Say an adept takes a geas for one of his powers reduced by his way would that result in a 50% reduction or 25% then 25% of that?

A "Way" discount combined with a geas gives a total of 50% discount.

Correct.

It may also, however, result in your GM hitting you with Street Magic (since Way of the Adept is only an e-book, it's sadly more difficult to beat unruly players with).  Ask them first, because you'll be mixing optional rules with more optional rules.  If you and your GM think it's needed, knock yourself out;  but check with them before you get your heart set on it.

That's why I have all the E-Books printed out and in a heavy-bound binder.  ;D

Although my new Airship Pirates book is a better bapping book.  Damn thing is sizable and weighty!

At just 15 pages, Way of the Adept is better as an off-hand weapon, or getting wadded up and thrown.  Compared to most Shadowrun books, it's altogether too light to do much damage.

I would allow it in my game, but not with the Increased Reflexes power. Not EVER. No one gets a PP 2 power to give +3 REA dice and +3 IPs. I'ma hit any player that tries with ALL of my rulebooks, including ones from older editions.

So you have no problem with someone spending 100,000 nuyen to get +3 reaction +3 IPs but you have a problem with someone spending Karma to get access to the third level of improved reflexes? I could understand saying no you can't take a Geas at character creation, only during the story arc. But saying that you can get it with money but not with karma is a little unbalanced. Adepts get their asses kicked all over the place and now you want to add another limitation, when the optional rules were created to try  to give a little balance between 'wares and adept powers.

I said I wouldn't allow it be discounted by way and geas at the same time, esp. at creation. Just like sams can't get deltaware wires at creation, or get wires rating 3. Also, if you think Adepts get their butts kicked, perhaps your adepts never get any wares? Nothing scarier than mixing physical mojo and machinery in one body.

And yet with 30bps at character creation you can buy wired reflexes 3 ...

No, you cannot, unless the GM waives availability rules.

Really? Hmmm oh wait whats this? Restricted gear quality? Allows access to a piece of gear that is up to 20 availability, and wired reflexes 3 is 20 availability, and costs 100,000 nuyen. So no I'm wrong its not 30 its 25BP.

Mmm. Touche.

I still wouldn't allow both discounts. Too much min/max for me.

it rather depends on the Geas. A real Geas lets you use the power only once a month :P

Yeah, I've always been wondering about those Geas, what's considered reasonable and what isn't? A 25 (or 50) percent discount is awesome and makes Improved Reflexes 3 a very good thing to grab.
One of the geas available being "Character makes gestures, so can't use X if handcuffed, tied down, paralyzed etc."... that's kind of a no-brainer for combat powers, right? Not having access to your hyper reflexes when you're incapable of fighting anyway... that's not a big sacrifice to make.

That's between you and your GM.
