Brian scrolled back to the conversation in the lobby.  The guy's ID was public.  Might as well scan it.  Might be able to send him some work.  Something pressing?  Maybe, and escaped animal on the fourth floor?  A loose dog is more pressing than a bad smell.  Should probably wait on it for a minute, but no harm in scanning him now.

Mean time, he headed toward Kiko's room with Slip, running his radar at full power.  Hopefully, he would be able to get an idea of just what kind of mess they were stepping in.

sorry I was in load in all week an not able to get to a computer recently with my PC crapping out, at work now so should be good.

The elevator doors shut and start to move up the floors. as the doors open you see a small hallway that has several doors, from the radar scan you see that each apartment is more of a penthouse style and very roomy. You get to Kiku's door and see that there is a maglock. it doesn't look unbreakable but it is secure. you also notice several cameras in the hallway as you approach the door.

As Slip and the others approach the door,@ subteam>> Nadir, I need to you block me from the camera, please take the left side of the door. she reaches under her coat and pulls out the her maglock passkey and swipes the card in the reader (4d6.hits(5)=1) and waits to see if the door opens.

A small Led on the door lock changes from red to green as you swipe the card through the slot. you open the door slowly and a smell as if something went rancid inside assails your nose. You can hear a thump coming from inside that seems to repeat itself every few seconds.

The main hallway into the apartment looks somewhat tidy, but as you enter you notice something odd. All buildings can detect the node of approaching visitors, this one seems to not be working because the lights don't come on. Its does not only seem to be not working but you also do not detect any nodes coming from withing. Both of you slip inside and close the door behind you.

You head down the hallway towards the living room just past the bathroom on your right. As you pass the bathroom you notice that the cabinets have been emptied in a hurry and most of its contents are strewn about the floor. there is a large charred spot on the wall inside the shower.

A little further down the hallway an open archway enters the kitchen that has a bar open to the living room. The source of the sound and smell seems to be coming from in there. You look into the kitchen and notice that most of the contents of the refrigeration have exploded onto the floor the refrigerator itself looks like a small anti tank weapon hit it from the outside. The refrigerator is leaking coolant and curdled milk stain the black tiles of the room. a small busy body drone is slamming itself into the walls as a spark ignites from the security camera placed in room just above the door. Char marks forming a jagged line trace from the fridge to the bar and out into the living room.

As you look into the living room most of the furniture is drenched but looking up at the sprinkler system the water does not look like it came from there. Entering the living room you notice the carpet is soaked and a mildew smell adds to the overall stench in the apartment. The dinning room table is set with a single candle that burned out a while back and a crystal vase lays tipped over on the floor. Looking over the bar into the kitchen sink you see some dishes that have been rinsed but not washed. Two plates and two sets of silverware and a few pans. The living room spans a good distance of the apartment with vaulted ceilings and there is a winding glass staircase that travels up to a bedroom overlooking the room. Broken glass from the balcony is scattered about the soggy carpet.  A blackened streak, or smear travels up each step of the staircase and droplets of dried blood are evident as well as some sort of charred leathery flakes lay about the bottom of each step.

Walking up to the bedroom a smells assails your since as you see what the woman must have been complaining about. The burnt remains of a person is laid on the bed the blacked streaks of dried blood and flakes of charred flesh form a trail from the stairs to the bed. A single rose lays on the persons chest and you think it may have once been a man. many of the clothes in the closet are strewn about he room and  a hidden sliding panel in the back of the closet wall is slightly ajar. looking inside you see several shelves and storage racks all are empty at the time.

Nadir dry gags as he walks through the apartment, and almost reluctantly switches his perception to Astral. He'll assense any auras or signatures he can find.

The background count is very high here, the aura is tinged with a great sadness.

Slip shares Nadir's reaction to the stale and rancid air inside the apartment, @subteam>> Lets split up and search around, I'm going to send Op an update. heading to the broken in windows to try and get fresher air and gather some story of what must have happened to leave this kind of aftermath. @op>>Op, We're inside kiku's apartment, long story short this place is a mess. We've got a single body in the bedroom, and rest is fairly wrecked to a degree that makes me wonder very much why this wasn't reported to KE long before we got here. The degree of destruction that happened in here should have been loud enough to be heard through out the whole building. Nadir is covering the astral trails, while B.B. handles the Matrix end and I search physically, but I don't know how much we'll be able to learn from this place. I'll update you again when there's something to report. After sending the message she heads back inside and starts physically searching  for clues visual perception check of the apartment 1 for the kitchen, 2 for the living room, 3 for the bathroom, 4 for the bed room. OOC: Question for redwulfe. Is the glass from the balcony broken inward towards the apartment or broken out toward the balcony?

The smell of burning flesh was immediately familiar to the young Gnome.  The corpse wasn't particularly fresh, based on the state of things.  How far behind were they?
"I'll inventory the place real quick."

