So I've heard the phrase "Theran Immortals" somewhere once, and I was wondering if they are really a thing or not. Also, I'm wondering if other immortals might have survived through the low mana times, like vampires or whatever. I assume vampires needed too much mana to survive the 5th world, but I'm in no way sure of that. So, anyone got anything for me? Fine with actual RAW or just speculation.

Lots of rumours abound and you can take a peek in the Secret History section for the Denairastas.

Meanwhile our own Bull wrote up a piece for playing a Highlander style Immortal in the Shadowrun Supplemental #13 some time back and you can still see it here. :D
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Thank you very much for that. And if this is in the wrong section, I apologize, I didn't think about the secret history forum when I posted this.

Earthdawn had some life extending spells, and I think her name was something like Anya who gained immortality through a deal with a horror.(I may be misremembering this)And in 2e the head of some magic organization lie the black circle was rumored to be immortal and human.  4e had a spirit pact that stopped aging.

I'm of the opinion magic is capable of even the most powerful DND spells its just no one who's managed it is talking and magic is still so new the only ones in that position are the immortal elves, dragons, some few "immortal" beings while the general population is still rediscovering what it can do and opinion shackles them somewhat. Still that's another debate.

I can't see a horror making that kind of deal even with my little knowledge.

I'm a fan of the theory that most of the heads of the black circle are descendants of those original immortal humans.

5th ed has the same spirit pact now where you are immune to aging.

I think the manalevel of Earthdawn would have been higher than the current of the 6th world. So that might have allowed other forms of spells as well as more powerful spells. I think one of the main indices is an entry to Harlekin stating his MAG would be higher, if the mana level of the world allowed it - or something like that.

Think you are thinking of Aina Dupree.

She was an Immortal Elf in the elven court even before her hookup with the Horror Ysrthgrathe, which in turn spawned Thais who is a half Horror/half metahuman (MetaHor?)

For more on her (way) back in the day check out the Earthdawn novel Scars
There is a more affordable version somewhere on Lulu, but can not find the link at the moment.

I'm basing this off comments that the hollows are coming back sooner than anyone expected due to the much higher mana levels than we're present last time. Still since its a discontinued line its not really an issue.

I can easily see it as MP (magic power) = 21 at the height of mana (right before the horrors come and eat everyone) dropping to 7 at the lowest ebb. Your still immensely powerful in a world where there isn't enough ambient mana for more than an occasional naturally born mage (who can't do much since their natural 6 is still having 14 subtracted leaving them at zero magic effectively. They can use magic but without training they're not going to amount to much) but only a third of what you'd be in an era with higher mana levels. Of course the fun part is if you then increase your effective MP to 21 again when mana surges you'll actually find yourself operating at 35 because you added 14 to your 21 level.

Not necessarily - remember, when most of the nasty stuff crossed over, there was a mana spike - basically, an astral beacon for the Horrors. It was eliminated in "Harlequin's Back". Then again, more of the nasty stuff has been recently appearing. Perhaps someone (*cough*Azzies*cough*) created another spike?

However you want. Speculation is fine, as is any confirmed ties.

So adapting those highlander immortal rules to 5th edition.

Oh god.  "Some time back" = 14 fraggin' years, as this was published in 2001.  And I actually wrote the original version a couple years earlier, possibly in 1998, as I think my very first draft of those rules were for 2nd ed.  Wow. :)

I love seeing some of that goofy shit I did live on.  One of these days I REALLY need to see about getting my website up and running again.

YEAH!!! :P

Edit: Wonder if some of the stuff could even just be tucked away in a googledoc or similar although I do not know if that would actually be any easier.

Should be easy enough.  They're basically a souped up Adept.
