My mistake about getting the names backwards, guys, yes, Maria is missing and Ashely is the friend you were questioning.

Padawan, no, it's not bad, I got my inspiration for RP'ing her from Jwow lol

I agree with the comment that the mismatch in characters makes for the best story.  I like Needle so far.  I think you've nailed the uncouth part as well.  I can see how the "Uncouth" trait could be so easily mistaken for "is an asshole".  You haven't fallen down that hole, however.  Needle is quirky and "off" but not flat out rude.

Before Needle can walk out, Trog puts his hand on her shoulder. "Why leave? It's early in the day, do whatever it is you do here and we can start right away. If anything it'll let us finish this job quicker."

On her way out, Needle replies "Because the facilities I have on my bus are better equipped to handle what I'm about to do to this commlink than just doing it here in the open.  You are welcome to come with me if you like."

The exchange doesn't stop her from leaving, and it doesn't stop her from doing what she was going to do.

Consider that a ret-con for Trog stopping her.  She's still going to her bus, she's still driving to The Skeleton, and she's still hacking the commlink.  Unless someone physically stops her, that is.

Now, I must say, that even though I really DO like Needle's personality (I seriously do, don't change it!), this wasn't cool... especially the "exchange doesn't stop her from leaving" part.  That's up for me to decide, not a player.  With Lord not having posted anything yet today, we could have prolonged the encounter a little longer by AT LEAST rolling some sort of opposed test rather than saying "the troll didn't stop me."

A better way to express this situation would have been "Needle snatched the commlink and started heading for the door" and leave it at that.  Lord, the one who hasn't posted yet today (and that's fine, it's 1 post a day minimum) is the other hacker on our team and if anyone is going to dispute Needle's walking out it's going to be him.  If there weren't any other hackers on the team (as might be the case with a run that was planned out with time), this might be the case and I would just shrug it off, but I'm going to have to rewind time here a bit...

I'm going to stop Needle at being right outside the door, heading off to her bus.  If Lord wants to interject, this will give him time to run out after you and then you two can work things out between each other since he does have that right as a character and as a player.

So if Needle could edit her posts to exclude the getting into the bus and running her hacking programs and what not, I'd appreciate it.  Don't stop being uncouth though, I'm loving it!

Ok, I seriously disagree with you here.  The troll didn't stop Needle, he merely put his hand on her shoulder to ask where she was going.  Had he wanted to stop me, he would have posted that he prevented me from leaving.  Secondly, his words wouldn't have stopped Needle from continuing on about leaving.  He can talk til he's green in the face, but that won't stop her.

Secondly, I really don't like the idea of being railroaded into not leaving, especially when I've got dice rolls attached to my post.

Third, there is nothing stopping anyone from following me, especially when I already ret-conned my actions stating that, at the very least, the troll could come with if he so wished.  He chose to stay behind.

You can't tell me to continue playing uncouth and then tell me I have to ret-con my post so I don't leave.  Leaving is what she would have done, short of someone physically stopping her.

See, this is what I meant when I asked earlier about my having the quality.  I'm playing it the way I see it being played, and it's causing issues.

For the record, I'm not going to ret-con my post.  If you want to have some type of accident prevent the bus from physically leaving the scene, fine.  But I'm not changing what I did when it's a complete in-character move.

And on the topic of stopping actions at certain points:  I refer you to what happens to my character when I log off for the day and then back in during the morning.  I had 2 pages of posts to go through where nobody even paid attention to the fact that I was there.  Didn't stop anyone else from doing what they wanted.  Why should I be any different?

Go back to being outside of the restaurant door.

Lord hasn't had time to stop you and he's the likeliest to fight with you over that comlink giving the specialties you both have.  I told you all of this already in my last post.  Calm down, re read what I said, and you'll see that I'm stopping you from doing to Lord what you claim was done to you yesterday.

No one walked through you yesterday, no one walked past you into the restaurant.  Massimo opened the door and let everyone in thanks to your knocking on the door.

Again, go back to outside of the restaurant please.

Whatever.  I'll edit my post when I'm not on my phone.

This isn't a matter of doing to Gorean what he did to me. Yesterday, he completely ignored that I was I the doorway.  But whatever.

I'm not sure if Lasciel's assensing roll was high enough, but I suspect it might've been... she probably also notices that Siren has the Astral Beacon quality. Can't find anything specific in the rulebook about it, but I get the sense that it's supposed to be pretty obvious to astral types.

The assensing was mainly just a character thing, I'm sure once we get a chance to talk with everyone then we'll figure out who does what.

I think she would have noticed her aura was different or something along the lines of easier to find or trace just because beacon makes it easier.

Yeah astral beacon doesn't require any hits to spot with assense since it grants bonus dice to assensing tests in the first place.

Okay so once we get a response over if the clubbing was planned or not I'll post an IC summary/sample plan and then everyone can chip in as needed.
Is that okay with everyone?

Is Needle still indoors and available to be given an AR note, since she's already stated her commcode is public and not for shadow biz, which means no way of contacting her about the current op.

Needle is outside of the restaurant and available for a note, but I'm not 100% sure I understood the rules she laid out for contacting her on it.  Based on my understanding, all she asked was for you not to refer to her as "Needle".  I would assume that this would carry on to meaning that you shouldn't be too specific about the run at hand and maybe speak in some sort of code or double meaning if you have to reach her through comms.

Oh and about the "getting enough hits on the assense" question, I referenced the rule book last night and can't remember the page number exactly now but 1 hit was plenty to detect general emotions.

Well, that was worth ret-conning my post.   Lord didn't even pay attention to the fact that I was there, nor did he care that I left.  In fact, in his flurry of messages, he distinctly left Needle out.

*sigh

Can I go about my business and start hacking now?

I can't see the future, especially not when you state in this thread that you won't be retconning!

Sequence of events:

1.  Needle pushes her comm code
2.  Needle leaves
3.  Lord sends messages to everyone but Needle
4.  Post ret-conned to show she only made it to the door

Regardless of the ret-con, you failed to acknowledge I was even there.  That's the second time someone's done that to her.

Snape, I'm honestly not understanding where the OOC indignation is coming from. Just because you were standing in front of the restaurant doesn't mean Lord was required to mention you in his post; you were looking in the windows, he walked right past you into the door. That's it. This is the only thing I can think of when you talk about your character being ignored, as you were otherwise interacted with normally... Siren pointed her out to Concrete outside the restaurant, everybody acknowledged her taking the commlink and leaving.

And honestly, if you feel like your character is being ignored or marginalized, is moving her to a different location from the rest of the team (without telling them where you're going or giving them time to react) going to solve that? Likely not.

So, serious constructive question: what would you like us to do differently, IC and OOC, so that you can feel more like part of the group?
