Isaint looked quizzically at the changeling:
"Resonate? Oh, so you are one of those technomancers. Sorry, I assumed you had an internal deck or something.
Is it true, that you can make electronics work better through some kind of magic programs? That would be very helpful for the coming confrontations. A little extra edge over the opposition."

Goodnight giggles at Melisa's confusion, and the two of them sound like a couple of schoolgirls in the astral. "Its more the stepping out part, not the spirit part that's a problem." She explains. "Metahuman women get territorial, and if she's not awakened, she can't even see you. It would be like competing with a ghost. If you had a body of your own, maybe..." Goodnight trails off, thinking hard. Relationships are something she has a lot of experience in. Not her own, of course, but helping others? That is something she is comfortable with. "Hold that thought for a sec, Melisa."

To Solo, Goodnight patiently explains, "That might kill her, you know." She nods at the scrap of e-paper. "She looks like she really loves you. Normal people aren't like us, they don't understand that sometimes you have to drop everything and walk away. You just disappearing would tear a huge hole in her life, and she might never refill it. That would be incredibly cruel." She purses her poison-purple lips. "Have you considered bringing her over to our side of the street?" She asks after a moment. "If she loves you, she can cope with your lifestyle. Media is working with you, making us all out to be glamorous lawbreakers, like those old trids about pirates and outlaws." She points at the paper again. "And if she's an adrenaline junkie, this lifestyle may not be a bad thing for her. Its exciting as hell, you're a competent 'runner in your own right, and with some chrome or some vat muscle or a few quickened spells we could put her up on her level."

Goodnight's voice warms as the idea takes form in her head. "Instead of abandoning your life and living with a spirit that wants nothing more than to guard your family and fuck you to exhaustion in your head, why don't you build a life around these things?" She smiles. "This is twenty seventy-five, honey, not the dark ages. Strange relationships are the rule, rather than the exception. Build a life, build a team. You could do worse than an enhanced adrenaline-junkie for a girlfriend and a powerful spirit inhabiting a body for a mistress."

Tobbis blinks, grumbling softly as he face palms. He let the cat out of the bag. Oh well no use denying it now. "Yes... sort of. Its not easy to do and GOD really hates when I do it. I need time to rest so I can work at them again. And why in the bloody blue blazes do I keep hearing the Rocket Chocolate theme song? Blasted earworms."

"No problem, we'll have to find some place to rest anyway so the family doesn't break down from exhaustion.
Also don't worry. I never bought into that whole technomancer hate, but I can see why you don't advertise. There are some fairly nasty outfits out there who do nothing else but grab the gifted.

Still, when you are rested, I'd ask you to give that improvement program a try. We are in a really dangerous environment. We can't afford not to use any and all resources at our disposition."

Isaint pondered for a moment:
"But don't over do it, you conscious and on the top of your game is worth more than a few improvements on our gear."

Figuring he might as well continue on, "Well, I can remain conscious through almost anything. Just.. well, I can't actually feel much while I am. I know my body is in pain right now, but I can't feel any of it. I'm not even sure where this headache is coming from, even with my medical knowledge. I'm not sure what those two are going on about with something about spriits.. "

Nitro look back, his cybereyes typically expressionless, but his face slightly quizzical. "Eh? Oneanna 'ose 'echnowizz types? Canansay tha' I know mu' o yer type... 'ear some o' ye ma'e pre'y goo' riggers though..." He looks the diminutive changeling over and sighs before settling the assault shotgun back into a ready position, feeling more and more that he was babysitting more than just the marks and without any fast exit plan.

Solo takes a deep breath "She will make an excellent runner, the charming cat burglar type, she's rich so it will just fit the stereotype." He pauses "This job is dangerous most do not survive more than a year. I do not know if a break up will kill her - but this threesome you are suggesting is very likely to kill her eventually. Would you do bring someone you care about, to this side of the street?"

I'll tell you what's exhausting, those two lovebirds right here.
Directing his word to Goodnight and Solo: You two, why don't you just seat down, I'll bring you some tea and some biscuits and you can tell us all about your relationship issues... C'mon guys, we're in the freaking catacombs and all I can hear is your chatterbox yapping about girlfriends. Get it together and stay alert.

Nitro, I have no clue what you're saying, but yay to firepower right now.

Isaint unsuccessfully suppressed a laugh at that:
"I didn't want to say anything Nitro, but yeah, for a non-native speaker like me that was pretty incomprehensible."
He turned again to the Frenchman:
"Meh, I won't complain - It's definitely better than my conversations with her. For some reason she thinks I'm an indiscriminate baby killer were infected are concerned."

M says to Goodnight in the astral: "It isn't like that... It is love and sacrifice isn't it?"

