Loki checked the locker and looked over the commlink, the stealth tags, and the simrig in his hands one by one, pocketing the first two when he was done with them. He'd talked to Alessia about getting his hands on a simrig because he was curious if he could record his jaunts into what he'd heard others refer to as "Astral Space" or simply just "The Astral" with it. "Time to find out!"
He then walked over to the car as he hooked the simrig up to his trodes, turned the small device on, and pocketed it in his inside coat pocket. With a thought he opened his minds eye to the dull, lifeless world of the Astral, and as he got into the car seat and buckled up he took a few deep breaths. In an instant, his body went limp and his consciousness was ripped out of his body and transported into the mystical plane of shadows and darkness. Loki felt cold as he looked around, the familiar feeling of emptiness threatening to overwhelm him, but he steeled himself and looked around. Sure enough, the somewhat dim auras of his companions were around him, the Professor shining bright as a beacon, the others ranging from weak to just a flicker.
Shuddering to himself once more, he looked more closely at each aura for the sake of the recording, then flew out of the car and towards his destination. "Who names their joint The Broken Pot, anyway. Silly name for a restaurant, especially a fancy one. Guess these corpers are just like the royals back home", he thought to himself as he tried to orient himself in the unfamiliar city. He flew around for a while, the darkness forgotten for a while as he passed other auras also flying around, and watched the watcher spirits that were posted every now and again looking for some unseen enemy. Coming to a stop from a speed that surely would have torn the bones out of his body had he attempted the maneuver in the flesh, he saw his target up ahead. The street signs were better than things like old fashioned books and other fleeting things, and he obviously didn't have augmented reality to work with. He checked the auras of a few passerbys to see if it would help him orient himself, but as usual he couldn't really pick up more than surface thoughts as to the people's basic mental states.
Surveying what he thought was the target from a distance as his body was being transported towards the physical location where the essence of his being was currently residing, he tried to make sure that he wouldn't be spotted by anyone looking for beings like him. It was a daunting task for sure, but he peeked out from behind astral shadows to steal the glance at the place before hiding back behind the shadows of real-world objects. After what felt like hours, he began searching for his body and once he located it he took another close up look of the Professors aura, grinning to himself the whole time, then jumped back into his body. Returning to his flesh always felt like being pricked with a thousand needles, but it was comforting to be able to feel his fingers move and look at the real world through his own eyes again.
Shaking off the effects of the Astral, he reached into his coat pocked and retrieved the simrig, then handed it to the Professor.
"Hey Teach, can you see what you can get out of this? Maybe you can throw it up on our AR or something... I don't know much about tech, so I'd like to know how this stuff functions..."
His curiosity spiked at an all time high as the Professor took the recorder and began fiddling with it. "I wonder how it'll feel like for a mundie to see his own aura real up close and personal." He suppressed a chuckle, and settled back with unabashed hope.
