<@Mark Hans> "Next Friday's good. I should have my current job wrapped up in time to catch the viewing. See you then, omae."

"I miss working for Supernova," Operator chuckled warmly over the mild humming of his bike, an expression of joy that was rarely seen in Japanese men while in the company of metahumans. "I made a few good friends there and they haven't forgotten about me."

<@Slip, BB> I just put through a call to my friend in Supernova's production staff, and he's looking into Kiku's whereabouts. Until I get a confirmation, I'll be cruising around Bellevue.

Kontact whats your stealth? and which programs do you have running.
Stealth is 5 and Program load depends on when this run happens in relation to Road to Redmond.  There was a lot of downtime after he finished upping skills and stats with earned karma, so he programmed a R5 Data Bomb with the Pavlov option and a R5 Unrestricted Agent.  While hacking, he rocks the Matrix in AR only. (He got fried in hotsim by a piece of MCT Black Ice, and was technically brain dead for several minutes before an agent loaded into the medkit strapped to his leg could bring him back around.  His primary sensory cortex got cooked so that now he's extremely sensitive to pain [low pain tolerance] and simsense hits him extremely hard [scorched].)  So, anyway, effective response doesn't really matter to him, only to his theoretical Agent.  If this run is after the programming, safe bets are, Analyze(e), Encrypt(e), Scan(e), Armor(e), Attack, Exploit, Stealth(e), Agent, Homeground.  If this run happens before the programming is finished, he'll just have all his programs loaded since it won't effect him.

<@Operator> So should I hold off on the SIN database hack until we've exhausted other avenues?

<@BB> Yeah, we might not have to go quite that far. Hans, an old friend of mine, works out of a simsense studio in downtown Seattle and he's got quite a few connections in the area. Thanks to good fortune, I spent most of the 60s looking after Hans and his sim stars.

If you or Slip spot something funny at Bellevue, keep me posted.

Kontact, for the sake of simplicity lets say it is after you finished programming. The perception test gives you that the system is: system 4, Firewall 3, response 4, signal 3.
You log onto the node with an exploit in there edit software. In the AR window you see the node is sculpted to look like a hotel, complete with bell hopps, front desk and several guests milling about in the lounge. there seems to be a secondary room to the lobby that houses a small bar.

Keeping an eye on the window showing the node's sculpting, B.B. kept punching code in his command window.  He scanned the node to resolve the various icons inside and to find the guest book and the user log.

Quote
11d6.hits(5) → [5,3,3,4,2,2,2,2,5,5,6] = (4) basic analyze test (on the front desk if I have to do one for each icon.  If so, more rolls, yay! At least with Multi-tasking, Observe in Detail becomes a free action and B.B. gets an extra free action per pass outside of combat.)  If Browse alone will find what I need, the rolls will be the same.  If I need to browse in addition to the perception tests...  Bam, rolls.  6 hits in 2 rolls, should hopefully be enough to get it done in a pass.

On finding it, he tried to bypass the system's user permission restrictions and edit it directly with a hack, making sure the entry had Kiko's stamp and was backdated to give each team member's "approved guest" listing a different time of entry, except slip and operator's IDs.  Those went in together.  Loading up his Corrupt program, he put and then stealthed a corrupt timer on each entry to have it erased several hours from now.

Quote
16d6.hits(5) → [3,5,2,4,6,4,3,4,6,5,3,6,1,2,5,3] = (6)  I don't know how you want to handle this, but I figured I'd so the same sort of roll you make when you've got a restricted alert and are locked out of any actions.  Hacking + Exploit vs. System + Firewall.  I really need you to guide me though this.  There's no RAW data on how to do a hack at all, and I don't know what you expect.  But, as someone who throws 15 dice on a Matrix Security Knowledge skill test, B.B. should know how to handle this even as I'm sitting here futzing about.

That done, he loaded up his Corrupt program and removed all traces related to his current ID, and logged off.

Quote
Corrupt extended test. Don't know what you want for the threshold, so I'll throw a grip of dice.    Sweet sassy shit, that's some good rolls.

Kontact, for my style of hacking I generally stick to the book unless there is a case where the rules don't have it covered. so matrix perceptions are used to analyze the node you are in or the icon you wish to inquiry. each susses is used to ask one question about the node or icon in general, hence looking at the node to get it abilities. while in the node you can use the questions to find out wha the node is running or what the function of an icon is. if you are analyzing is running stealth then you have to make a perception test to beat its stealth test to see if you even see it. For any computer test that you would make, such as editing a log you would have permission to edit, and don't have permissions to do you can use hacking to accomplish the task. So to edit the registry that you didn't have permission to you would make a Hacking and Edit instead of the Computer plus Edit. The threshold for the check in modified up by one for each level of permissions you don't have. If you are a user and need to do something that requires admin then it is threshold +2. This is something I extrapulated out of the creating a backdoor rules in Unwired. Whenever you use hacking to do something though the system gets a firewall plus analyze test with a threshold of your stealth to find you. the system gets a test every time you do, only on extended tests are the hits cumlative.

Running code against the exploit you found earlier you inject a string of code that changes the registry to include Slip on the autherized user list.

