The idea for this character is it will be half combat and half hacking. The hacking will be mostly limited to shutting down enemies weapons/cyberware during combat. I've hit a few snags and could use some general advice.

I want to have no sim module. I figure this way I'm immune to hammer/ice, and I'll get the Sensitive System quality for characterization. This should lend to a more interesting hacker with all of the stops except for a sim module. This means I would solely operate in AR, which means I do not get the +2 for hot sim and probing is basically worthless. But being immune to any biofeedback seems invaluable, and could really throw off some conventional hackers. All I would have to do is purchase a pair of AR gloves to use my comm

I've also been looking into perhaps not having to get the Cybercombat skill. The book says in the title of the Attack program, Attack (Hacking/Cybercombat), but I can't find a passage that says I can use hacking with it to deal damage.

Add a cyberarm of awesomeness to boost your shooting skills.

Well UmaroIV's Combat Hacker is darn good, though it doesn't utilize anything that wouldn't be permissible in missions. I'd take a look at it if I were you. Of course, I'd also note that I typically prefer adapting UmaroIV's Mercenary Rigger to hacking focus than using the Combat Hacker, but that's a personal preference, as they are both very good, IMHO.

As for alternative stuff, if your GM allows you to use pirated software rules and/or you are considering using Activesofts in-game, then you might consider Move-By-Wire 2 instead of the usual Wired Reflexes 2 and Reflex Enhancers 2. Assuming you want all the benefits it grants you (including the bonus Dodge ranks), you're basically trading 6 BP (1 in nyuen cost, 5 for Restricted Gear) to save 1.5 essence.

Move-By-Wire (Rating 2) 3 Ess / 85K nyuen and Restricted Gear = Reflex Enhancers (Rating 2), Reflex Recorder-Dodge (Rating 2 - which technically doesn't even exist), Skillwires (Rating 4), Wired Reflexes (Rating 2) 4.5 Ess / 80K nyuen.

Make it Move-By-Wire (Rating 2, Second-Hand) and, assuming you want all the benefits it grants (including the bonus Dodge ranks), it actually costs less in terms of both creation BP and character Essence then buying all the parts separately (and of course there is no rating 2 reflex recorder).

Changed the first post entirely, bumping for relevance.

If you're using meat space Iniative for cybercombat then you'd be dumped pretty quickly in cybercombat anyway. Get a good level of agent, give it attack program and let it fight for you. Problem solved :-)

Yeah from the sounds of it you'd basically have to let your programs do all the work like letting an attack dog of the leash an pray they are smart enough to get the job done. From the sounds of it you'd be hacking like people do it these days haha. So worst you'd have to worry about against ice etc is your programs crashing and your gear frying which depending on what your GM throws at you could be very difficult or easy. But seeing as most GMs are not cruel. You'd probably be able to use the character pretty effectively. Gotta admit jamming someone's gun before poping up to shoot them your self would be fun. heck you might wanna look into virus programs to boot. Make one that's designed to spread to all others synced with that person. Ask your GM "is the squads commlinks subscribed to one another for a better tactical advantage?" and if yes the virus could possibly spread to all of their guns and lock up the gun completely by turning its system to total slag haha. Ugh hope that wasent too much rambling.
"My name? It was a mistake, when I was just a kid compared to now I wanted it to be as a joke version of a script kitty. With Script as my handle. I misspelt Script from typing it too fast, an well it just stuck. Any real hacker would get the joke behind it, I guess that's why your so confused."
