Don't forget that firearm skills are already somewhat specialized - you pretty much only use them to make things bleed. CQC can be used to do the same thing, or subdue and disarm. You can even use it to disrupt as many people as you and your weapon can Reach, which can either be good for you or a good assist to your marksman friend.

Yeah, but all someone has to do is put Stick-n-Shock rounds into the gun or Gel Impact rounds and while it will hurt, they normally do not kill. Unless you are stupid and taze someone in the eye or some sick thing like that.

I wouldn't assume that off the bat, Blaz.  Those rounds are still dangerous, because all it takes is a bad roll on the defender's side and their unconscious or dead.
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

That's less of a risk in 5th, actually, because if Stun damage overflows into Physical, it's only 1 Physical for every 2 Stun overflow (I did almost kill someone with a gel round full burst in 4th, though).

Right, the target could have a pacemaker that shorts out when you hit him with a Shock-n-Stick or they could have what I have, a rib cage deformity that is more susceptible to breaking from force being applied. The GM could always throw odd-balls at you with stuff like that, but that is something that the GM shouldn't do that often as then it would ruin the 'shitting your pants cause you accidentally killed your extraction target' moment that it normally induces. Its up to the GM though on how he wants to do it.

No, I'm not talking pacemakers or deformities.  You're still talking weapons that do (in the case of rifles, shotguns, etc, at least) 10-13S damage.  A good hit with a burst has a decent chance to overflow, which can risk death.  Pretty sure Called Shots might have some risks too, but I'm not cracking open Run & Gun right now.
