Just want to post here to make sure I know the rules a little before I attempt to do anything on the IC thread.
First of all: Can I Hot-Sim from my Deck without using a cable to connect directly with a device? (Yes, right?)
In order to try and see what the Corp Police are doing, that would require me to use Hack on the Fly to jump on the local grid, right? Or do I try to jump from global grid to global grid for each Corp? (Since I'm a squatter with no subscriptions to grids.) Also, Hack on the Fly uses the Sleaze attribute, but I can't quite figure out how to calculate it, is it capped out at 6 because of my Deck, or is it the same as my Hacking+Sleaze or Hacking+Logic? I also have the Codeslinger (Hack on the Fly) quality, so I get a +2 on top of it all, despite any potential caps right?
Way I'm reading it right now is when it says "Hacking + Logic [Sleaze]" That would mean, for a Decker it's Hacking+Sleaze rating, and for a Technomancer it's Hacking+Logic. Is that correct?
Also, would I need to actually hack anything specifically on the grid(s) in order to track the police, or would I need to attempt Matrix Perception to try and find some info on them? I'm currently reading the chapter in the Core Rulebook for the Matrix, but it seems kind of vague in some areas.
Right now I'm thinking, if I was using my current set-up: 6 Sleaze, 5 Attack, 5 Firewall, 3 Data Proccessing. I would do something like:
Roll Hack on the Fly (5+6+2=13 Dice Pool) to hop over to the local grid, then roll Matrix Perception (7+3=10 Dice Pool) to spot them and potentially get additional info. I could then potentially Hack on the Fly again, or use Brute Force (5+5=10 Dice Pool) to attempt to mark them so they can't hide from me. Also, after I place a Mark, I can attempt a Snoop (4+6=10 Dice Pool) so I can hear all communications to and from the target. I could also attempt Trace Icon (7+3=10 Dice Pool) to find the physical location of any identified police icons I get a mark on.
So basically, I want to try and get tabs on every police force in the area, just tell me if I'm reading the rules on the dice pools right, and which rolls to make. From there, I should be able to figure out the majority of future actions.
