From Twitter a few minutes ago: "@catalystgamelab: Just sent off an email so we can make a final decision on when the PDF/Print Preorders for SR5 will be launched.... rnb" (rnb being Randall Bills, I assume.)

So looks like we'll get a date announcement fairly soon.
Missed that - very good news indeed!

Which brings up the question of how much communication is required with Topps as far as game development goes. Are they mostly hands-off creatively, leaving things on a business-details-only level, or do Topps officials stick their hand in on such things as release schedules or product design? Gotta love curiosity. All it takes is a quick off-hand remark to get it fixed on something that's never come to mind before. ^_^

Given that CGL has not posted the release date, who did you order it from?

Probably a local game store.  You go in and say, hey when X comes out please order a copy for me and set it aside. That is what I did.

I probably phrased that wrong I meant how much time would elapse between the release date in the states and Australia. I admit I tend to buy more PDFs so normally the release dates correspond with the states but the main books I also tend to buy in DTF because it makes it easier at the table to have more than one copy.

Interesting that they release the Free RPG Day Quick-start rules for A Time of War, but not Shadowrun 5th...

Had the same thoughts, but am guessing the SR5 release will be out shortly.

Haven't heard any chatter on this matter, so I would assume whatever the normal delay is.

Ah. That's not a pre-order, that's asking somebody to order the book for you when they're putting their order together. Pre-order means you paid for the book. Wanted to be sure you didn't do this with somebody like Amazon. They make up release dates for books they don't have release dates on, which leads to disappointment when people find out they could have gotten the book faster from their FLGS.

That can mean anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks... I'll hope for the 2 weeks but expect the 8.

I have bought pretty much all my actual books from these guys so I have payed for the book already and they have never screwed me on a price, but they also told me that they had no release date for it either, hence my question about the time frame... The consensus here seems to be GenCon for release so that's not to bad I can wait till then....

Flip it over.  SR5 is on the other side.
