With her mind cleared and focussed from the preparations, Forty starts thinking about the smells, but then another thought intrudes.  They'd been looking, she was sniffing, not much to feel or taste, but ... "Anyway that sound might have been recorded?  Don't know that they would have spoken out loud, but sound of the guns might be interesting, maybe a victim yelled something useful. Dunno how easy to find that ... Hey Henway, could you go through the film Ravener's flipped us, see if it looked like anyone was using their phone, I mean link? "

The troll's voice rumbles into the comm.  Sure ting Fawtee.  I'll let ya know if see anyting worth checkin' out.  Having said that, he begins reviewing all of the footage provided by Ravener, as well as any images or video from VanGuard that is being shared with the team.

@ Henway

Unfortunately, there isn't any sound on the clip.  Looking it over and over, Henway is pleased to note a few more of those bloody footprints.

@ Forty

Sweetgrass!  It hits her at once.  Sweetgrass.  Lavender and Sweetgrass.  That smell took her back to when she was young, traveling through the NAN.  It was newly formed back then and she remembered stopping at an Amerindian store and that combined scent filled it.

@ Ravener

Directly connecting to the terminal makes accessing the workstation, even through the circuitous means of treading into the host, simple enough.  Accessing the host wirelessly would have been a nightmare.  He digs around and discovers that this particular workstation belongs to 'Peter Spears' and apparently he handled the administrative requirements for the hires at 'Greenfields.'  Apparently, there are several Greenfields locations in the region... across the country, even.

Accessed where the names of all hires in the last 3 months.  He quicklyy copies that file and then wonders if there is anything else he might do while he has access to the Shiawase host...
That's just like... your opinion, man.

The group continues to look for anything to give them a clue.  Ravener begins preparation to access the Host through the workstation while VanGuard seeks out any physical signs of the attackers that the invisibility spell would not have covered up.

Blood bootprints are easy to find, revealing a... hiking boot of all things.  The letter 'NFP' can be made out in the center of a thick tread.  'North Face Patagonia.'

>> Team [VanGuard] Team, looks like one of our bogey men was wearing hiking boots instead of combat boots. I'm attaching the clearest image to this message,  feel free to connect your image links to my camera.  // attachment: hiking_boot_print.png5 <<

VanGuard will continue to scour the parking garage, looking for any other clues.

Henway diligently reviews the footage before chiming back in over the comm.  Fawtee, dere ain't no sound on dis vid, so I can't tell if dere was anyone talkin' on dere comms.  Good news is dat I can see a bunch of dem footprints on dis video, so I'm thinkin' dat dat must be one of da shooters.

Feeling quite pleased with his contribution to the investigation, he leans against the door frame and goes back to watching the hallway.  After a moment, his eyes begin to scan the floor here for additional boot prints.

Alright team, the guy who made it to a terminal was a 'Peter Spears', and he handled accounts for Greenfields.  I got their last 3 months hiring data to review as well.  Ravener messages the group as he continues to look around for more information about Greenfields.

"I picked up scents of lavender and sweetgrass.  The first maybe could come from an employee here, but I think sweetgrass more of a NAN thing than a Japan thing.  At least, I don't think they use it in Shinto.  Not to stereotype, bu tKachina might know about sweetgrass."

>>Ravener [Forty] I'm sure you got a lot going on in there, but just reminding you of my offer, in case you got the cycles.<<

>>Heather [Forty] So I got more.  Lavender and Sweetgrass.  Mean anything to you?

Kachina was standing silently in the middle of the office, trying to take in the information she was receiving and put it in place to relate the event.
She walked to the man who ran away when the doors opened. Kneeling down she turned the body to have a look at him. The feed showed him fleeing in fear when the after the door opened. How could he have seen the invisible killer? what scared him? what did he know?

She looked at the Lieutenant , but spoke out loud enough and through her commlink to address the entire team: Can we get an ID on this man too? I'd like to learn more about him
She looked on his person to find any sort of clue. Maybe he was awaken and could see the Astral world. Why such a valuable employee  would work in HR cubicle would become another question if so. But this man had managed to perceived what no one else did. That was something.

