same here.  You're the GM, you know what we need right away and what can wait.  If you say a hacker can wait, we can start.

PS: I will be away from August 7th to 12th.  I will have internet access there, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to do a lot during that time.

== Description ==
Completely unimposing in appearance, Yuri only has a few distinguishing features. She lost both her hands in an unfortunate accident when she was younger, and they've been replaced by complete cyberlimbs. Her style of dress, and her apartment nestled on the edge of Akihabara, demonstrates her otaku lifestyle, and she's almost never seen without a bunch of AR windows in front of her, or her drone hovering over her shoulder.

== Background ==
Her father Japanese, and her mother Russian, and both working for Evo, Rusalka was born a total corpkid. Her early years were fairly sheltered and normal, and it wasn't until she was brought along on a business trip to Neo-Tokyo did her desire for excitement finally come around. Caught up in a botched extraction, coinciding with Crash 2.0, resulted in her finding herself alone on the streets, no one knowing she was alive, and without a SIN, knowing that she even existed.

She scrapped together a meager existance here. Not very strong or athletic, she managed to get by using her smarts, hacking vending machines for food or picking locks to find shelter for the night. Her activities eventually caught the attention of the Bakuto no Bakuta, a Matrix/Rigger gang, and she happily accepted their offer to take her in. With the protection they provided, she began to flourish in her new life, finally getting off the streets, and eventually beginning to make a name for herself in the shadows of NeoTokyo.

@ Isane

Just a few comments and nothing too major I hope:
  • The armor mods can they be cut down in lien with everyone else. i.e. one enhancement on top of any it has as standard.
  • The hacked programs - yes perfectly legal (in a char gen perspective anyway) but having that many may prove problematic in game as that will be a hella lot of patching every month you may want to reconsider.
  • the bulk modification on the cyber hands is a bit extreme, I wouldn't usually allow that level of bulk modification except on  full limb, it's just a bit ridiculous otherwise. my preference would be to lose it entirely but will allow one rank. this will of course mean tweaking the rest to fit in capacity.

Overall a nice rounded character until the gear really ,the commlink is probably a bit OTT for this campaign, it is not likely that you encounter anything challenging with this commlink. Last thing could I get a bit more info on the debt and the day job please.

Okay then guys as we have a full team now bar a few minor tweaks i'll get this game a going. Unless you have any objections I had intended that none of you know each other yet in game. the IC thread will be up later tonight.

Yes, I think I have a problem with Shadowrun and gear.  I always have pages of stuff, and feel a little off when I notice how little others take.  There is just too much neat stuff.

For armor mods, was the limit on just things that increase the ballistic/impact value, or all mods?  Either way I totally forgot the dressCODE jacket comes with +2 chemical protection already, chummer just doesn't note it in the ensemble.  I'll do a bit of tweaking anyway then.

Yeah, that's the downside with hacked programs.  Either I'm going to be spending whatever downtime we get patching them, or just use my matrix gang contact to see if I can buy/snag said patches.  And of course, there's always stealing the patches right from the source if I need to  ;D

Will do some changing around on the cyber hands.  Keeping Snake Fingers, Armor, and Ultrasound Sensor on the left, and putting Snake Fingers, Orientation System, Smuggling Compartment, and Datajack on the right.  Moved some armor mods around, and got a cryptosense module and another month of lifestyle with the nuyen I saved getting rid of the extra bulk modifications.

I will definitely write up more fluff, I just wanted to get the gist down so you could take a look at it.  In Debt is to a street doc (Probably someone from The Bleeds, page 91 of Corporate Enclaves), back when she needed the nuyen to get her cyberlimbs fast.  Day Job represents the matrix work she does for the Bakuto no Bakuta.  They primarily work with AR, so she helps out when they need things done in VR.

Anyway, I'll edit the earlier sheet with the changes in just a moment.  Aaaand done.

The patches you can indeed do through your hacker gang contact.  Every member (including yourself) patches one program and shares said patch with the rest of the gang.  That way you have to do only one (it takes one week and if you do it every month it's treshold 1, a hit you should be able to buy) and you get the others by sharing yours.  That's at least how I always did it when I played a hacker.

