In what city, if any, do you base your games?

My first two campaigns were based in Seattle; my third was a Neuromancer-like travel around the world (including Evo's Shibanokuji Freefall Resort and a climatic ending in Z-O!) and my current soon-to-start campaign will be set in Lagos; I wanna try setting the game in a feral city, and I do have plans to involve my players in a mercenary group and end the campaign in a epic session in Bogota).

What about y'all? Why did you choose it?

Mainly Seattle, though the games i run tend to be episodic.  So if I wanted them to do a run somewhere else I would just plop them down there, and have them do it. (after asking first, of course).  I chose Seattle because it has the most locations, and that means less names for me to come up with and fewer places to invent.

My players are very resistant to traveling if I take too long to prod them to; all their contacts, lifestyles, etc. going down the drain makes them whiny like a little newborn elf in Asamando. But yeah, Seattle has a lot of ready material, and that's exactly why I prefer somewhere else, I have lots of room to invent and make the city "more mine." My first Seattle campaigns were based off Runner Havens instead of Seattle 2072, for instance.

But I'm digging Lagos so far, especially because I lived there for a year irl. ;D

I've always had travel as part of my games for any system.  I let my imagination soar!

When I first started running SR I played in Seattle, but when I began to run the game I started using Toronto(home sweet home) as a setting.  Familar geography was a big selling point for my players and myself.

Seattle has been my players home base since first edition with lot's of short work related travel and one year spent in London.
(A few of my players used to play a group of Italian troll brothers from Boston and regularly visited their mother and sister there and spent time getting involved in the local underworld.)

Was it for tax purposes?

I am currently running my home game in Lagos. I'm thinking about running the next one in Istambul.

My main setting takes place in Pittsburgh, I made a map and filled it with my own gangs. I rather like what I've come up with, and I have a lot of fun with the setting.

Denver of course.  But I do like the material available for Seattle and have run several games there, especially when I first bought the game in 89.

I normally use Cali, being a "free" state, my world has seen it become more or less anarchistic but they can always pull together to hold the border in case of invasion (my last campaign)

Traditionally, the games I've ran have always been in Seattle, but since I'm coming back after a long break, I'm thinking about hitting up some other areas for fun

Most often I have set games in Seattle with travel as the players got to the big leagues.
I did set one game in San Fransisco for a change of pace.
