ok bio:
Nick Underwood, born in Auburn in 2039, was raised with his one sister Jane Underwood by their single mother Jacqueline Underwood a very successful local doctor. The Nature of his mothers job and having no father in the picture left Nick alone most of the time and this created a need inside him for attention founded on loneliness. Growing up he acted out in school to get attention, bullying others, causing trouble, and letting his grades slip, these certainly got him attention but not the sort he was after. In a rare period of free time with his mother he discovered how her attention focused on him when he showed interest in her work or Medicine in general, grasping this he would ask about her work at any opportunity and read whatever he could to keep her attention on him. Through the remainder of school he kept this up and soon put himself fully into the study of Medicine regardless of attention, his mother paid for his college tuition as he strove farther and farther. When he graduated he began his career at a local hospital where he worked for years and was quite successful, but that all ended in 2072.
He fucked up, that simple, a small nick and the kid died. It was a Aortic surgery, a tear in the muscles of his heart was putting his life in danger. Usually caused by stress the only explanation for this was genetics, and this surgery required replacing the damaged area of the heart with a new graft. He had just about to remove the damaged area to make room for the graft when he twitched, imperceptibly and for no discernible reason and the nick was no more than 3/4ths of a millimeter but thats what it took. The aortic artery is the largest in the body and unless the blood pressure is kept low is almost certain to kill the patient upon damaging.
The short from here being that the Anesthesiologist fucked up and the blood pressure wasn't as it should be causing the vessel to rupture like a water balloon draining the kid in seconds. The father, who happened to be the head of some successful local corp, singled Nick out and ruined him to make him pay for his sons death. Nick had his license removed and a stain smeared across Seattle on Every medical establishment.
Depressed he returned to Auburn and Moved nearby to his mother, now nearing retirement, and his sister, Owner of a popular bar for the Working class locals. Nick was able to use his Mother and sisters Popularity to start seeing Local injured workers and giving them medical service under the table that was actually affordable to these workers on lower incomes. Its been a few months, his depression is beginning to lift and as it does he begins to realize that what happened, never should have, that so much could have gone wrong all at once was a miracle, of course that’s only if it had happened without outside influence.
