall-hanging and chameleon coating for another -4 to detect (in addition to the -6 for it being a microdrone) . The rest of the stuff I would love to have on the drone, doesn't realistically fit on something that isn't any bigger then your thumbnail.

Well realistically chameleon coating should have a minimum size limitation to be effective.

Can you elaborate on why that would be?

Ruthynium Polymer/Chameleon coating basically work by adding an additional sensor network and a polymer overlay to the device to allow it to mimic it's surroundings. On vehicles and armor this is pretty trivial. On Minidrones and Microdrones that would actually be a fairly significant change in weight and sensor capabilities.

TLDR: Their too small to support it.

.... except ou have no idea how miniaturised those sensors might possibly be.

True fact: in SR4, you can put a Camera in a Sensor RFID.  It's significantly smaller than an aspirin, yet it has a full-blown digital camera in it.  Think about that.

The question of whether or not a modification is too heavy or bulky for a drone to mount is covered in the rules by the "slot" mechanic. Chameleon Coating is 2 slots.

While it's true that the smaller the object, the higher the surface-area-to-volume ratio and the more weight problems adding an extra layer to it causes, it's also amazing how miniaturized the electonics in SR4 are. You can put a digital camera and a display system for AR in a contact lens.

YAY 2 slots it can fit an Enhanced rigger cocoon.Damnation not even I`m that cheesy to use that as a point to argue RAW and RAI. Loving the gecko and the chameleon.... hooold on tho... can`t we boost its System to 5 and run the Emosoft with  Ergonomic and the one that lets it run above the system specs. Then the Johnson wouldn`t be irritated by Runners turning up with Barney sat on their shoulders? Hell its probably rocking enough channels with the Improved sensor package to almost form a Tacnet. Sudden mental image of one of these beauties in every room of a complex each using a subscription to a nexus and connected via Complete Skinlink to an induction pad discretely mounted somewhere in the room so it wouldnt be wi fi broadcasting just effectively part of a wired network?,Still got one slot left but the little things getting v expensive now 10.6k. Hmm anyone know how to find the Emosoftware in Chummer? 8)

Rigger cocoons are Standard, so no, it can't fit a rigger cocoon.

Except that, you know, the Rigger coccoon is a [Standard] modification, and as such, cannot be installed in a Microdrone or Minidrone - regardless of slots.

Also, there's the whole "GM discretion" thing.
