Snow will greet O'Connor, hoping that he is no longer angry at her.  "Have you seen the prices in the mini bar?  I hope that everything does not cost that much down here.  It would be cheaper to import the vodka from Vladivostok.  And the quality would be better as well."  She will hold up the small commlink, "Have you figured out the Pito thing yet?"

O'Connor shrugged, "I dicked around with it, but it's a layers on top of layers type of deal. I got some ideas on how to have fun with it though."

Snow will look at him, "Oh?  Do tell.  What sort of fun are you thinking of?  Can two do it?"

"That sort of thing does show up on the Pito from time to time," Sammy said with a grin, "especially if they can catch some celebrity while doing it.  But don't put that kind of stuff on your network as it will attract only weirdos."

Clem was listening to the conversation unfolding. She had no intention of participating though, so she let Ophelia and O'Connor talk to themselves. The more Sammy was describing the P2.0 network, the more Clem hated the idea. She also despised the thought of showing up on someone else's feed, her image left to the mercy of whomever was filming her. She didn't let her thoughts transpire though, but she was becoming increasingly frustrated by this piece of software.

Clem looked at the time and thought it funny that Sam was taking more time than Ophelia to get ready.

O'Connor smiled coyly, "A few of 'em, but we'll save those for later." He noted that Torley had yet to arrive, "Any of ya know if the minibar's included? Tried to ask Torley, but never got a reply. So I yelled louder, figured the balcony had good soundproofing. Still nuthin', ended up yelling quit a few unkind things see if I could get any response. Never did."

Snow will laugh.  "Yes, from the little I have learned so far by scrolling through this thing, celebrities caught having sex are big sellers and can get you lots of points.  Scandal sells.  Especially celebrity scandal.  I will do my best to avoid any scandal."  She will look around.  "Hmmm.  I would have thought he would be here by now.  Should we send someone up after him?"

Sammy checked the address and the traffic.
"We still have some time," she said, "let him relax a bit."

O'Connor's yelling had been a little distracting, Sam thought as he took a quick shower. Still, the maid hadn't seemed to notice, so he was more than happy to ignore it as well. This hotel has some nice amenities; I think I'll enjoy it, he mused to himself.

Once he was cleaned up and back in his normal attire, he headed down to the hotel bar, where he found the rest of the gang waiting for him. "To answer your question, Con, the job covers room and board, but don't go overboard on the incidentals," he said by way of greeting.

Snow will nod and wave as Sam as he enters the bar.  "That is good to know, but I thought that the prices in the mini bar were quite high for the quality of the beverage.  If those are the average prices for drinks down here, it may be time to go dry."  She will give a short laugh and look around.  "Well, we all seem to be here.  Should we leave for the studio?"  She is running searches on both commlinks for the names of the smugglers and those named as owing money to the Vory.  *If everyone is as connected as it appears, they may be easy to find.  If the word from Seattle is true, they may not be expecting a Vory contact and might be in the open.  One of the smugglers might be interested in being the new bratva boss for LA.  A direct link back to Vladivostok would be handy.*

While talking, Snow will bring up her internal 'link and search for the local EVO corporate message address.  She is looking for the link to the Corporate Hostess.  *Ah,  there you are.  Hmmm, her name is Rose Arquette.  Now, let's see if she can get me in touch with the local fixer.* She will send the woman a message,  <Good day, Miss Arquette.  My name is Yelena Petrovna Talinovski, but I usually go by the name Snow.  You may check out my bonifides through Robert Parson in your Seattle office or Misha Kirov in Vladivostok.  Either will tell you that I can be worked with and trusted.  I am in LA on business and would like to speak with someone at your office who handles security issues and am hoping that you can assist me in that.  Thank you very much and I hope that you can get back to me soon.> *Well, that is another stab at a contact down here.  I just hope that EVO is bigger here than the Vory happens to be.* Snow looks around at the others.  "How do people drive down here?  From what I saw and read up on, LA is still pretty much a mess from the earthquakes."  Something about Sam's reply to O'Connor bothers her.  *If he heard O'Connor ask him a question, why did he not just answer?  I hope that they are not baiting each other.*/color]

The noonday sun shines brightly here as you leave the hotel, even through the pollution haze. Heading east over to Studio City, you see many large (up to four-story), white, windowless buildings, each broadcasting the trids that were filmed there. They contrast with the more colorful condos and office complexes in the area. Each of these buildings is a large studio complex, where the stage can blend virtual and real elements into a fantastic trideo. At least that’s what the P2.0 agent tells you.