Solo's eyes light for a short moment when Frenchman offers tea and biscuits, he then realizes that Frenchman does not have tea and biscuits in his survival gear. With a mental command he texts Frenchman and ISaint.  >> Do you really think that leaving GN alone with her negative emotions and creative thoughts is a good idea? That her emotions have no effect at all?  It may be so, but ISaint's right cheek thinks differently. Let her focus on Natasha and casual talk, it will defuse some of her anger and we will get the best performance from her.

His lips are saying a completely different thing:  "We are armed and dangerous, with drones in formation and spirits scanning the astral around us, it should be difficult to surprise us.  We are all a bit edgy- and already lost our beauty sleep and too many of our team mates. Spending the time in silence alone with our thoughts thinking just how dangerous our situation really is. Will not do good to our mental condition. "

Al nearly cheered when Frenchie told Solo and Goodbye to get their shit together. But it had been minutes since his last smoke, and hours since his last drink, so naturally he was irritable. Besides, he had on occasion been known to stray onto the loquacious side of the tracks himself. As long as they kept moving, he was happy.

He noticed that the Doc was whispering something to his wife. She hesitated, then agreed with him, and he approached Al. "Listen, um, Al, we appreciate your capabilities and know you'll do all you can to keep us safe, but...well...we've already seen how easy it is for even professionals like yourselves to get separated in here, and we've also noticed how most of you are carrying large firearms at the ready, and..."

"Jist spit 'er out, Doc."

"Right, well then, what it is is we'd like weapons. Just your spares, of course, just something to protect ourselves with as a last resort. My wife and I have both done skeet shooting for years now."

Skeet shooting? Al's eyebrows rose in bemusement, but he understood where this family man was coming from. All he wanted to do was anything at all to better his family's odds. "Well Doc, we lit outta there pretty fast. This here Remington's only thing I got. Probably the same fer our compadres here, an' what they do got, well, ya know what a biometric safety is?"

Al made his reply loud enough for the whole group to hear. Hopefully they'd take his hint - the last thing they needed was firearms in the hands of these people in a confused, near pitch-black melee.

Isaint shoved both hands into the folds of his jacket and produced two tasers with laser sights attached.
"Here, four shots, laser sight, 20m maximum distance. Try to ignore the groves, the grip is modified to fit my hands. Don't shoot yourself. Those things pack a serious punch.
And as we say in Germany: Wiedersehen macht Freude - I want those back."

Solo overheard Al and the doc.
>> Al, I got a spare Sigma street style sub machine gun, and a couple of stick and shots. I also got a spare AK-97  on the bike. I can spare stick and shots for both. While it is too late for training, these are automatics with good recoil compensation. Goodnight might be able to magically augment them so they'll feel as skilled as average security guards.

He then catches ISaint handing Rachel and the Doc tasers. Probably safer to have them with tasers, he is impressed how equipped ISaint is.

Goodnight is considering her reply when catches Isaint and the Frenchman making their comments, and then Solo's surprisingly mild reply. Very calmly, she draws her Ares Lightfire 75 and turns around, stopping in the middle of the tunnel. She glares at Isaint and the Frenchman and tells the Isaint, "Not just infected. I think you're an indiscriminate thug where everyone is concerned. You said it yourself, 'Hurting people is we do' right? So don't be surprised or upset if I think that a paid legbreaker with hatred of monsters is, y'know, going to attack what most people would define as monsters, or if I treat you like a violent thug." Goodnight looks angry, but it is not the flashing rage of earlier and her voice remains calm. Now there is an edge of resignation to it, an unspoken measure of weary acceptance, as though she's dealt with people like the Isaint she describes a thousand times before, and didn't enjoy it then either.

Her eyes shift to the Frenchman. "We have four civilians that don't know how to move quietly, drones buzzing about, and a fucking motorcycle. My voice is not adding appreciably to the noise level." She explains irritably. "Take it from the expert. Most of the drek down here could hunt you silent, in the dark, behind a ruthenium screen and thermal damping. Spirits and their ilk do not give a single, apathetic sunday fuck how loud we are." She gestures at Solo with the hand that isn't holding a firearm and says, "But this man is having problems beyond our current task. Thinking of a solution rather than dwelling on a problem is constructive, and if he's got an idea of what he wants to do, the motivation to get through this to do it may save his life, so kindly shut your fragging gob unless you have something to contribute."

Goodnight looks back at Isaint, her eyes rolling for a second and says, "At least you had a viewpoint to express." Then she stares daggers at them both a moment longer and turns back around, walking once more.

To Natasha, Goodnight says, "I'm sorry about that." As they walk, she ejects the magazine from her pistol and replaces it with another, one that has a yellow stripe down the back, and curious looking bullets. She loads the pistol and cycles the action wirelessly, then places it back in its holster and unbuckles the whole thing from her thigh. Proferring it to Natasha, Goodnight says, "Here. I figure no kid in this day and age can grow up without having at least a layman's knowledge of how to use a gun, right?" Natasha nods, staring at the holster, which had turned black somewhere between hand and thigh. Goodnight nods, approving. "Good. This is loaded with stick-n'-shock. It won't kill anybody unless you really pile on the shots, but it'll stop a charging ork if you hit him a couple of times. Take it, put it on, make sure you know where it is in the dark."