We used a lot of sweetgrass in my Tribe, might be generalizing but you're not stereotyping. Kachina started answering Forty.

Good Job, Ravener. Greenfields... Mmmm. Was that list the last thing accessed from this terminal? Can you check if any name was removed?
And please pull up what ever Info you can quickly access from the Matrix on Greenfields.

Have you noticed any other print?Should we assume only one killer entered the room and made this carnage? Could that theory correlate with the minimal forensic we can make of the kills?

As in any investigation, Kachina had more questions than answer but she was glad her team was very involved in finding clues. Her team... who was she thinking she was?...

Henway scratches the side of his face, then appears satisfied that there are no bloody footprints in the hallway that he has been scrutinizing.  Sweetgrass?  Is dat someting dat you smoke?  Maybe dey grow it in da green fields youse was talkin' about?  Maybe dis is about a drug deal, dealers where I come from might do someting like dis if someone crossed dem up so dat everyone else got da message dat dat's bad biz.

>> Team [VanGuard]  Kachina, I have noticed quite a few sets of prints.  Our hiking aficionado was not alone by a long shot.  Those just happened to be unique and identifiable. I am currently running a matrix search of all NFP boots comparing the soles to the print found to determine how many of their boots have the exact same tread pattern along with the logo being at the same proportion of the rest of the boot, given the size.  So far nothing conclusive, but once I finish my search I will let everyone know. <<

>> Henway [VanGuard] Sweetgrass isn't that kind of grass.  It is literally grass, the green stuff the rich guys have around their mansions, spraying them with presumably clean water.  I am sure you can find it in abundance out in the countryside, but I don't find much work out that way.  <<

>> Team [VanGuard] Unless anyone is still image linked to my drone and wants it to look at anything specific, I am going to send it back to my van and return to meatspace.  I will take lack of response as confirmation that you were not actively looking at anything from my feed. <<

VanGuard opens his eyes and ponders the scene.  At least four sets of footprints, including the NFP.  Assuming a rigger that stayed behind, that makes six.  Hard to know if anyone else might have stayed in the van, though.

Ravener glances over the last three months and notes that most of the hires out of this office have gone to three Greenfields locations that are all within about 150 miles of Seattle.

Meanwhile, Kachina stands over the man who had turned to run.  The Lieutenant shakes his head.  "One of the HR Managers.  Thomas Forsythe.  Nothing special about him that I can think of.  Just a mid-level guy."

Kachina frowns as she looks him over before realizing that the man has cybereyes.
That's just like... your opinion, man.

As her magically boosted focus fades away, Forty repeats the familiar ritual of cursing herself for not being able to do proper magic, then turning her anger toward the world at large.  After a few moments of standing with her arms crossed, scowl on her face, and violence in her stare she mutters to herself "No fragging point in standing around Forty -- you don't work for the Corp, you don't get coffee breaks.  You might be a dumb thug but you gotta do something useful."

But what to do?  She already had Bolt check for traces of magic, and the spirit couldn't find anything interesting.  She looks around at the carnage again, the blood and bullet wounds, then replays the camera footage that Ravener shared with the team.  Finally she flicks on her microphone and shares ">>The invis says someone good at magic.  But looks to me like all the killing was with guns.  No spirit on the cam, no fireballs, no nobody acting strange for what was going on.  I'm gonna look to see if anyone doesn't have the right kind of damage on 'em for guns and knives, to be sure.  But I don't think their caster was a killer."

Then she gets to work, checking over the bodies one by one.  She doesn't know much about wounds besides that they hurt, but she figures she'd notice if one of the corpses was burnt in places, or didn't have any bloody holes in it.  Thinking through what her spirits can do, she also looks for signs of vomit.  Of particular interest is the part of the room killed last, since she would have used guns to herd people into waiting spirits.

