I'm fine tuning a campaign I wrote a little while back, getting it ready to go. As a general rule, I try to build a number of themes, play lists for campaigns.

What I'm looking for is your opinion on the following list of soundtracks, even the odd album. If you know them, that's great, if you don't, I recommend you listen to them. I'm biased, but I do like them for a number of reasons.

My goal has to been to collected a number of sounds, from some very grungy, mechanical, industrial, through to more classical, instrumental tunes.

The short list is currently;
Deus Ex 1 soundtrack
Deus Ex Human Revolution soundtrack
Plethora and Timecode by MRDC
Watch Dogs soundtrack
Blade 1,2 and 3 soundtracks (more instrumental themes, fight music)
Emperor Battle for Dune, Harkonnen and Ordos soundtracks, (Harkonnen very industrial sound, Ordos, techno-ish, high tech labs)
Remeber Me soundtrack
Mirror's Edge soundtrack
Alien soundtrack, two disc version (exploring desolate areas, deep black sites, creep factor)
Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack (part of it does take place in Egypt, a black site)
Homeworld 1 (great themes, Swarmer battle music and Ghost Ship for hordes and weirdness)
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident (general lab/corp themes, some great mystery music)

What I'm after is another few options, I've already ruled out Blade Runner and a few others at the moment. In my mind, while enough time has passed, the sound is just too unique. I'm still listening to some Vangelis though, it's close to making the cut. I've also been given the idea of Metal Fatigue, a game from 2000, which is supposed to have very corporate faction involved. It might have some potential.
When in doubt, C4.

Try the music thread here.
If you don't find what you are looking for, try doing a search of the forums, I'm sure there are probably other threads about music besides this one that I'm not aware of.

Had a look at it, still checking out a few possibilities from it.

Though if I'm honest, a lot of that is a little too specific a sound for my tastes. I'm not a fan of metal and a lot of that does fit into what I call metal.
When in doubt, C4.

Check the very last post in that thread (as of this post anyway) - it's mine and none of what I listed was 'metal'.

Sounds like what you want is more ambient, pulsating sounds.  I'm totally a fan.

Recommendations from me would include some stuff that might be a little "metal" but these bands do have great songs that would fit into the "ambient, pulsing rhythms" that I think you're looking for.  You might just have to dig a little bit.  From the industrial side of things, Die Krupps, Front Line Assembly, and Cabaret Voltaire are all excellent at creating ambient sounds.  From the electronica side of things, you might consider looking at The Orb, Paul Oakenfold, and DJ Keoki.

Hollywood Undead has a lot of rock and rap influence, but the beats scream 'Shadowrun' at me in big neon letters.
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

I love to use the Mass Effect sound track for my campaigns.  Clubs are great meeting places and mass effect (and dues ex for the record) has great music for the club that helps set the atmosphere.  The combat music is also pretty fitting.

The Mass Effect soundtrack is likely to make it the cut. I'm listening to it on and off at the moment. Other options are Beyond: Two Souls, with the possibility of the soundtrack from Her, the Spike Jonze movie.

I've actually got a little Paul Oakenfold in the collection of mine, so that's also being listened to.

I'll have to check out the Die Krupps etc later in the week. Same goes for Hollywood Undead, there's only so many hours in the day you can listen to music. Have a 70+ GB doesn't help either.
When in doubt, C4.
