"It be good to have an idea of who we're dealing with. Crime records will get us priors and known and suspected associates and affiliations. That'll tell us if we should try Clem's plan and if we should go with my follow up plan. So get in, so that you can pull up files on these guys as we meet 'em."

"Done right, a hack like that would take hours in VR.  Can we really afford to take that long before going to the meet?"

[Necrogigas]

"No, it can't wait that long. Any way for you to speed things up?"

[RHat]

"There's two basic ways to go about penetrating a firewall - the long way, and the stupid way.  As a rule, the latter is a last resort because the chances you get caught are a great deal higher.  For something like a police database, trying to do things fast could cause us some serious trouble."

[Necrogigas]

"Alright, fine. We'll wing it then."

[RHat]

"I suggest we keep the options open for now, so that we can do whatever it is we need to later."

[HydroRaven]

"There's no point in assuming 100 different scenarios. Let's just get some links, meet the guy and see where it leads us. I'll do what I have to do to get us across that border, but I'll kill only if that's our last option." Clementine looked at O'Connor for that last part, quickly getting her eyes back on the road.

While everybody was out and about, Sammy was still in the diner chatting up some locals.  It was something she missed at times, although more like this than the stuff she had to do in LA.  There you often were paraded in costumes hardly worthy of the name in front of a whole lot of boring people with a high PITO rating.  Here people were at least honest, or relatively honest.

"I'm just saying we don't want to be planning to screw someone over, and then find out they're incredibly connected."

"Eh ... I might be able to arrange a less conspicuous accident, should it come to that, Clem. We'd still have to meet the guy first, stall on any purchases we can't do on Blackeagle's cash, and not ask for anything he doesn't have in-house. This way also works with confirming we have the right target."

[HydroRaven]

"Alright, that sounds good" answers Clementine to Icarus' suggestion. "But first, the commlinks."

[RHat]

"Can we at least call the lethal-force option plan M?  There's got to be any number of other options."

[Necrogigas]

"Look, Red, if we're gonna scam these guys, we need to deal with 'em. We already have too much shit goin' on to leave a few wildcards in the mix. For know, we go with the plan Icarus laid out and feel things out with this Eddie guy. We're gonna have to buy some of his product, if we're gonna ask him to set us up with guns or at least a guy with guns. After that, and gassin' this guzzler, we're outta money. If our goal here is to scam these guys for weapons, we need to figure out a way to get the guns into our hands without showing them the money we don't have."

[RHat]

"See, this is what I'm saying - we can't afford to be deciding to scam them right now.  We just don't have the information we need.  And either they're not all that connected, in which case we probably don't even need to worry about them, or they're connected and we can't afford to assume that their allies or bosses won't put two and two together no matter how much of an accident its made to look like.  Killing them creates more loose ends and wildcards, not less.  Might well be we need to find a way to get some money, or some other alternative payment.  We can't afford to be stumbling blindly around in this."

[Necrogigas]

"Well I wanted more info, but you said it'd take too long. We're either running the border or trusting a smuggler, either way we need weapons. How do you propose to do that with no money, and not ripping someone off? The way to tie up loose ends here is with a liberal application of overwhelming violence towards all the guys we're rippin' off and, of course, any witnesses. No one can rat us out if they're all dead."
