== Background & Concept ==
Spirits with an affinity to fire are not summoned by practitioners of Witchcraft.
This isn't because these spirits have no place in the tradition but because Witches are wise, they understand and respect Fire's nature: it is a power both easy to call and quick to answer, but once unleashed rapidly becomes impossible to tame. Fire has a will of its own.
Cinder is one such spirit, a free spirit carving its own path in the metaplanes and like many of its kind, it chose to do so as a warrior. It takes great pleasure in combat and much pride in its long history of warfare across the metaplanes, dedicating its existence to the art of war.
The Plane of Flesh disgusts the spirit who sees it as a plane filled with puny and weak creatures whose only defense against the dominion of spirits lies in the fact that their cursed world is in constant manaflux, its levels of magic ebbing to a peak and then waning to uninhabitable levels too quickly for a decent war to be fought. But since its Spirit Pact sometimes forces it to come to the world, it has little choise.

Esmeralda: Cinder met Esmeralda when once, on a quest, it possessed a vessel the witch was preparing for a ritual which had nothing to do with it. It'd jumped into the thing because the vessel seemed useful, easy to possess and nearby to where it needed to be. But the witch wasn't pleased and even dared defy it, commanding the spirit to leave. It didn't like to be commanded and would have burnt her on the spot, but the witch, fighting on her home ground, managed to erect a barrier around Cinder and force a stalemate. It had respect for the bravery of the witch and her readiness to defend herself so decided to talk instead of fight. They've had many conversations since; Cinder teaching the witch about the metaplanes; the witch teaching Cinder about the way nature, magic and the elements work in this backward plane.
Aeon: Cinder met Aeon in the astral plane. A relatively young free spirit of the Hermetic Tradition, Aeon has a pragmatic view of Earth and his place on it. He thrives in the world, having procured a SIN and selling his knowledge of magic and the metaplanes in the form of incredibly expensive and exclusive lectures for corporate wagemages. He's fully adapted to life the 'real' world, rarely leaving his manifested form and enjoying food, culture and even women. Cinder's somewhat intrigued by this behavior (it doesn't approve nor understand) but knows there's much it can learn from Aeon about spirits and magic on this plane. Aeon, from his side, is somewhat amused by Cinder's way of looking at the world and sometimes borrows its mind to 'gain a better understanding of the way traditionalists view things', as he puts it.