You drive past several gated private roads and drone sentries before the car stops and tells you that you have arrived at your destination. Before you is a large, gilded security fence with a pair of bored-looking security guards sitting in a guard shack. Beyond that, another large windowless building prominently displays a sign saying “Studio 8.”

The guards request your credentials and verify that you are supposed to be there before opening the gates. You then drive into the large parking lot below the sign. As you exit the car, a dozen iBall drones descend near you. Your links and P2.0 accounts are bombarded by queries. Before you decide whether or not you should go for your gun, they determine you are not newsworthy and leave. One even gives an electronic snort of distaste as it goes, though another seems to linger extra-long on Sammy before departing.
Walking into Studio 8, you are amazed by what is going on inside. It’s like an arcology, but with miniature mountains, oceans, and towns … anything that the director wants can be built inside.

The film stage alone looks to be 350 meters long. The techie with Ben, James, recognizes you and comes over.

“Hi guys. I had Mr. Desperado put Mr. Slade’s equipment in storage room 8A, over to your left. I’ll show you the room.” He heads off past what appears to be a green-colored, irregularly shaped wall.

“Over to the right of the stage are the meeting rooms, catering, restrooms, workshops, etc.,” he says, pointing to the one and two-story buildings nested inside the studio. “When the red light ARO is on in any of the rooms, it means that we’re filming and everyone needs to be quiet. And here’s storage room 8A.”

He fumbles a bit with a hefty set of maglock passkeys around his neck and gives you one. “Here’s the key. When Ben wants some piece of equipment, I’ll come and find you.” With that, he heads back to the stage, busy with something on his ‘link.

The storage room is about as big as or bigger than some of your apartments. It’s twenty by ten meters, with a six-meter-tall shelving unit and attached rolling ladder. Slade’s cases fit neatly on the bottom corner of the shelving unit. Nothing appears to be missing.

Snow also receives a text:

<Your message was forwarded to me by our tech guys, sorry to say I do not really have the skills to have done the work myself, I was just the lead on the situation as the Air Marshall.  I do have several suggestions for you, some from personal experience working the merc circles in Bogata and some compiled by my team at my request.  Perhaps we can discuss them over dinner next time I am in LA?>

Snow will enjoy the ride over to the studio.  The entire experience is much like what she was used to in Vladivostok working as a hostess for EVO.  First class rides to nice places.  The difference is that those trips always ended in someone's bed and this may turn out differently.

She is awed by the size of the studio and listens carefully to the techie.  *Tempted.  But this is not the time to ask to see the IT guys.  Wait for a better moment.*  She will follow with the group to the storage area and pick up her weapons, checking to make sure that everything is in working order.  She will run a quick diagnostic on the gun through its smartlink.  Then wait.  She will ask, "So, is this what we are supposed to watch over?"

She is excited to see the text.  Excited and disappointed.  She sends a reply,  <Dinner will be nice.  I would like very much to hear what you have to say.  I will be in town for at least two weeks, maybe longer.  Send me a note and I will try to carve out some time.>

Taking the maglock key, Sam thanked James and made sure he'd left before the group opened the case and retrieved their equipment. The Roomsweeper slipped into the second holster in his suit, adding a comfortable balance to the Peacekeeper. After that, he looked around the room to verify that it only had one entrance, then turned to the team.

"Ok, as we discussed before, Clem's got lead on tactical decisions, with Con as backup. Snow, can you take over this lock? At least get it to tell us whenever it's opened? I doubt this is the only key, but even if it is, it's possible for someone to get past the lock, and if that happens, we ought to know." He trusted Sammy to be doing whatever magic mojo she felt was necessary, but until the elf proved herself, he was going to try to help as best he could.

O'Connor ran a quick visual check on his weapons, before booting up his smartgun system and running diagnostics and calibrations. He loaded his Security 600 pistol with a clip of stick-n-shock, and Crusader machine pistol with the normal explosive rounds. He placed his machine pistol on his right hip, and light pistol up his left sleeve in a gun slide. He slipped his knife into his right boot. He nodded in response to Snow's question, "That's it. Already had a bit of trouble over 'em, probably have some more soon." He held up his heavily customized M23 rifle and turned to Clem, "After what happened at The Needle, think we should roll heavy for the time being?"
