Option 5: Lucky goes to Tammie (the copper) and uses little Bikki as initial evidence for the illegal actions take.  Tammie tries to get the police involved - but the police need more evidence, and do not want to just arrest some low ranking officials at the temple. They want the big fish, they send either us or a group of more experienced runners to infiltrate the temple or the company behind it and gain their trust and find increminating evidence that can take the people responsible to jail - or force them to make a fat donation to the police. (it is a dystopian world after all).

Because right now with Bikki it is impossible to really bring in the 'big fish'.

I mean a group of street rats getting boat load of money and hire runners is a bit odd for me - if we had the skills to make big money we weren't street rats.  Once we start carrying big money the other street bullies are going to take it from us. There is a reason we are all poor.

Ooooooh: How about that: We build one of the rarest kinds of characters in SR: Honest policeman who want to do their job. Collecting evidence going under cover and having to fight with red tape and corruption.  ;D

I think finding such a character in Kathmandu isn't really much more likely than three street rats becoming rich, but it sounds more like a convincing plot to me.
However, being a cop would really bind or hands, and I don't know if we will be able to accomplish our goals if we are forced to stick to the law at least in some way.
On the other hand, that could also be really interesting...

Well, we don't have to be wholly by the book cops  ;)
I'm thinking more Shaft than... actually I don't know any good examples for a complete straight cop ;D

Hmmm... Shaft in Nepal?

*Imagining a crossover between Samuel Jackson and Bruce Lee*

All right, that sounds promising!

I like both your and Gilga's idea, I'll go ahead with both of it.
From how I judge the Nepali-police I think them sending runners instead of actual policemen is slightly more realistic, but that might just be my very biased opinion.  And after all, this is the 5th world, everything's possible!

Well, until 2075 many things might change, and we wouldn't have to be local cops.

The most promising setting, however, would be (in my opinion):
Lucky seeks advice with Tammy who starts investigating the things. She finds a week spot (say, Ravinder) and can find out with megacorp stands behind it. Being a straight cop, she doesn't want the to be the end but she can't do more, so she gives an anonymous hint to a competitor megacorp. And they do have tha capacity to hire professionals to investigate the whole shit.

If we are cops (an idea I like too) we should be professionals, too. And, after my personal experiences, without being too biased, this would have to be foreign policemen, so we would need an international investigation command. Dunno how to justify this for a small biz like this.

How about one Cop that has a personal stake in that because his nephew vanished, who calls up contacts from the other side to help him now that he has a solid lead.

I''d be happy enough to be that cop 8)

Sounds amazing. One cop and two shadowrunners.
Or else they could gang up some local semi-professionals: maybe a local hacker, whose best friend vanished, is trying to find partners to fight the temple, and the cop and he found themselves. Maybe joing Baba Rajesh or so and we don't even "need" shadowrunners.

I, too, like that idea.
So is it one cop and two semi-professionals then?
Shall we specify on their origin, or can we just make up something on our own, wether it's a personal relationship or let's say one of Sano Souraj's men or whoever's?

Great!

So, Jack, I guess, you'll be the cop then?
What about the others? You can have NPCs too, if you want.

I'd like to play a native. Whether he's a real runner or a local semi-professional, I don't mind, whatever fits better into the general storyline. Maybe a mixture, cause to me it seems kinda odd to have a completely beefed-up internationally-well-redeemed shadowrunner investigate such a case.  I think I'd like to play someone like Keshav, Sano Souraj's henchman, a local, worn-out professional. But definitely someone big this time  :P

Or are we playing high-end-runners?

So, I've been trying to come up with a believable Rent a Cop.

Meet Seargent Ryan "Cinder" Laird:
Half-Irish half-Nepali member of the Kathmandu Police forces. One of the last idealistic cops in the country. Since his own nephew has vanished he has taken a special interest in the street rats of the city. He's heard rumors about a certain temple and asked two of his not-so-legal contacts/friends/people who owe him to help with an unofficial investigation...

(I used Made Man to represent his active duty within the police:
COST: 5 KARMA
As a minor member of an organized crime syndicate, the character can occasionally call on its resources. At the time of purchase, select a crime syndicate as a free Group Contact (see Group or Organization Contact Options, p. 176). As the character is an actual member of the syndicate, Loyalty is increased to 3 instead of starting at 1. This status also allows him to use the syndicate as a reliable fence for stolen goods (they get thirty percent of the items’ value) or as a source for stolen and restricted goods (ten percent price reduction and a +1 dice pool modifier for the Availability Test). Everything comes with a price, though. The character is expected to participate in syndicate work, taking at least twenty hours of his time every week in a standard campaign, and costing the character one out of every four weeks in Missions play.)
