Just edge.
(If you do nothing but roll, post it in OOC)

I saw, nice one.
The rest of you, if/when heading down the fire escape, roll edge (and if you score no hits, Rea).
Damned thing just ain't as sturdy as it used to.

Yay, got a hit.  And Xyl, Gangs and Underworld are at 4.  I double-checked that one a bit ago.  Laesa is more underworld than gangs, though it might be enough with a 4 in each to know the Laesa have ties with he Ancients.

Help me out here... I always assumed you couldn't look through walls with Assensing. You can move through them, but not look through them. Same with windows: For the astral plane, a window's no different then a wall.

And Xyl, Gangs and Underworld are at 4.  I double-checked that one a bit ago.  Laesa is more underworld than gangs, though it might be enough with a 4 in each to know the Laesa have ties with he Ancients.
I know, that's why I said I had not problem with it, it fits in this setting.
I was just saying that this could've been an example of when metagame knowledge needs to be separated from character knowledge. In this game it's okay, the Laés have involvements other than being just a gang. But in most other settings, gang knowledge'd have been required for your character to know much (if anything) about them.

Unless they coated the walls with something alive and astrally active, astral perception cane see through it.  Same with windows.  Mana barriers and wards also block it.  But, it's pretty easy to tell which is which.

Its debatable actually, as you cannot cast through walls without a penalty (so that being in cover still affects a mage and they cannot just use astral perception to get passed enemies being in cover) you should probably give assensing through walls a -2 or -3 as you are assensing what is leaking through and visible the astral shadow that the solid objects dead spot is causing.

I always figured that a large part of that was due to the problems casting spells while perceiving.  If you want to take off the last few dice, or have ne reroll, I will.

Here's the edge roll, although I would have much rather roll reaction with Rat. Edge (3d6.hits(5)=2)

By "techy" I assume you mean "technomancer" (because a mechanic could be possible as well). I've never played one of those before, but the meatspace group that I play Shadowrun with picked up a Technomancer and practicing with a modified form of that one could help us all figure out exactly how a technomancer feels. I could shoot you the character sheet if you're interested (would you prefer the S4A KarmaGen excel sheet? Chummer?).

Technomancer or a straight up hacker.   We lost out matrix support.

^ Yeah, just anyone strong on matrix stuff. Social or hardware skills would sure come in handy too as the group isn't too powerful on those fronts. But I have no problem with them having a 'hole' in their skills.
Technomancer is definitely not a requirement at all.

@Anyone interested (MaxKojote, Mithlas, vinmun, ??): What games are you currently playing in?

Walls/windows & Astral: Consider them (and most inanimate objects) like being made of fog. You can move through no problem, but they're still there and can get in the way of LOS and make focusing on anything behind it harder.
It'll mean a dice pool penalty depending on the material and thickness of the wall and some other possible modifiers (the wall with mold and bugs inside is actually harder to see through than a clean one).

I was trying to start a game a few months ago, but interest fell out and I've got nothing outside of a meatspace game I run once every other week. The Matrix is an area I am less familiar than any of the others, so it could be a good test of experience if you wouldn't mind an inexperienced player taking the hacker.
