Title: [Hero Lab] Version 1.12 of the Shadowrun 5 files for Hero Lab is now available!
Post by: Mathias on <03-17-15/1135:07>
A new update of the Shadowrun 5 files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update makes our initial release of the Run Faster book available! The initial release contains everything except the three alternate character creation systems from the Construction Kits chapter and the shapeshifter races. You can add this package to your license from the "Purchase Data Package" option in the License menu, and it's available for $9.99. The remaining portions of Run Faster will be added as free updates for anyone who has the Run Faster package in future updates.

This update also adds two books from Catalyst's Enhanced Fiction line. The books Sail Away, Sweet Sister and The Vladivostok Gauntlet have been added to the Supplements #2 package, which is available for $9.99 and already contains the book Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation. This package is not complete yet. We'll be adding the book Nothing Personal, also from the Enhanced Fiction line, to this package, and at least one more supplement or pdf after that (although the exact book depends on what books Catalyst releases in the near future).

Here's the complete change list for this update:
New Releases!

Content from Run Faster is now available! You can purchase this by choosing "Purchase Data Package" from the License menu. This initial release contains everything except the new character creation systems and the shapeshifter races. Those portions of the book will be added as free updates in future releases.
Content from Sail Away, Sweet Sister and The Vladivostok Gauntlet are now available in the Supplements Package #2! You can purchase this by choosing "Purchase Data Package" from the License menu.

Enhancements & Changes

Applied the changes from the Shadowrun Missions FAQ version 1.3 (using a draft of that update dated 3/16/2015).

Bug Fixes

The sludge spirit was missing its Mutagen power.
Adding the free spirit modification to a spirit made the initiative incorrect.
Watchers and Homuncili were counting against the single unbound spirit that a character can have summoned at a time.
The Evasion, Maneuvering and Stealth Autosofts, when placed in an RCC, were not counting towards the RCC's program limit.
Damage overflow was not being displayed on the In-Play tab.
For a Magic choice that fixes Magic at 6, if Edge was set to 6+, the karma costs for purchasing additional special attribute points were not calculating correctly.
Critters (like Ghouls or Sasquatches) who were given an initiate grade could not select metamagic powers.

thanks Mathias, did you fix the magic cost increase bug that was causing incorrect karma cost to be applied?
(the bug I reported that caused a magic rating that was reduced by cyberware to cost the same to raise as the un-reduced stat)

thanks

Thanks Mathias. Any idea as to potential timing on the alternate character creation systems?

This one is simple to work around.  The "Advancement Karma Cost" adjustment on the Personal tab allows you to adjust the cost of an advancement.  The fix will be a very large project, since the way Hero Lab tracks gear purchases needs to be altered in order to keep track of what order each essence-altering thing was added in, and how that order compares to the order that magic attribute changes occurred, so that it can properly calculate the cost of each advancement to reflect the character's essence at the time that advancement was taken.

Unfortunately, there will be a delay. We need all hands working on Pathfinder Unchained, so I won't be able to get back to having Run Faster be my focus until at least May. I'm not sure how long the various pieces will take or what order they'll happen in after I switch back. I'm sorry that I won't be able to get you these pieces sooner.

ok downloaded and checked the update.

Looks like the magic cost bug is still present even though the correct cost is displaying in the advancements window.

So for example Character has Magic rating 5.
He adds some cyberware which drops his magic and essence by a point.
New magic rating is 4.
He pays karma to increase his magic back to 5, the correct cost is displayed in the advancement window (25) but the incorrect cost is actually applied (30).

Bit of a sad that you couldn't fix that for this release considering I reported it just after the last release came out.

And now I hear you guys are not doing any more updates to Srun until may sometime due to pfinder release schedule.

yaaay....

I did not say there would not be any Shadowrun updates during that period.  I will still be handling bugs and small Shadowrun projects, but I won't be able to take the time to work on a large Shadowrun project like the remaining pieces of Run Faster or any of the other large projects or complex bugs that are still on the to-do list.

I don't use Hero Lab, but it sounds like an enterprising runner might be able to reverse-engineer the Run Faster FAQ.  Yes?

As much as I like Pathfinder and all, I for one would rather see Pathfinder Unchained delayed than I would the rest of Run Faster.

Pathfinder is pretty much fully functional as-is right now, so a bunch of variant stuff (I hoopume that Pathfinder Unchained is like the Unearthed Arcana was) isn't really as important as a core book for SR, IMO.

Edit- No idea why a-s-s-u-m-e got transformed in posting...

