The more I think about it, the less I believe we actually have the time to drive up there and survey the area in person. Especially since its night. So we will have to rely on sattelite maps for now.

What Durkon is looking for is an ambush spot in the desert. So ideally it would be:

- secluded,
- with some kind of chokepoint where their vehicles would drive through,
- and a position nearby with some cover against gunfire.

We can go into the desert at night.  Both of us have thermographic vision, and I at least have a sleep regulator so missing a night's sleep is not a biggie (Jade has done so before).  Let's do it differently then.  you look over the maps, and I'll check out the sites you identify.  You can even join me in the astral

Missing a nights sleep isnt my main concern, but if we go with a plan of one of the others, that might be going down tonight. And even though they will be running the main show, we should be able to stand by to support them.

Well, add something in IC and I'll reply to it.  :)

I like that plan.

lonewolf, will wait until an appropriate amount of time has passed in game to tell you what Durkon has found, as obviously that's not a 3 second task or ought.

Btw, apologise if things are are slow over the next week, but I'm sure that a lot of the rest of you have things on for Christmas as well.

Oh yeah. I'm not even going to be on tomorrow most likely. :)

For when we resume: what rolls do I need to make for Ephemera to hack into the target's comlink or something of his so he can be tracked?

Well I hope all of you have had a good Christmas.

Mysteris - Here we hit my patchy knowledge of the rules! However, the first thing you will have to do is locate the target's commlink, so start for a roll for that - which I believe would be Scan.

edit: lonewolf, farothel - unless you choose to do something different, I'm going to have Durkon stay in the city and Jade work in the desert, as that's where you appear to be heading.

I'll be with Durkon at first, but as soon as he has identified some likely sites, I'll go out to check them.  Unless the other groups have found a way to deal with the issue in the meantime and we're needed to give support.

Right, well I'll run you through having a look at the sats, and then go from there.

I assume that finding those two spots takes a bit longer than 5 minutes, so I'll wait a bit to give the others time to catch up.  :)

So, I'm looking at what Natsumi has and I believe her Analyze complex form would let her search for the commlink signal belonging to our team's target.

I got 5, 5, 6, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 6, 5, 2, 4
5 hits on 12 dice (reroll)

Let me know if you want any rolls for Snap to use his Ferret and Dragonfly to build a 3D map of the exterior of the target's hotel, the interior adjacent to the exterior (via UWB radar), and the immediate surroundings. Snap is doing this in command-chair mode, so any rolls for the drones will be Command + Skill. Snap's Security Design knowledge skill might also be relevant, both in relation to interpreting signs of security features and for how cautious he needs to be to make sure the drone's aren't spotted, or their signals detected. (I'm assuming the risk of detection is low, given the hard-to-see drones and the congested EM spectrum in a downtown area.)

Will Snap have finished this before Jade's request for an update arrives? If he has extra time Snap's next step is to buy a hi-res commercial mapsoft of the area (let me know the price) and run a comparison. Any discrepancies are worth a closer look.

As for guarding Ephemera, Snap will have her Roadmaster drive around the city to various shopping destinations chosen at random. In addition to keeping an eye out for an old-fashioned tail, Snap will periodically use his radio signal scanner to compile a list of close-range signals, and then compare successive scans as they drive about the city. He doesn't worry about the details--it's just a big list--but anything that repeatedly shows up and can't be attributed to a known device is potentially a tracking bug or a shadowing drone.

Apologies for the silence and hope you had a good New Years - questions will be answered when I find out what I did with my bloody books.
