Good news!  Another forumite, MaxKojote, is going to cover the Matrix for y'all going forward so you're not destroyed by drones and automated buildings.  Max, post your character info when you're ready.

I promise to try  not to accidentally destroy you with drones and automated buildings. Anyway, here's Fang

-

Physical Description: A scrawny changeling, standing at 5' 10" and a thin 121lbs. Sharp, silver-green eyes stare out of a canine face, complete with muzzle, pointed ears, and sharp fangs. His entire body is  covered in fur ranging from cream around the chest and stomach to browns over most of his body, reach black over his hands, feet, muzzle, and the end of a bushy tail. The hands are tipped with sharp claws.

Backstory: Despite his name, Ulrich was originally born and bred in London. A lot of his polite and somewhat 'posh' nature  come from a somewhat privileged life. At  least before the riots. He had suffered severely through SURGE in the Year of the Comet, but he survived thanks to good medical care. He suffered through the horror of Crash 2.0 and coming into his virtuakinetic powers, only by virtue of keeping them hidden from his family. However things went south during the riots precluding the return of the Pendragon. Both of his parents were killed in the madness and he felt it would be best to flee the continent entirely; 'acquiring' a ticket to Seattle as quickly as possible.

Life in Seattle was fairly poor at first. He was  a changeling after all. But he managed to get some 'errands' done for some parties who gave him enough to live on. He was drowning his gloom at a nightclub when he ran into another changeling. A mechanic. Said mechanic was an agent of Jessica, who would become Fang's preferred Fixer. She decided to take him up as a new matrix specialist after her last  one got smacked around by black IC. He never revealed how he was so good with an inferior commlink, and she didn't ask. Only results were important, and he delivered.

The mechanic also became useful in setting up Fang in meatspace, helping him with a drone and a vehicle. Not all missions were in the matrix. And extra security was always welcome. The mechanic, Axel, and Fang also sort of started up a relationship. It still remains in its early stages, but both welcomed it eagerly.

Personality and Quirks: Fang is rather shy in meatspace. He's always polite, but comes across as somewhat nervous. An oddity of being on the matrix so often means he more often communicates by sending commlink messages or speaking through his commlink, even when meeting with a group in person. When he does speak, it's a rare event, and can be difficult to understand due to the lack of use of his voice and the shape of his jaw.

Contacts: Axel Nitrel - Adept  Mechanic - C1/L5: The boyfriend. Another changeling. Likes to use 'Enthralling Performance' on Fang
Jessica - Fixer - C3/L2: An extremely manipulative elf. Will do anything required to ensure the job is done.
Mitchell - Frontman - C4/L1: The frontman of a criminal network.

Crunch data:
Technomancer (not advertised), hacking primary and rigging secondary. Info Savant. Follows 01.
Also is fairly good at info gathering. Both from hacking and from simply browsing the Matrix.

Bullpen initially furrows his brow at the mention of a having a spell cast on him. He gives Invictus the once-over.

Invictus:
(Judge intentions: 6d6 -- 6 successes!)

Well, that was weird - got an email that there'd been a reply, so I went to check and saw this post appearing to be from Nobody; got another email a minute later and the exact same post is there, just from fourclover instead.  Strange.  :P

It's a mystery! Question it no further!

But actually, I'm married to Nobody.  ;) He left his account logged in and, well, here we are.

Also, if anybody is interested, this is where I've been getting my Cuban slang. http://everydayslang.wordpress.com/2009/09/30/cuban-slang/

Figured it was something like that, but bringing it up that way just seemed fun.

Also, for reference, 'Vic's Leadership (1)+Cha(3)+Empathysoft(6)+Result Advantageous(1)+Edge(3) roll came up with 7 hits to take the "leader" role. It's opposed by leadership + cha. The "advantageous" part is I can give us bonuses to various tasks listed in WAR! p. 137 if you're all on board.

I'll be playing it out over the course of the planning conversation, but I don't expect it to force your characters into anything. Just putting it out there as a benchmark for RP.

Good news everyone!  Well, actual good news, not good news like you have a delivery to the Zone of No Return in the Galaxy of Terror.

By arbitrary GM decree - the best kind of GM decree! - I have decided that Wednesday is now Karma Day here in The Deep Shadows.

I will distribute karma based both on participation (although quality counts so don't get any ideas of just posting your responses one word at a time) as well as completion of goals in game.

So, check your mailbox, you'll have a karma award there soon.

Max:  The group is communicating via Mindnet, so Fang cannot hear them.

I'll remove that post then, heh.

Oh right Marlowe. Are we using any of the optional rules from the splatbooks? Specifically the Technomancer rules for me, but some of the others might be  relevant to the other  players.

The only rule I'm familiar with that I don't like for Technomancers is Biological Nodes.

There is I believe a RAW that allows burst fire shotguns to do ridiculous damage with the ammo skip attachment as I recall that I'm also firmly opposed to, but those are the only two off the top of my head.  Like all GM's of course I reserve the right to rule on anything that seems to cheese-tastic.

What do you mean by Biological Nodes as a rule?

The ruleset I was referring to was 'The Resonance Difference' on page 137-138 of Unwired. Immunity to Crashing isn't counted as according to the SR4 FAQ, Complex Forms cannot be targeted by actions that specify programs, even by other Emerged beings. Immune to Nuke isn't needed for Technomancers as the Nuke program specifies it doesn't affect them.

Biological Node as in hacking a technomancers brain.  I'm leery of that optional rule set however because it means I'll have to either throw technomancers at you to give you a challenge in a number of Matrix actions.

You cannot, by any written rule, hack a technomancer's brain.  The biological node is defined as being entirely seperate from the technomancer's brain.

As for that shotgun thing, that sorta sounds like a complete misread - burst rules don't allow for mixing of ammo types at all.  Of course, an FA burst with AP flechettes woulf get pretty crazy.
