I apologize if this has come up before and been answered, but I didn't find a relevant thread in my search.

While street cred and notoriety are covered in the rules, I'm thinking of including some method of tracking the runner's reputation with different factions in an upcoming campaign. Certainly, a lot of corporate jobs will come through cut-outs and thus be relatively anonymous (as long as they don't get tagged somehow during the run). But in this case I'm looking at a lot gang and organized crime involvement, and my take is that those arrangements tend to be a bit more... personal.

My initial thought is to leverage the street cred/notoriety system. For example, a run on behalf of the Spikes that earns 10 karma and thus 1 point of street cred would also earn them a point of cred with the Spikes - but possibly have a negative impact on their rep with other, competing gangs.

Has anyone tried something like this before? If so, how did you track it?

If you look through the House Rules thread, one of the posters split cred/notoriety into 4: Shadow Rep, Street Cred, Notoriety, and Public Awareness. There's a little overlap between some (if I recall correctly Street cred is what other runners thought of you, public awareness was what everybody thinks of you), so maybe something like that would work.

Otherwise, you'd just have to throw up a new stat to track - I'd think of it like keeping tabs on Contacts and loyalties. In a sense they all have different levels of awareness and loyalties to the player(s).

That's maybe a solution, work with contacts and enemies.  If they do work for this gang, they get the gang as a low loyalty contact.  With more work, loyalty goes up.  On the other hand rival gangs (especially those that were targetted by your runners) can turn into enemies (maybe at the same overall cost as the contacts you give so it's neutral).

Wasn't there a system for exactly this in the Season 2 Missions?

Thanks for the Group Contacts suggestion - that has promise. I'd much rather adapt an existing system if possible.

Thanks, I'll look for those. I'm recently returned to SR after a 20-year hiatus, so I missed out on a lot of resources from the intervening years.

Season 2 is a free download off of Catalyst's site, and can be found here
