Scan this, Chummers.

I'm currently at the End Game of my home campaign and my group is knee deep in the drek and two of us (one being me) got snatched up by an Aztechnology strike team, had cortex bombs implanted in our heads and pretty much forced to betray our current employer. We were given a plot device poison that would kill our two targets in 75-90 hours. We tried everything you can think of (literally) to try and circumvent the worst case scenario and ended up doing the deed, but we told our targets (out of respect to them) of what we did. With shorten lives, our fixer hires us to join a massive prime runner assault on an Aztechnology holding in Los Angeles, PCC (Aztechnology is banned from the PCC). We're in the middle of a huge Corp vs Corp war and with bombs in some of our heads, the drek has hit the fan and everything is become personal. Our fixer said he would provide us with anything we need.

Our GM opened up the shop and we have access to ANYTHING short of magical foci and cyberware. And should we survive, we get to keep ONE thing.

So, what would you take?

For me? I play a dual archtype character in the campaign. I play an All-Purpose Decker capable of both Attack and Sleaze, but more focused on Sleaze. He is also a Remote Rigger that provides suppressing fire and a force multiplier for the team. For the End Game portion of the campaign, I'm pretty much going to be running 20+ combat drones armed with HMGs, assault cannons and military grade guided missiles. But the one thing I will be taking as my one item will be a fully customized Fairlight Paladin from Data Trails.

For your decker/rigger, it'd be a tossup between a paladin and some sort fancy assault aircraft, I guess. Although the Paladin is less likely to attract military intervention.

Why are magical foci and cyberware off-limits? Kind of weird that the decker gets million-dollar toys but the street sam doesn't... (and power foci aren't even thát expensive).

My mage would probably pick up a Paladin too, but my mage is weird. If he wasn't such a computer nut, he'd probably snatch a nice armored vehicle. I'd pick up a F6 power focus or something if I could, but that's off limits in this scenario.

The problem with most other characters is that the stuff they really want is either not that expensive (but there's a lot of stuff you want), outside of the limits of this scenario (like some nice Deltaware replacements for their ware) or very, very illegal like assault vehicles, heavy weapons or Milspec armor.

Actually, there's one thing that most people might end up taking in this scenario: level 3 Tacnets.

Stonewall MBT (See Rigger Black Book)

Why? You doesn't want a flying tank with FA lasers and the biggest Railgun you can find?

But if that is impossible, possibly a Paladin or Graysul (8!?! Programs)
If Tom Brady’s a Spike Baby, what does that make Brees and Rodgers?

I'm taking the Paladin for resale value to get some sweet Deltaware on the other side... or a fancy pocket ornament for my corpse!!!!!

PI-Tac 3 might be a good choice for someone who doesn't want things just for themselves (or the Decker) - +6 Firewall, +6 Data Processing, +3 Perception for the team, +2 to current Combat skill for the team, and if rigger is down, others can command the drones/vehicles, and more.

Does it matter? You are all dead in effect - two from cortex bombs and two from poison. You won't live long enough to enjoy anything you keep.

Really, go for resale value and hope you can find a clinic and the best medical care you can to either remove the cortex bombs or neutralize/extract the poison. Maybe see what it would take to become an eGhost in case all other efforts fail (probably nothing short of another Matrix crash).
