FY: Running: 6d6t5 2
That is AGI*4+2*2 = 32. He outruns you!

Yeah, you did read this correctly. There are two possibilities why I think trolls might be slower:
  • It might be to compensate the higher strength you roll on. If they would gain 2m, like elves, trolls would be super fast. Since the rest of the CRB lacks such considerations, I don't think this is the reason.
  • Trolls are plump. Hence they should be slow. Hence only 1m. By deduction, I'd assume this is the point. Which is not unreasonable: elephants are slower than many smaller animals, and trolls have shorter legs, proportionally, than elfs, orks or humans.
@Jack: What exactly did you mean by "The back doors are secured?"

@gilga: I'll inform you as soon as a naked men steps out into Thamel ;) your spirit's still following Cinder atm.[/spoiler]

The people leapt aside in fear, as Scarcrow charged into their area, screaming in panic. "Somebody help him! This trog's gonna kill him!", you can hear somebody cry out just after you're past him. Luckily, civil courage seems to be a foreign word, when it comes to stopping five hundred pounds of muscles, bones and anger.

Scarcrow and Cinder run, fully clothed, into a shower room. It's nigh empty, save for one man who keeps relatively calm, considering what happens. The elf, however, who can accelerate faster than Scarcrow does, and seems to be very nimble overall, increases his headstart step by step. You can guess where he left the showers at this point, but it's increasingly difficult to tell where he ran.

I meant we have a man covering the back door  ;)

Cinder called out: "Nepali police, get out of the way.", before running after FY.

The big troll didn't slow down. Scarcrow wasn't a very good spurter, but had a strong endurance. He would be able to keep this speed up for a long time, probably not catching up to the killer, but at least keeping him under pressure. Or so he hoped.
"Quick, wherehego?", he shouted at the man before running past him. If he doesn't respond quickly, he just takes the option that seems most likely.

@Volker: All right, don't like it but I guess that kind of makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Sprint again: 2nd sprint: 10d6t5 4 >> 28m

@Jack: You're talking of Riker? o.O
@luckace: You don't have to roll AGI+Throwing Weapons when you shit to hit the sink ;) rolls are meant to resolve ambigous situations. You don't need to roll to shout at some random dude.

You run around the corner, following the indication of the man in the showers. At this moment, there comes the disappointment: You find yourselves in a huge hall with two large pools. There are lots of people around and a handful of doors leading from here. It's nigh impossible to tell where FY went. He could have merged into the crowd, or left at some nearby door. He could even have jumped into one of the pools, for all you can tell.

As you enter the pool area, you draw the attention of a whole lot of people, bathing in their swimsuits or just lying around and relaxing. Some kind of lifeguard seems to consider the option to ask you to leave, but decides otherwise.

Do you wanna split up and continue following him, or do you try something else? Whew, elves can be slippery!

Tired of being sidelined, Mark decided to hack the security cameras to recieve an additional eyes in the building. To do so he first augmented his logic "If I was normally this smart, I'd hack the camera's several minutes ago." he thoguht and plugged himself inside. It only took a few seconds, and Mark gave a remarkable performance. He hoped that it will be enough to feel part of the action.

Nevermind if there are no security cameras, just looking for somthing to do while waiting. We can always find FY with the spirit now that it seen its aura.

Improve logic: 14d6t5 4
drain: 8d6t5 3
hacking security cameras: 19d6t5 9
Mark has 6 logic + 6 skill + 2 hot sim + 4 improved logic +1 brand loyalty to his RCC. Sustain penalty is negated with highten concentration. (or what ever the correct name is ;) )

Configuration:
1. Stealth Dongle  (2 Sleeze)
2. Virtual machine (standard hack on the fly programs +2 hotf + 1 sleeze)
3. Smoke and Mirrors (+2 sleeze +2 noise)
4. Perception (for drones)
5. Pilot program
Signaled vectored processor - reduce 2 noise form Smoke and Mirrors.
7 Sleaze limit tough 7 so 2 hits are wasted.

Scarcrow cursed heavily.
And then cursed again.
He looked for possible exits out of the hall and for people heading for these exits.
"You!", he addressed the closest bystander. "Did a naked elf just run in here? Police is looking for him, he's very dangerous."