Gasping for air, VanGuard sits bolt upright as he opens his eyes and draws in precious breath. Cotton mouth. Always the fragging cotton mouth. VanGuard adds a canteen with water to his AR list of things to make sure is packed in his go-bag.

Over the comm, "I was able to discern four separate sets of boot prints, including our hiker chum. However, judging from the size of the van, there could be as many as three or four more who stayed behind; certainly two more at the minimum assuming a rigger and a support mage. So I would wager we are looking at a team of six that we are dealing with, that would have allowed space for two large drones, which presumably were airborne from the lack of tracks or additional foot prints. That would help explain the level of carnage present here. That all said, facts are: four sets of boots on the ground, one set of which are the hiking boots; everything else was hypothesis."

After a brief pause in which he has gathered and accounted for his things, VanGuard speaks again over the commlink. "I've gathered as much Intel as I possibly can at this point, my drones have tons of visual data that we can refer back to if needed. Unless y'all have immediate need of me or my drones, I am going to go secure them into my van"

Assuming that no one has anything that requires his immediate attention, VanGuard excuses himself out the way they came in with his two remaining drones. Barring any interruption from Shiawase staff or security, it will take VanGuard approximately twenty minutes to shutdown and secure all three drones into van. He briefly rummage for some water or any other drinkables, but frowns as he comes up dry right before putting the drones up and adds a highlight to the canteen entry on his go-bag pack list.

Ravener looks around for a chair not completely covered in blood before jacking into the terminal.  'Jacking in now, message me if something happens.' he messages out to the team's comlinks before mentally triggering the transition to the digital plane.  As the world fades from his eyes the song hidden in the static of signal drives him down into the terminal.  The harsh lighting of a 'typical' corporate mall fills his eyes, his dark feathered head and angular features out of place among the 'shoppers' and 'salespeople' running around moving information and programs from isle to isle.  A blur encompasses him as he shifts his appearance to match the ubiquitous 'shoppers'.  The shop he finds himself in is a bookstore, with a sign proclaiming it to be under the management of a Peter Spears.  After browsing the store, Ravener notes that bookstore is divided by geographical locations, with books primarily relating to Greenfields.  Further searching leads Ravener to an open ledger showing the names of all the recent hires for the last 3 months.  The book appears to have been last accessed during the attack, and Ravener carefully checks it for traps before making himself a copy.  Swapping programs, he checks his watch and sees that he still has quite some time to continue looking.  He transfers the book into his satchel and sends it to the team, while giving them the basics over his 'phone'.

Smiling at the 'clerk' Ravener steps out into the mall and looks around carefully as he looks around for whatever this host considers personnel files to be.  Sighing, he notes that the personnel files appear to be held in a GrillKrill restaurant stand.  'Typical corporate humor,' he muses to himself before making his way over to look at the 'menu'.  With a flirty smile, he orders the 'manager's review' special for Peter Spears.  When the server looks confused, he manages to fast talk them into thinking he is Spear's manager getting ready for a possible promotion.  Her eyes easing (and Ravener's own heart calming as he checks the file), she hands it over with a smile.  Ravener sits down at a nearby table to 'digest' the file and transfer the information he is getting to his team.  Adjusting his 'phone' for direct connection he messages Fourty [Ravener] What did you want me to look for?  I am almost done here.  Standing he begins looking for anything else related to this Greenfields...

>>Ravener [Forty] Former employee, name of Sylvia Sakamoto--back to Sylvia Peron after her divorce.  Dismissed maybe a dozen years ago.  It isn't part of this job so don't go crazy looking for it, but my 1k advance is yours if you can get her file.<<

Frag, thinks Forty afterward, I think it was about twelve years ago, she did say not long after Mom died.  Close enough I hope.  And as usual I'm stupid, I should have seen if he'd look for it for less, I probably should have kept some money back for ammo or taxi fare or something.  But an offer's an offer, and knowing what was what with Sylvia would be worth it.