Can't say I disagree at all, but would suspect this is about trying to capitalize on the release of the new book and drive revenue (at least it would be if I was in charge ;))

following that logic, the run faster addition should have been done by now, as its dead tree release was last month. however i CAN see a reasoning for waiting for it to become missions legal before the release for hero lab (which is exactly what has happened)

I just think it's better to put more focus on one of the core books for one game than on a book of variants for another.

Unfortunately for us, Pathfinder is magnitudes larger than SR in playerbase with a much more active organized play society. It probably also represents a large portion of Hero Lab users, especially when their system is the only one supported on mobile/tablet, and so they get prioritized even if Pathfinder is already a gargantuan bloated monster of a game. I was majorly disappointed that the Run Faster data files did not include at least the alternate priority-gen because that's precisely why I bought the update right away. That we aren't getting back to it til late spring/early summer for something that is a major component of the new sourcebook is not a great situation to be in. I wish I had known this sooner, I might have waited on buying the update if I'd known beforehand.

This was just serendipitous timing, to be honest.  The Missions FAQ is on Jason's virtual desk for approval right now, and while I don't expect any last minute changes, I want to wait until it's signed off on to release it.  But since the Hero Lab update was dropping before then, I went ahead and sent it to the guys to integrate, with the caveat that it's possible a couple things will possibly need to be tweaked.

Mathias, just wanted to let you know that the program is doing the Infected wrong.

Adding an Infected quality (say, vampire for example, because that's easiest) to a Human character suddenly increases a number of stats, and also provides the ability to add two more points to physical and two more points to mental stats. This is incorrect behavior. The rules in Run Faster should only add the optional +1 or +2 to the appropriate mental and physical stats, not add in a whole lot of stat bonuses and the optional points. Some of this seems carried over from the SR4 qualities, and should be fixed ASAP.

The only stat modifiers that should be applied are a few negative modifiers noted in individual qualities under "Gained Weaknesses."

On a related note: On my laptop, if I select an Infected quality, the drop-downs for the optional stat bonuses appear at the very bottom of the interface, and can't be reached. Worse, the window doesn't scroll to allow access to these dropdowns. This is a problem.

I'll get these up on the Wolf Lair forums just as soon as I get the chance, but I wanted to give you (and everyone else) a heads-up that something's wrong in this part of the update.

Those packages have everything from those books - the new weapons from sail away, the drug from sail away, the drone from vladivostok, the contact from vladivostok, and all the other content from the game rules supplements, along with all of the characters from those books.

BTW the crunch content I see for supplement #2 is:

Vladivostok Gauntlet:
4 NPCS
2 contacts
1 drone/pet
1 piece of gear (reactive biomatter)

Sail Away SS
5 npcs
2 positive qualities
2 weapons
1 drug
3 spells
1 mentor spirit

I don't see any content that would carry over from Sioux nation but perhaps I'm missing something?

Not sure if you're planning on adding another enhanced fiction content to the Supplements #2 but considering the small amount of crunch added it would seem to make sense.

I would suggest the game info from "Nothing Personal" which encompasses 4 NPCs and one Drone.

Not into the spam filter, but they did eventually show up. So we appear to be good. :) Thanks for checking.

I would suggest the game info from "Nothing Personal" which encompasses 4 NPCs and one Drone.

Supplements #2 will end up with roughly the same amount of crunch as supplements #1 (which has Aetherology, the Assassin’s Primer, Bullets & Bandages, Gun Heaven 3, Shadow Spells, and Stolen Souls) before we close it and start putting new books into supplements #3.  But at this time, since we don't know what supplements will be released when, we can't make promises about what will be in there, beyond what I said in the original announcement: "We'll be adding the book Nothing Personal, also from the Enhanced Fiction line, to this package, and at least one more supplement or pdf after that (although the exact book depends on what books Catalyst releases in the near future)."

Supplements #1 was just so big that even though all the books we knew of that would go into supplement packages (SiF: Sioux Nation and the three enhanced fiction books) were all small, we needed to open a supplements #2 package. So, yes, currently supplements #2 is small, but it will be added to over time.

The content from SiF: Sioux Nation is a set of skill PACKs - you'll see them on the skills tab in creation mode.

Thanks Mathias appreciate your responsiveness and attentiveness.

I'm very happy to be using a product that is professionally supported and in an ongoing development cycle.

Keep up the good work and get that pathfinder stuff finished so we can get more Srun stuff ;-)

cheers

dont know if this qualifies as a bug or not, but in hero lab rigger command consoles show that, when you hover over their device rating, they have an attribute array the same as a deck, with the stats listed equal to the device rating of the console. i for one would LOVE that to be RAW/RAI but alas that is not the case.

-EDIT-

i was mistaken about the steps for this, you have to add the command console to your matrix tab, click the edit this gear icon to bring up the dialog window, and then hover over the device rating or the data processing listing.
