I'm not exactly proud of the post - I'm not very good at negotiations in real life, so it'll be rough going trying to write. But it's started. Here's a Neg roll without modifiers as I suspect they'll probably wash out in the end, but you can feel free to roll any additional dice if it happens to work out in our favor.

Jäger's motions are all for scenic description, and so there isn't a giant block of red text indicating a rigid speech with no movement or other life.

Doc doesn't find any MARKs on himself or Ohanzee, other than their own.

I don't know of any mechanics for that to happen, but that doesn't mean much

Doc doesn't know of any way to trace through the Matrix without MARKs unless it's one of crazy things that technomancers can do via the Resonance Realms.

Also, how much of the AF's research was APB able to exfiltrate and provide to Ace? I'm wondering if we have actual research notes that we might be able to use to sweeten the pot (by reducing DIMR's research time).

Dice rolling social skills is tricky during an RP-heavy PbP game. As a GM you ask for the roll so that Toothless Tony the Uncouth Troll doesn't charm everyone simply because the player is a poet. Conversely, you shouldn't have to be a face in real life to play one effectively in a game. If Ohanzee had rolled exceptionally well, I might be feeding you clues about what negotiation points were especially effective. But Ohanzee's RP has been pretty well-aligned with his roll (5 hits) so we'll keep that for now. You can roll again if you want to try to improve the result, but of course it could backfire too.

As for what APB was able to retrieve during her aborted hack on the Atlantean Foundation, let's say that she got a couple executive summaries (presentations sent up the chain of command) but not detailed research notes. These summaries including trideo footage (specifically a recording of the volunteers getting turned into mindless husks by reading the writing on the obelisk). Also available: the obelisk's weight (~350 kilos) and composition (the base is made of iron, gold, copper, mercury, silver, platinum, osmium and silicon; the magic portion on top of the base is made of Hepatizon, which is an alloy of Orichalcum and Cerrukite).

Your understanding of the chronology is that the obelisk was had only been unearthed a couple weeks before APB's intrusion. As such, only preliminary studies were available, which were certainly promising but not exactly revolutionary.

I'm still debating whether I should leave the burner on. I'll let Doc decide. We'll also need to let those at the camp know what's up and maybe have Sam set his bomb. I think we'll send another photo after that. But this is a good point for the rest of the team to get involved.


Also, Doc should check her facts - are the others likely to bid as she states or was that a bluff?

More info on the thought process. He had left an ultimatum ("Last Chance"), and it is a sign of weakness to waffle or offer false conviction. So leaving the table was his only option.


As for the threat, he was answering in kind - she had basically said "If you don't take my offer, you will be killed", so he responded in kind. Granted, the threats have been growing ever less veiled throughout the whole "negotiation", so it's tough to say who started it really. And he had the added bonus that she was the one that gave his threat teeth - she was the one that pointed out that they had no qualms about committing violence. So it is unlikely that she will see it as an idle threat.


The fear, of course (and the smile at the end is not dissuading me of this possibility), is that she is the one that hired Ohanzee in the first place - corporate espionage by cover of religious cult. It's also possible that she may WANT the destruction of the artifact (added twist - she was a doomsday cult member all along!).


It also was  not lost on me that she made some rather accurate assumptions about our current whereabouts. Or were they more than assumptions... Doc should check us all for trackers. Or is she also CFD positive and thus still aware of us as part of that network?

Let us know if Doc wants to leave the burner on and if he wants to check out any parts of Jäger's negotiating points. Doing so might be an involved process though.

Let us know exactly how much detail you intend to share with Chino and the home team. Are you going to relay it all exactly or are you going to pass it off quickly as "no sale"?

I'll let you handle Chino for the crunchy bits once it comes time to make some decisions. I've been filling in some fluff for him while you were on break. And if what we say directly contradicts each other, so much the better! That's CFD for you.
