Proteus has so many different possibilities to explore and exploit without necessarily having to go big as one might with an AAA.

As a random note, Proteus had worked out a deal with Mobile, alabama, to create an offshore facility, and teh city agreed to rename itself "Space City" as part of the deal. *something* happened in teh facility and Proteus washed thier hands of teh whole thing, leaving the half-finished thing rotting in the Gulf and bailing on teh city as a whole. Teh contract, however, requires the name change to stay in place for... hrm. I think it was 99 years? Can't recall. At any rate, teh city had been planning on a big fat windfall, but instead wound up with nothing and getting stuck with a new name. Not the happiest of people, but the CAS states tend to dislike one another, so, they've just been left to dangle.

(You can get more detail about this in Dirty Tricks, by the by.)

Aaand I need to do some reading now, since Proteus AG are the main big bad in the game I'm GMing. I knew I was going to be sending the team to an Arkoblock, bit having an unfinished one south of the CAS works wonderfully for me.

And this is why I lurk the forums. :-)

Oh, when you read about it and get the details, let me know what you think. There're actually, like, three, maybe four plot hooks all tied around that thing. (Nobody ever reads the fluff. Harumph!)

Will do. I love fluff info, it's where the best ideas for behond-the-scenes plot hooks and evil GM plans are born.

I always read the fluff.  Whether I remember it all is another story.  So much information, so many campaign ideas, too little time.   :'( LOL!

I read ALL the fluff and keeps notes on my tablet ... Never enough time to use all of it nor do have enough confidence or talent to run a lot of it properly (like Shockwaves above)
If Tom Brady’s a Spike Baby, what does that make Brees and Rodgers?

Okay, so I read through Shockwaves, and the section on Proteus AG in 4E's Corporate Guide. Previously I'd only ever read the Corporate Guide bit on them, plus one other section in another 4E book that had some fluff about one of their Aquacologies(something about workers basically living as psuedo-slaves in the lowest levels, etc, can't remember what book it was).

So, some relevant comments and questions. Putting a spoiler tag in just in case anyone doesn't want info.
So yeah, Shockwaves. Holy Drek. I realized the AA was involved in various technological conspiracies, but I didn't think that the actual FOUNDING OF THE MEGA was itself a conspiracy. And the whole bit about having hidden spies in numerous other megacorps, a board of directors that are essentially high-tech bunraku-style puppets, the extent of the conflict with ARES...Jesus. THIS is the stuff I love about Shadowrun, that there is the basic level of info, the conspiracy you discover that seems pretty dark and dangerous...and then deeper down at the bottom, there's a whole other level of scary going on.

Honestly, it makes me wish I spoke German so I could read the whole Schockwellen book, because I know just from the English summary that there's a lot of juicy extra info in there.

So, as I understand it, the puppet board of directors were all killed, Proteus paid a bunch of reparations to the companies it had been spying on/embedded in, and most of the spies(not all though) were rooted out and dealt with. Kevin Goldammer and the Prometheus Group are now back in charge with him as CEO, and he's taking it back in a transhumanist/Uber-SOTA direction(I saw mention of research into terraforming and space habitation, artificial biospheres, genetweaking and DNA writing, and dark-matter experiments), and while the corp's methods aren't as unethical and immoral as they were under his sister, they're still pretty unorthodox and secretive(I.E. they still experiment with super-weird fringe stuff, and ethical contraints are more of a grey area than a solid line).

Also, as of one of the 5E books, I believe it was mentioned that in late 2075/early 2076(shaky on time), Proteus was reacting to the CFD threat by locking down all of its Aquacologies and holdings, and security on them is SUPER tight. Like, completely sealed from the outside other than multiple layers of security checkpoints and screenings tight. Which makes sense, seeing as how they haven't given up ambitions to challenge or surpass other rivals in underwater and space habitation, as well as any number of bio/cyber/gene/nano/etc augmentation and design.

Anyways, thanks again to Crimsondude for posting the Shockwaves PDF, I love the info in there. I think for my campaign, I'll use the unfinished Arkoblock south of the CAS as sort of the plot catalyst, since it's speculated by people on Jackpoint in the fluff that it may not be 100% abandoned or empty. Sounds like the perfect place for a technologically-advanced AA Megacorp to house some secret Cyberzombie research in preparation for challenging ARES', EVO's, and SK's dominance of space and underwater real-estate.

Looking back on it, I must have translated/edited that from the original French while I was being chased.

I should add one rub that hasn't been addressed is

What happened to CATCo's representation/investments after Lucien Cross died.

yesssss thanks for all the info folks! I totally missed the thing in 'dirty tricks', gonna have to go back and re-read, that's waaaay too good not to use. Excited for the creepiness already.... My runners did an ACHE infiltration mission, so it may be hard to talk them into going into another similar situation though haha.

also, Magnaric- not only are their facilities locked down globally, there is an arkoblock in the harbor inside the Boston QZ (as well as various other labs- there's some info in Lockdown, pg 35). So who knows what might get loose in there!

There's a lot of good stuff in there, if you enjoy the CFD plotline (which I do)

Lockdown is definitely a great read even more so if you play the computer game.

Creep factor is definitely high.

Oh yeah., Like I said, it's only a few lines, but you can unfold it into a TON of stuff to do in and around Mob... err ... Space City.

I'm scheming already! my runners just had a run-in with some partial uplift Proteus facility guards while doing a mission for the OSI in Boston, they'll def be getting hired to head down to space city after they get out (if they ever do...)
