By the by, who else is in the clinic besides these two? I am not trying to get anyone hurt here, but my reactions change based on how much back-up I do or do not have and who is in the line of fire.
Well, just how popular is this clinic? I don't believe you ever said.
All that first aid & magic ate up some time, so for you guys it's about 7 o'clock Thursday evening (Novocrane is still back at about 5:30, I'm afraid; my bad there; I'll get that moving tonight.
). Devon was working the day shift; I'd assume there's someone around to handle the night shift. Beyond that, well, who's there is dependent on how big the clinic is. If it were a hole-in-the-wall that only dealt with basic walk-ins, I'd be ok with just having a flunky around to slap a bandage on whoever showed up; however, that doesn't seem to match what's happened so far--Devon's dad was there, there're several rooms for patients, etc.--so I'd assume that we're talking about Devon's dad and at least one assistant, as well as several patients.
Well, my figuring is this, it is probably the only health care facility in the immediate area, and Devon's dad is probably the only licensed doctor practicing in the Barrens, or at worst you could maybe count on one hand the number of them outside of Touristville, and he is definitely the best of those. He is open to using magical healing through his wife, so the clinic has that going for it as well and he probably opened the practice right out of school. I figure it is a good size place, probably on Doc Wagon/Crash Cart's radar, but not any real competition. The 'other' clinic is an operation that is intentionally kept low key, but does good business because they don't ask any questions and there is a real doctor involved. I figure there is a medical staff of 10 between the two locations, including Devon and his dad, with one or two other 'doctors' that are somewhere below Devon in skill level and the rest 'nurses'. The quotes are there because the only real trained person is his dad. Outside of medical there is probably an equal number of administrative, janitorial and orderly types, plus a few volunteers. (very old or very young candy striper types)
I can get detailed if you want, but that is off the top of my head.