After parking the bike slip looks around and directs B.B. to follow her down in the opposite direction of the complex. after a few minutes of walking she finds a bar that looks lively enough. @B.B>>"We need to stop in here for a bathroom break. Follow me." Slip walks in to the place and heads straight to the women's bathroom, quickly checking it for occupants then flows in through the entry way and in to the stall at the end with B.B. in tow. She sets her smart pack down, pulls out a jar of nano paste and begins to apply it to change her features up.
Quote
OOC: the first two rolls are for Slip and the second two are for B.B. (i did 2 rolls each since I wasn't in a rush but if i'm only allowed 1 just take the first two.)
stealth 2 + intuition 5 + nano paste rating 3 = 10 dp (10d6.hits(5)=3, 10d6.hits(5)=7, 10d6.hits(5)=3, 10d6.hits(5)=1) After carefully applying the paste to herself, she does what she can to apply it to B.B.'s face once she's finished she goes over the both of them with her tag eraser then packs everything up. Are we ready  to go?

When Brian saw Slip break open the nano paste, he figured he could help out.  "Let me dip into this.  I got a pretty steady hand for it."
Quote
Going to use the 3 hits Slip rolled as teamwork.  With 3 skill, the max teamwork should be 3 anyway.
Stealth 3 + Int 5 + 3 limbic nanites +3 nanopaste + 3 teamwork = 17d6.hits(5) → [1,5,6,5,2,3,1,4,6,3,5,2,5,3,3,5,6] = (8)

"Lookin cute.  Feelin cute."  He took a second to check his radar and make sure no one was at the door.  "We should be on Kiko's approved guest list now.  That'll get us into her building.  Once we get near her room, I should be able to crack her home node to open the door, or I could just rip open the lock if I can't get signal."

Following Slip out of the bathroom he continued. "Place was kind of weird, digitally.  It looked like hotel rather than an apartment building.  Maybe there are condos up top and hotel rooms below that?  I don't know.  That might be nice though, since they'd be expecting a certain amount of traffic.  We might be able to just get in the elevator and flash IDs for access to her floor without having to deal with staff.  Analogue security is always such a bore."

Slip smiles at B.B. while they walk out of the bar."Either way, we'll handle it. As for the door... Slip winks I've got some gear that can handle any modern lock without leaving physical evidence of our entry. Not to mention I'm sure nadir has something useful to use, especially if anything goes wrong."

The three of you walk towards the building as you approach the building you can see the front desk security talking to a woman. The door slides open on your approach it's seems that the doors recognized your pan and the hack was successful. You wLk across the lobby towards the elevator, but can't help but overhear the conversation. The woman seems upset, someone has to do something about that smell, my nose is very delicate and it is interfering with my sleep. the security officer looks destressed. well she hasn't been in in a couple of days, I'm sure it is just a malfunction in the cleaning drones and I will have the buildings rigger take a look into it. the woman huffs well I guess that will have to do, but I want a notice written up for her and I want it taken care of this morning I have guest arriving for brunch. you reach the elevator doors as she starts to walk in your direction. The doors to the elevator slide open and gives you a greeting by the names that BB inserted in the guest registry. greetings, a call has been made to your party but they have not answered the com, would you like to continue?

"yes" @B.B., Nadir>> I think the woman in the lobby was talking about the same apartment we're going to. I have a feeling that security officer might stop by and check the place physically or send a drone to look the place over.

<@Sub Team> Well, I can convince a guard to walk away. But if it's a drone, the best I can do is make us all invisible.

B.B, Team>>You can feel safe about that SIN hack, we  possibly won`t need that. Friend of mine checked that FakeID trace in KE system, abd it seems that:
1) KE is aware that this ID is used by Kiku herself as a cover and it is fake
2) Seems like this ID left the Seattle to Denver, CAS district. Maybe it is a false trail, well possibly we would need to travell a bit while following the lady.

Beat cop contact>>What the fuck? Yak bitch in my ambulance? If only I had known that before, she would have received something completely different than a custom-made detox treatement. Well, this also explains those samples I`ve been checking, traces of some very rare stuff you dont find on the street. That bitch was possibly able to get her hands on any funny pills that had been developed. At least I know there is no danger that there is opened source of this shit to cripple brains of those lower in the food chain...Im just quite suspicious after that little Tempo surprise...Thanx a lot, this helps enought. Ill buy you a coffee next time we meet...and if you call me back if the trace reappears on the radar, you will deserve more than just a cofee. Stay safe. Nina out.

Operator>> Well, I cant say I miss the old days that much. We have been brothers and sisters in arms, that is the fact, well on the other side that meant Ive seen the worst shit metahuman is able to do...and Ive almost lost my soul when fighting this...now there is so much hardware in myself that sometimes I feel completely disconnected from happiness of living. It`s an insane feeling, Op. I only hope my wise elder would stay alive long enought for me to gain enought money to remove that trash from my body and heal my soul once again...
According my contact Kikus last travel in Seattle was to the airport. Any idea how to find out what meaning of transport she had used to get there and test this trace?

"That is a great burden to bear, Nina. I have a dull pain from behind my eye that was once a functional smartlink projector." Operator squinted involuntarily; just thinking about that fragging piece of misaligned cyber was a painful experience. He was also a lucky man; his eyesight had not degraded in the past few years.

If anything, it only became more clear.

"Mark's got a guy in customs who can verify whether or not she skipped town. I'm waiting on that call."

Unwilling to say anything, even sub-vocally, in an elevator that was undoubtedly mic'ed up, Brian cycled his encryption and sent the others a message.
<<@team>> Smells like there might be rotting bodies at Kikos.  Doesn't change the fact that we still need to search the place for clues as to why she bolted.  Give me a moment, and I'll see if I can't cause more important problems somewhere else in the building.  We need some time with this scene.