@teamspeak:
"Drek, he slipped into a crowd. How'bout we check his belongings? Maybe he's got something with him that's useful for us. Mark, any news in the matrix? "

@ Volker:
Hmmm... let me do a judge-intentions-roll first to see if I believe you or not, and then charisma+willpower to check whether I change my attitude  ;)  ;D

I guess we don't really have any other options besides continuing the search or nuking the spa. Maybe we could find hints in his pockets and ambush him at his car/home? But I don't think our chances are better outside than they are right now...

Did FY took his comlink with him? because Mark can trace the comlink otherwise he may work on the comlink to dig its secrets.

Also did the spirit see FY? if so it can be used to search for him and since FY is not very far, it should not be difficult to locate him.

"Block the exit. We are doing that by the book, securing room by room."
Cinder replaced the taser and drew his revolver.
"NEPALI POLICE. A dangerous fugitive just ran through here - elf, about 1.80m. Where did he go?"

@Volker
I mean the drones Mark has stationed at the back door - and Riker too, I suppose  ;)

They don't have any security cameras in there. I'll just take your roll for hacking FY's commlink instead.

Defense: 11d6t5 4

Counter-roll: 11d6t5 4

Counter-roll: 11d6t5 3

So, if you hit a second mark against 4 successes and perform a Trace Icon against 3 successes, you'll be able to track him down.

I'll roll a lucky die again:
1-3: The spirit hasn't seen him.
4-6: It was able to see him before he vanished.

Lucky roll: 1d6t4 1

The spirit has seen Frozen Yoghurt.

The man Scarcrow bellowed at raised his arms in fear and pointed at the door to your next. "There! There!"

How do you know which are his belongings?

@Jack: Oh, you mean the drones. Well, they're observing it, but they don't block it.

When Cinder shouted at the crowd, it took a few moments until the people realized what's going on. For an instant, it becomes quite    quiet in the hall. Then a girl started screaming: "Is he a murderer?"
"What? A murderer? Get out of here, son, quickly. Manisha!
"Let's go home, quickly!"

Soon, the shouts of the people drown out single voices. And then everything begun to get chaotic.

Perception (Cinder): 12d6t5 3
Perception (Scarcrow): 5d6t5 4

But amidst all this chaos, the troll's eyes pierce through the crowd and see something strange going on. There's a commotion somewhere. It's nothing you could put your finger on, but the pattern is different than in the rest of all the hell this hall turned into.

Mark hacks FY comlink and traced his icon again. (Didn't he already had 2 marks on the comlink? this is how we found FY to begin with)

Hacking: 19d6t5 7
Trace Icon: 11d6t5 6
took off 3 last dice because I remembered Mark is in hot sim and cannot cast new spells.

>> Cynder, Scarcrow I am sending you an updated location on the mark.

With that in mind Mark decided to give the group some heads, he modified FY's integrated camera to rutinely rutinely flash.  If Mark is successful FY is going to be a lot less stealthy.

@gilga Ah. I assumed that you would reboot your deck to prevent your OS from exploding. Alone the ride here took at least 25 mins. Add to this a whole lot of matrix actions... That's why I assumed you hack it from zero.
Defense roll: 11d6t5 3
Your hacking is successful!

@Jack: Oh, right. That one counts of course.

Does my OS goes up even when I do not do illegal actions? like just taking the marks and then waiting?
I am actually quite new to this game and never played with OS before so enlighten me on that one as I did not understand myself exactly how it should go.

For now since we already rolled successful hackings it is academic but when he is defending wiht 11 and faliure alerts FY to faul play, if there was a reasonable way not to re do these hacks it'd help.

It does, unless it's 0, and unfortunately even the best hacker can't help it. If you, for example, use Hacking on the Fly and roll 11 hits, and your opponent has only 1, you still acquire 1 point of OS. And from now on it will grow and grow and grow until it reaches 40 and bam GOD smashes thee with righteous wrath. Or so.
Good thing is, it immediately vanishes when you reboot. That's why I assumed that you rebooted after finding out FY's location.