As Natasha buckles on the holster, Goodnight looks at Solo and says, "To answer you, yes, I would. I already have." She sounds incredibly sad for those five syllables, but she smiles, too. Then she shifts her focus to Melisa and tells her, "Love is sacrifice, yes, but it doesn't have to be. If she loves him, she'll adapt. If you love him, you'll let him adapt. If he loves you both, he'll try to make it work."

Goodnight takes a second to pull out her contacts case and pop out her nightshade contacts, putting them in the case and washing them with a few brisk shakes. Natasha is just getting the holster seated when Goodnight hands her the case and tells her, "Here. Nightvision and a smartlink. Just put the little pink triangle where you want the bullet to go and physics will do the rest." Her own eyes are a blazing fuschia now, and they flash in the near-darkness like a cat's as she whispers and gestures, proving that she can, in fact, augment someone to be a better shot. The new spell construct lays over the old, and a moment later Natasha's grace and speed have been as augmented as Goodnight's magic can make them. Satisfied, she lets Natasha begin to get the measure of her new skill and gear and turns away, leading them deeper into The Maze.

“Just for the record. “ Say Solo quietly - “ This is not a fucking motorcycle. It is the Yamaha Growler. The best motorcycle for the conditions here, great speed off road, superior handling. It can go on one wheel and jump over rocks. This bike can access places where no other vehicle can.” He then say with clear passion in his voice “The sexy part is that with a dash of spiritual help it can become super sonic... you haven’t lived before you reached supersonic speed on a "fucking motorcycle".” With a naughty smile he adds. "I will take you for a spin if your heart can handle the excitement - when we’re off duty off course.”

Solo obviously feels strongly about the motorcycle, the comment of the Frenchman totally passed him, with no effect, but the motorcycle is very dear to him. Solo smiles with unease when Goodnight turns his love life into a public topic, or a weapon against ISaint, for such a charismatic person she does not have a lot of finesse -  but at least the previous rage became a more civilized hostility, and maybe a trickster spirit is NOT going to make them kill each other.

“Spirits love to toy with meta humans emotions, but they are a bit cagey about their own, aren’t they M?”
M answers “ I don’t do these things anymore”
Solo said. “Nevermind it right now... this place is just like you wanted, creepy and spooky with minor spirits crying, trapped between the living and the dead - misleaded. Most people would find it spooky - but I just feel as if it is a great location for some bike tricks.”

Solo smiles at Natasha, he opens his leather jacket and exposes an SMG on his heap... "This is the Ares Sigma, very popular for street fights, drug dealers and gangers." He unfolds it - and get it ready to action.  "This gun is accurate and powerful, point and click squeeze the trigger gently until you hear 3 or 4 booms then stop to re-balance the gun, there is no point in much longer bursts as the gun will divert from its target."

He hands it to Natasha - and guide her how to hold the gun - fixes her position show her how it should sit in her hands, and how her arms and shoulders also play a part in aiming.
"The first thing you need to understand is cover, something bad happens you do not just stand here and fire!  First you get down on the floor like this". He dives down military style.  His mind is focused on the his assault rifle and his entire body is inline with the gun to better handle the recoil. "Only once you are under cover, crouching or laying on the ground you fire" He adds: "this gun is a real beast,  but it is more important not to be hit. You pick your shots carefully, focus first on whom is most dangerous to you. Remember the goal is self defense, if you are hiding and under no immediate danger do not shoot, we are so fast in combat that it will all be over in a few seconds. You only shoot if the enemy is directly going to attack you. “

“Got it” Said Natasha.

The SMG is already loaded with stick and shots, apparently Solo only switch to lethal force in extreme situations and the ambush with milspec armored HTR was not yet classified as extreme in his book.

To Goodnight - “the SMG may be a  better for her as she is not skilled - it is more difficult to doge.” He lets Natasha pick her weapon and then help her practice a little bit in using it.

"Now we practice - when I say down, you go down and aim - the target is in your smartlink." he waits a moment and then cries " Down! " Both of them get down and get into firing positions.  As Natasha gets up, Solo cires “Down” again and after several times when she is a bit out of breath Solo say that it is enough.  “When something bad happens your body now knows what to do.” He say. "Now lets hope that that doctor is not going to have us killed for giving a gun to his teenage daughter." He thinks.

Then Goodnight say that she have took someone to the shadows in the past and that she would do it again.  “You said you did it and would do it again...  I do not understand why did you do it? ... Honestly, while I have some bogus cover Tammie has a real family, parents that worship her and brothers and sisters - it feels awfully selfish to just grab her to my side of the street and cut her free from everything... what could possibly cause you to drug someone to our world?”
