What do y'all think of a bola launcher? Would that be best represented by taking the grenade launcher rules? I'm thinking an over the shoulder cannon with a small clip.

Technically a bola could be 2-3 grenades linked and thrown. Something should make them seperate and spin about but it could work in the same way as a burst from a grenade launcher.
And then use HE grenades to give your target an exploding neck-tie.

I actually think Q demonstrate that for 007 in one of the newer films.

You hit spot on with what I was going for. Something like repeated electric pulse bolas could be cool too, although after thinking about it afterwards I'd be better off just using a grenade launcher with sticky grenades. It's cheaper and more reliable. Grenade bolas just sounded so cyberpunk though.

Also, are there any shock grenades?

If I recall correctly, there's already an Underbarrel Bolo Launcher in the books. I'm out of the house right now though, so I can't look up the exact book.

Arsenal, in the weapon add on section after they show off the new guns, page 33. There is also a highly illegal monofiliment wire version of that weapon on page 41, costing 2,500 nuyen and having a 16F availability rating, if you are twisted enough to use it. :D

Comment edited due to proper information. ;)

I am suddenly reminded of the double-barreled cannon from the civil war. Except instead of bolas, you had a pair of cannonballs with a heavy iron chain linking them.

Chainshot, it was used in navies the world over long before the US Civil War.

I see the Bolas Launders being similar to a crossbow, drawn very tightly then snapped forward launching the two spheres at the target.  It's great as a capture/incapacitation device for non-lethal captures.  Like bounty hunting.  Get 'em wrapped around the legs as they're running and laugh as they faceplant.

Yes, I know that makes them look like a Bowcaster from Star Wars, you got a problem with Chewie?

Dear lordlessness I want a troll with a double barrel cannon with chain shot. He'll have to dress like this.

It's shadowrun, of course there are people twisted enough to use this.  It would be fun to see them critical glitch with it though. :o

"Oops it looks like you loaded that wrong. Woah hey! Is that your hand?"  Considering that it's an exotic weapon I'd opt out of being that kind of "twisted" unless I had a fat Agility score.

You forgot that the plain old regular bolas are also considered an exotic weapon. The positive news is that if you are skilled in Exotic Ranged Weapon: Underbarrel Bola Launcher, you can use either variation with the same skill. Also remember that you could use monowire climbing gloves whenever you load in the lethal version.

Use this infomation with a song in your heart, friend, for now you can choose how painfully the large will fall. ;)

You get half credit for that one CanRay. The double barreled cannon is a civil war weapon, it sucked at its' job and is now located in Athens, Georgia.

However, chain shot is used as you described.

From the description of its test firings, I say that sounds amazing. Fire ten of those at an advancing army, see what happens ^^

Not practical in the civil war, but there is potential with modern technology.

Hmm, a double-barreled assault cannon...

Imagine the disaster if one of a pair doesn't go off or misfires?

Since tech is crazy awesome in shadowrun I've always assumed mono-bolas had a reel system inside one of the balls so you didn't have to worry about getting sliced up while carrying them. Sort of like the monowhip having a weighted ball on one end and the wire stored in the handle when not in use.