Using Radar for it's millimeter wave cyberware scanner function.  15m radius should get the whole penthouse, I assume.  Throwing edge on top of the 4 for rating, if it's acceptable to spend edge on what's basically an expert system doing its thing. 7d6.hitsopen(5,6) → [[6, 6, 6, 5],4,1,5,4,2,2] = (5)  Cripes!  Well, if there's no edge, the first four dice for the R4 were all hits... :o  Should be enough to generate a list of all identifiable items and cyberware up to delta grade..

Brian watched as the AR window started to fill with a cascade of minutia.  Coffemakers, salt shakers, potted plants, cups, a few Imperial Septims and a pair of tongs.
"Ghost.. Well, lemme see what I can pare this down to.  Browse powers activate."

3 rolls - 16 hits  Should be enough for finding objects of interest.

The glass from the balcony was the bedroom balcony rail not the outside balcony, which is locked and secured from the inside currently.

The corpse has no Cyberware but in the secret room in the closet you do find an escape style tunnel that has a ladder that seems to head to the roof.

Most things in here are as they seem, weird and unusual. No weapons casings no bullet holes no signs of struggle. The living room is soaked the bedroom balcony is broke outward into the living room, the walls have char marks as if some sort of lightning or electric pulse went haywire. The drones and nodes in the room seem to have been magnetically sealed and most of there internals are fried as if a large EMP was let off and was centralized to this apartment. Kiku's gear which you assume to be what she kept in the secret room are all gone and her cloaths and medicine cabinet have been ransacked.

As far as a hit would be the attacks emanated in several location in the apartment. As if the assailant walked around firing electrical and fire based attacks everywhere with no true target. There are even chars on the ceiling. It looks unfocused and unprofessional, on top of that no one outside this apartment seems to have noticed a thing except for the smell and that is only recently and due to the lack of the ventilation systems working properly.

Frankly you seem to conclude it's plain weird. From an OOC point of view I think I have covered all the clues that you would redly get with perception test, but I can answer specific questions if you have them.

Hey Op, I contacted my friend and it seems that your mystery girl boarded a plane heading to Denver, he also said he saw something odd on the vids as well. she paused briefly to look back, he said it was like she knew she would never return. sorry if this is bad news, I did find out that she arrived in a cab and we got the access ID if you need it.

Operator pulled over to the side of the Route 520 offramp leading into Bellevue Way, lifting his visor. This ideally would put him beneath the notice of the Lake Acids; he had no interest in racing them today. "Oujo-san's apartment is a mess," he offered to Nina as an explanation for the stop. "Miniature warzone."

<@Slip> I wouldn't be surprised if magic was used to dampen sound, but Nadir had mentioned an astral taint and that may interfere. I'm only knowledgable with magic where it intersects with security, and in a secondhand way. Search everything that you can, including the body, and get out quick. Nina and myself are very close to your location.

<@Mark> Thank you, Mark; I owe you one. Beam that ID over, and I'll look into saving an old man some heartache.

@BB: OK BB I hope you dont mind touching dead bodies, I need you to look for a few things...I also hope that you have something sharp at hand.

Nina will go throught the UWB screening of the body, looking for healed fractures, old wounds, dental surgery or healing and such things. Taking samples of skin from the body, mainly from the back, should provide some details later, if specific compounds used in the tatoo ink is present
From the general state of the body, density of bones etc,  she try to judge age of the victim...if there are some minor cuts needed, she will instruct BB to do whatever is necessary to get the info. Of course, taking samples from the body and searching for more, i.e. hair samples in the bathroom sinkholes and bed...

<@Team> Alright, she's got some fancy cutlery in the kitchen.  Are we looking for tissue decomposition here to establish a time of death, or are we just getting samples for lab analysis?  Only shit I know of forensics comes from trid.  I got a guy I usually work with who handles this sort of stuff.  Actually, I've got a thought.  Operator, you know if a higher-up yakuza guy would have any kind of jewelry to indicate his position?  Like a ring?  I think that's a mafia thing, but it could be a way to ID the guy on the quick.  'Fraid the only skin around is stuck to our boots.

<@Team> Jewelry's one form of extravagance that I've noticed before. Check him for false or missing fingers and ink under the skin; if you find any jewelry with a fancy emblem, scan it and I'll take a closer look.

It also looks like Oujo-san's departure is real. My sources report that she got on a plane to Denver, but that she also paused to look back for a brief moment. Some kind of sadness or regret. I even have an access ID on the cab she took to the airport.

@BB: Any medical state findings I`ll run thought database and I hope that, if he has a record, I may be able to identify victim. Skin samples to find the traces of ink, IMO would not be visible on the burned skin, well I may be wrong. And the roten stuff in the kitchen seems to be enought to guess time of the event...everything else is contaminated by water in the bedroom and livingroom. I have a lab myself so this would be question of minutes.

@Op: So, should we check the cab and driver?