And there's always the option of just buying patches, useful for when you need the program running the best it can as soon as possible.

Yep; at 10% of cost from current (degraded) rating to new (desired) rating, the cost is minimal. Also, unlike programs with the Copy Protection option, hacked programs can be freely copied. So that Clearsight autosoft can freely be used on all drones. In my opinion, hacked programs are the only way of making a cost effective rigger.

That being said, the costs do add up. Moto, my SR4 rigger, has a patching cost of roughly 3k per month, mostly because he's also pretty good hacker; the hacking programs degrade every month, while pretty much everything else only degrade every other month. The data search time to find patches is measured in minutes, so if you have a good Data Search skill and access to a warez group you can knock out 30 patches in as many minutes.

You only need the patches for the hacking programs.  The other ones, like analyse and browse, you can buy legally and have the patches come to you via company upgrades.  Those are legal programs everybody can have, so there's no need to go with pirated copies which cost a lot of time and money to keep current.  My character, who isn't a hacker and therefore only has regular programs, has legal versions of them.

Like Martin said, hacked programs can be shared freely, so I don't have to worry about anything if I for instance wanted my Agent to be using the same program as me at the same time.  It's also mainly just a question of if you want to save nuyen now or later.

Also, had one last tweak to make, basically just dropping the Dragonfly drone and improving the grades of some of the cyberware.

Seijin is currently carrying four weapons and wearing all of his armor except the helmet, which is back at the apartment. If anyone objects, he will remove the SecureTech armor pieces and hand over his shock glove and forearm snap-blades, but he'll object to anyone even trying to remove his katana (and weapon focus) and he will attempt to conceal the ceramic knife (can't be detected by MAD scanners, and is stored in a concealed holster (-2) under his Vashon Island Longcoat (-2), with a base concealability of -2, for a total of -6).

Also martin, I believe concealable holsters just give -1

Quite possible, I'm playing both 4th and 5th live and PBP games so I might get some details wrong occasionally.

Will check once I have access to books.

Edit:
Nope, turns out I was right; the Vashon Island Synergist line from Arsenal features holsters that provide -2 to concealability that is cumulative with the -2 for the longcoat, which is what Seijin is wearing.

Also, cr4kp0t:
Are the other characters in the waiting room the other players (Dubs, Yuri, Tantei, raiden's guy), or someone else? If the latter, how well do we know these people and what are their names? If the former, how well do we know each other? Seijin obviously doesn't have the best of reputations (it's pretty atrocious, actually).

I can see Seijin having worked with all of the others at some point; they would all know about his propensity for not taking jobs that includes straight up killing someone, as well as for stepping in if someone tries to hurt someone who is defenseless. They would also know of his incredible skill with his blades as well as his speed (having seen him in action), and that he doesn't speak much except through his art.

What would Seijin and the others know about your character in turn?

what I like is the fact that the human and the ork have more charisma than the elves (who actually get a bonus on charisma).  :)

I have probably worked together with Seijin, as we're both from the same Shinto Tradition.  And she has the same outlook on killing people (don't do it unless there's absolutely no other option).  In fact, I don't have any spell to kill things with (unless with overflow).

Dubs is probably fairly new in town and I might know Yuri from my time as police officer.  Not sure about the last one, but it's possible.

What the others might know about Mariko:
-she was a police officer (and still has some of the sensibilities going with it, like protecting innocents and stuff like that).
-she's a mage in the Shinto tradition, follower of the kami Fukurō (actually, Fukurō is owl in Japanese according to google translage)

Awesome stuff, farothel; Seijin would definitely approve. All right, so we'd know of each other at the very least, probably have done a few jobs.

Isane, HydroRaven, Raiden; thoughts?

Also, also;
Hachiman, Seijin's Mentor Spirit, is described as both the God of War and, according to Wiki, "more correctly" as the tutelary deity of warriors and the protector of Japan; his symbolic animal is the dove, of all things. I'm using the Bear Mentor Spirit rules for Hachiman.
