OK. back in town. If the team is splitting, Im comfortable be in any team. my UWB would be of more use inside the building,
also te medical background should help me better understand Kiku habits and needs, on the other side legwork team would be placed in more risk situations whem moving around the city so this
is also a good place for me. So ill go with whoever gives me the ride :)

Going to 'borrow' Nadir for a moment so we can push the story forward.

Would Shade expect to get both Nadir and Operator's commcodes to call in that favor at a later time?

Have a good week!

In the meantime, I don't know whether I should play for Nadir during the penthouse sweep.

That's a good question, what do we want to do about 1/2 our team being either quiet, or gone? I'm not inclined to wait for risk of the game dying out again, but with this many people gone, it doesn't seem fair to ask Redwulfe to handle their actions as well as GM. What do we want to do here guys?

Red's been a bit quiet too.  Do we need to write ourselves to our destinations?

i figure we give him till tonight, if not, we can write ourselves there. Also, kontact, would B.B. want to get a small make-over so he looks like someone not himself for any people watching us enter the apartment, or would you prefer to let hacking cover our tracks?

Disguise is an option, but it's hard to make a 3-foot tall guy in a repairman's jumpsuit look like anything else without masking.

Doing his face up different isn't a bad call though.

Sorry guys, we have been really busy at work of late but I'm back. I mainly like to wait for you guys to write yourselves leaving to go to location, before writing the description of what the location is or waiting for an OOC post.

On hacking I am use to people perceiving the node to find out info before hacking in. On PBP most of this could be done in this thread with descriptions being posted in the IC thread.

As far as people being quite, I have heard from most but Trigg. trig if you are still on and playing let me know, if not we will open back up for another player soon.

for the hacking attempt just let me know how you want to proceed the node is not hard to find as it has public access. if you wish to check out its states before making an attempt then give me a computer plus analyze, if you wish to hack on the fly then give me a hacking + exploit.

Speaking of locations, it's hard to put Operator (and Nina) at any one point other than "Seattle streets." He's going to follow the trail on Yu Jin as best as he can. Usually a bike is good for that, but if it kicks us out further than Seattle, things will get.. interesting.

I dislike the idea of having to analyze each icon individually to determine what it is, because that just leads to the mosh pit defense.

Say someone hacks into my commlink.  I say that I sculpted my node such that it has 1,000,000 icons, which I, as the creator, can instantly separate as wheat and chaff based on access #s I have memorized.  The intruder, however, needs to roll potentially 1,000,000 analyze tests to find whatever he's looking for.  That's really ugly.

I prefer to play where an analyze test is done on the whole node, showing where various systems are located, and any stealthed icons get to roll opposed with +2 (or against the original roll -2) to represent the searcher being distracted by cataloging the rest of the node.

There are plenty of places where Matrix RAW is borked, and matrix perception is one of them.

Agreed that perception in the matrix is winked when a situation like that comes up but I don't try to ever do that it defeat the purpose of colaburation and good story. Let's take the hotel sculpting for instance. You get four success on the perception test you could ask for your fist question which of these icons are background noise? And I would tell all the people in the bar are either outside icons with an access ID that puts it as either a data query or an outside user with a guest account except for the bartender one patron at the bar the doorman and the receptionist. You could then ask the function of two of those and find out that one of them is a inert security IC and a peripheral device for room service. You then take your last question to ask if there are other node attached to this one and see that the door behind the front desk is a Entry point for the connected node. As you see it will take about two to three good rolls to know the entire system. I don't try to make you analyze each icon and ask all of questions on just that node you can split up your queries and I don't try to mess with a play by making him make unneccesarry rolls. It is not productive to the story that I wish to tell.

Now for icons that are running stealth or who have had stealth ran on them, if you try to identify or see a stealthed icon several outcomes are possible. If the icon is trying to not be seen at all such as a hacker or IC, I would roll it's stealth and as long as I get more success than your test it will be grouped as a background proccess. If the icon is trying to look like something else when you ask for it's function I would roll again and the same thing if I get more hits than your perception then it give you the false data. I've been using these methods for years and it does work reall well. The reason it is important is in some highly secured systems they have IC that is interrogating the node constantly and we need to know how often I roll. Usually you will find everything you need to know in two to three rolls for you that's one IP so I would only get one roll to try and find you on the system.

Example questions you can ask are list in the book in the section of matrix perception. If for some reason you feel that I am being unfair or you feel that it is taking too many rolls we can look at alternate systems, but for now I would like to stile as close to the book as possible, just so you guys know what rules are being used to make you descitions on.

Is that OK? If not let me know.

@ redwulfe While BB is hacking I'm going to apply nano paste to alter my facial features, (enough to look similar, to any picture assocated with my sin, but different enough that visual records of me won't match my actual face. so if i get asked questions I can claim ID theift, or something of the sort...) what kind of test to you want to use for me to do to express this? I was thinking that it'd be disguise plus intuition, (total of 7 dice) and since I'm not on a time limit I'm wondering what kind of threshold I'm aiming for and how long each test might take.

@ Kontact, I'm going to wait until you're done to use nano paste to alter your facial features.
